Get Napoli out and let Carp hit. I mean really. That wouldn't be fair to the Tigers.

Nice shoestring catch there by Dirks.

Nice to avoid the DP by stealing, setting up a run scored with only a single for a hit that inning.
I'd like to see that more.

OK, if Dempster comes out for the next inning he has naked porn of Farrell with livestock. He was gassed in that last AB. Surprised he got through it.

Nicely done by Dempster after a rough couple of innings. Now hopefully Farrell doesn't try to stretch any more outs outta him.

Get Napoli out and let Carp hit. I mean really. Sorry, I'm late on this, but Napoli is hitting .333/.438/.630 over his last 14 days and .246/.348/.474 over his last 28 days. Meanwhile, Mike Carp is hitting .300/.348/.350 over his last 28 days (albeit in only 23 PAs). Carp has also struck out nearly as much as Napoli (29.6% vs. 33.1%) while walking less (8.4% vs. 11.1%) and hitting for a bit more power (.236 ISO vs. .197 ISO). Maybe Carp is the better player, but it's not at all unambiguous that that's the case.

Excellent sixth inning by Dempster. Serviceable outing from him. Nobody expected him to shut this offense down, but he lasted six and will likely be leaving the game with the lead unless Farrell tries to get clever again. I'll take that.

Bases loaded, no outs. Carp pinch-hitting for Ross. Gotta get some runs here.

And here comes Carp, which means, I hope that Bogaerts and not Snyder goes in for Middlebrooks.
Oops - my bad - he actually hit for Ross. My brain couldn't process. I mean Ross is a veteran who adds character.

Pinch-hitting Carp for Ross with the bases loaded. Good. And it pays off. Now, let's put this one out of reach.

That may have been what Guidas was getting at. Scratch that one up as just another productive at bat for Mike Carp.

I still have some reservations about Middlebrooks, but if he and Xander come close to panning out...
