Gah nvm, Gameday tricked me into the inning ending with only 2 outs.

Bogaerts really has been making better contact lately. Good to see. Several hard hit balls in the last week. Very encouraging to see him stay back and go the other way with the breaking ball.

I think I'll go with the Carp one. Just through the end of this miserable season. You'll get plenty of opportunities to turn the tables this offseason and beyond. You were pretty kind with this one. hehe AJP wouldve been a touch harsher, but in the here and now, I wouldve enjoyed seeing this.... Kelly "F***ing" Johnson is batting 5th, I cant even come up with a word for that....

Good bit of loud contact.

Apparently, Renaldo is working on a slider between starts.

...and the loud contact keeps coming, mostly on elevated fastballs. 2-8 GB/FB ratio.

Oh, good, now a home run to the opposing pitcher. Read your scouting reports, Anthony, Leake can hit.

Pop quiz: who has a higher career slugging percentage... JBJ or Reds SP Mike Leake.
Answer: it's Leake, even before the HR today.

I love Napoli's opposite-field power. That was a pretty good pitch (offspeed, down, on the outside of the plate) that he drove a long way.

I'm not a Napoli fan by any means, and hated that 3-$39mil contract, but would have been a good deal looking back at it now. Even still, he's not particularly overpaid, for a veteran.

The pitch that Bogaerts just struck out on is the sort of hanger that he should be sending 430feet in the other direction

Between the 3rd baseman here and NY , Xander had some though luck. Maybe 3 or 4 more hits.

It's time to pull out Ranaudo as he don't have powder pitcher. He got 2 K's against NYY and zero today from 5 inning performance. Pitcher Mike Leake could hit HR off him for second time who knows if John opt to leave him for 6th inning. Mike is also 1 HR up on JBJ which is pretty embarrassed for him. Joe Kelly already got 2 hits himself in his 2 starts for the team. JBJ got only 1 hit out of 3 weeks. Pretty bad.

He's been worth every penny and more by any measure. Over the last two years he's been quite a bit more valuable than Adrian Gonzalez who's getting paid half again as much. Add: ...and for my money he's an even better defender.

I don't disagree with any of that. Just hard for me on principle to say out load any human being is worth $16 million for doing anything.
Defense probably not quite as good as has been reported by some people, but he's been really good.

Are they saying on NESN why Middlebrooks is on deck ? And he looked awful, swung at three pitches in the dirt. now batting under 180. AWFUL.

He may learn to hit, but it won't be with the Red Sox. Too bad, because he's a pretty good defender, but I'd rather watch JBJ hit than WMB.
