Two games the Bogaerts is trash. Extreme in the least, especially for Speier. Is the Globe disease infectious?

"the team is betraying subtle signs of anxiety about a player for whom patience is both required but also something other than endless." is pretty far from "Bogaerts is trash". Speier of all of the beat writers chooses his words very carefully.
They took a lineup they were using the entire spring and have already tweaked it while Bogaerts hasn't looked all that great (and it's not just the two games - he didn't look great in the spring from what I read (admission that I didn't see any ST games)). Pointing that out isn't the same as screaming the sky is falling because the ball isn't falling in for him.

I could have chosen a better word, but these kinds of stories are irritating. And if it is an accurate reflection of team management anxiety - and I am not saying it isn't - then some anti-anxiety medication is called for. They already have screwed with this kid and should know better.

Michael Silverman ?@mikesilvermanbb 12s13 seconds ago Red Sox now leaning towards starting Joe Kelly, not S. Wright, on Sat vs Yankees. Based on encouraging bullpen from Kelly yesterday.
Rob Bradford ?@bradfo 18s19 seconds ago Farrell says Joe Kelly will stsrt against Yankees Sat. after all

Tim Britton ?@timbritton 22 sec. Forget what we said yesterday. Joe Kelly back in line to start Saturday for Red Sox after encouraging bullpen session.

Xander Bogaerts after 8 PA: 26 wRC+ Jose Iglesias after 8 PA: 483 wRC+
Yup, we clearly traded away the wrong guy. #FireCherington

Iglesias slotted at SS for this ground ball oriented team would look pretty decent IMO.

This is actually somewhat interesting: Year | Bases empty K% | Bases empty BB% | Men on K% | Men on BB% | 2012 | 14.2% | 2.6% | 13.0% | 9.1% | 2013 | 21.7% | 4.0% | 15.6% | 8.3% | 2014 | 17.5% | 3.1% | 11.8% | 7.8% |
RISP numbers are even worse than overall men on numbers. Basically, Porcello has been pitching much worse with men on than with the bases empty. If better coaching / gamecalling could teach him to always pitch as well as he does with the bases empty, he could be pretty damn good. Ergo even more reason why better defense behind him should help.

Come on Paps, you know what you gotta do. Papelbon has got to be one of the dumbest players in mlb. That was so ignorant even a 5 year old would know better. And this is after he trashed Boston upon leaving the city earlier. Unbelievably ignorant.

Wow, Hanley is locked in. You can't hit a ball harder than that line drive.

Masterson's getting some movement on his pitches, but the velocity has been middling (87-90) with the fastball, and he's gotten lucky with some missed locations a few times.

Tomorrow it will look like a bases clearing screamer into the gap. We will take it though, and so will he. Masterson pours salt in the wound.

I saw in my cristal ball this morning Porcello having an RBI hit today. You really need to get that crystal ball calibrated.

All of this is the result of good lineup construction.

Alex Speier @alexspeier The story wasn't suggesting 2 games as a sufficient sample to glimpse struggle. Instead, meant to offer window into some of the... Alex Speier @alexspeier ...conversations happening around Bogaerts and potential dilemmas presented by the possibility of sustained struggle.
