I just put on Game day at exactly the right time. I love this kid. I hope he's the lone Red Sox all-star. He's been the every man for this team and has been the best overall hitter. What more do people want from him?

Yeah, we'd win a lot more if we had guy hitting for the cycle everyday. Heck, even if our team hit for the cycle everyday....

I still can't tell if Holt is legit, but with the cycle, a 141 wRC+, and the highest OPS on our team, it's looking like he very well may be. I really think it's time to stop even mentioning Holt in trade discussions (if we're sellers at the deadline), unless the front office is absolutely blown away by an offer. Holt is irreplacable in his role with this team. I know they're working Coyle, Marrerro, Shaw, and Cecchini at different positions, but none of those players have the ability, in my opinion, to play 7 different defensive positions while hitters near .300.

I see the Red Sox are beginning to show their skill and talents in making every game a loss. This team refuses to win and they will not let a 7 run lead in the 9th perturb them of that goal.

Well this was a refreshing change of pace. Pitching AND hitting?! Don't spoil me now, Red Sox. They clearly heard me and stopped playing defense.

I've never been so nervous with a 7 run lead in the 9th. Um, nice win?

ADD: If Mookie went deep there, my guess is that it would have been the first time in history that 2 players achieved the cycle in back to back AB's. Probably even in the same game.

I mean, he's been an asset for the better part of a season and a half now. I know he didn't get the fanfare and adulation of a top prospect, but at some point this guy deserves the 'good player' label, right?

If I wasn't in love with brock, I'd want him traded while his value is so high.

He's probably not going to be this good every year, but I think he'll continue to be a really nice asset. I advocated starting him at third instead of signing Sandoval. I don't see him as the ideal long-term 3B, but I still think he was a better alternative than taking on Sandoval's contract.

He's walking almost twice as much this year, which is great if its legit/sustainable. I'm slowly becoming a believer.

I had the Braves announcers on. They said Sandoval has gained 33 pounds since the start of the season. SF weighed him EVERY day. Sox don't. Soft country clubbing Red Sox baseball.

First Sox win since Hatfield made that Battle for a playoff spot thread: We kno who to blame now. Always seemed to do his best hitting when at his fatest. Problem is his mobility has been limited to 12 inches each way.

How would the Braves announcers know this if the Red Sox don't weigh him? The Red Sox don't weigh him, but the Braves announcers do? It also doesn't sound plausible. I realize the guy tends to pack on pounds but 33 since the start of the season? Thanks for passing along such reliable information.

To be fair, by my eye, he's gained a little weight since the start of the season. I thought he looked positively svelte coming out of Spring Training, but it looks to me like he's a little wider now than he was then. No way it's 33 lbs, though.
