Starting this earlier than normal but with the announcement that Gilmore is the DPOY, congratulations!

Maybe Mike Pennel would have helped this season... he's holding back Henry right now.

Maybe Mike Pennel would have helped this season... he's holding back Henry right now. I saw that, he was getting it done. He was rated high and it was a surprise to see him get let go by the Pats when it happened.

Not that he would be part of this offseason, but there is yet another police involved incident ongoing with AB per Kyed (and others).

While I'd have hoped NE could have kept Jimmy a couple years ago, that didn't happen. Same for hoping Gronk would stick around. Time passes... and I'd hope TB has another couple years left. I see a good bit of offseason roster churn - as is most always the case. Wish list: that other teams' fans could have even a sliver of the joy I've experienced these past 20 years. Whether TB stays or goes, there's good in either option for NE. He stays, we pick up some weapons... who knows? He leaves, cap flexibility, Stidham (or a FA signing) takes over with a pretty good team surrounding him. NE will be in the playoff hunt, just not as the top dog everyone gears up for as in years past.

Maybe Mike Pennel would have helped this season... he's holding back Henry right now. It was there game plan stop the run at all cost, which allowed them to make a ton of big plays passing. Our D even with Henry going off gave up 14 points. The Chiefs gave up more. If you can't win while only giving up 14 points, something else is wrong.

Eli Manning is retiring. Still wish he retired in 2006 or so. Or that the refs would call a damn holding. Or that Asante Samuel caught the ball.

Reports saying we are looking at trading for Hayden Hurst TE Baltimore. Which is interesting.
Combine starts tomorrow, which officially starts the off-season for me. Draft Magazines start hitting shelf's next week, can't wait.

Lots of sentiment that the Pats haven't even talked to Brady and he is telling folks he is definitely hitting FA. (Schefter now reporting). I'm shocked that Kraft would let negotiations go like that, if true.

Some people had already reported (and Schefter and others are finally on board) that it's due to the lack of a CBA. Even Don Yee (Brady's agent) has admitted to as much.
I'm shocked that Schefter didn't either know or, at least, speculate that would be the case on a contract like Brady's (where many of the nuances of the cap could come in to play). Quite frankly, I think he does (did) but it serves his interests to leave out context sometimes.

As Miguel points out, the 30% rule would greatly impact how they do a Brady deal (if it gets done). Whether or not that rule applies in the new CBA is yet to be determined.

Yeah, I expect reactionary/incendiary talk from folks like Jeff Darlington, but I took the bait on Schefter's initial report. He should have done better. Jeff Howe has a reasonable and interesting look on all the Pats free agents (athletic sub required): theathletic.com/1640680/2020/02/27/tom-brady-patriots-offseason-plans/I still believe Kraft ensures Tom's legacy and keeps the discussions from getting too cold or contentious, because it's his legacy on the line as well. Even if Brady leaves, I expect him to be celebrated on the way out.

Chase Claypool just ran a 4.42 40 as a huge WR. We need a guy like him so teams can't box in our short passing game. He was crazy good at Notre Dame with a so so QB who doesn't throw a good deep ball. The fact that nobody has him as a top 10 WR is kinda crazy. I know it's a loaded class, but if he had a better QB he'd be a first round pick.

Since 2003 only two WRs have been 6'4" or taller, 235 pounds or heavier and ran under a 4.45 40. Calvin Johnson and now Chase Claypool.

And way faster. A tad light? He was 194 at the combine and frankly didn't really have a good combine. 4.38 40, 33" vertical. I don't know if he didn't try or he just plays that different in pads. He played like a guy with 4.3 speed and 40 plus inch vertical. Claypool is 238, ran a 4.42 with a 40.5" vertical. Which isn't a huge surprise and he has very good ball skills. If he had a better QB he would have been a lock for the first round. For years Notre Dame waisted very good WRs with great speed and deep ball ability because we played a running QB, then a weak armed short pass guy.

Just a thought that has some how not been talked about much or at all while the Pats O has struggled a bit over the past few years. Toms decision to not take part in the off season. He has earned the right but their is a reason he always did in the past so it can't be totally discounted now that he isn't, especially last year with all the turnover and 1st year players. I have to imagine that this is another point of contention between coach and qb, Tom isn't quite doing all that he can to lead and prosper with his skill players.
Just a thought. Happy wife, happy life, can't blame him for wanting to keep her happy, she is the bread winner and a pretty good catch. LOL

If Brady doesn't sign a deal before free agency starts, don't be surprised if Bill moves quick and signs a guy like Marcus Mariota. He seems to fit our system.
I love Brady and want him back, yet you can't play the waiting game at QB. So the longer this takes the chances he actually might leave go up. He already knows which teams are interested.
We also have a bunch of needs and not a ton of money. This is shaping up to be one epic off-season.

... the Pats O has struggled a bit over the past few years ... I don't know about "struggled" & "last few years." This past year wasn't great but in 2018 Total Offense was 4th in points, 5th in yards & in 2017 it was better: 2nd in points, 1st in yards. I'm not sure I see a correlation between TB missing some voluntary Spring workouts and regular season offensive success. Seems more like a talk radio topic.

Lol Umm I've seen him throw it much further and they are showing interest. He's an athletic high IQ guy that has shown he can play in the NFL. He wasn't that bad till their offensive line was horrible. If no Brady that wouldn't surprise me. Bring him in let him compete with Stidham, then draft another guy.
Hill hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL per Football Reference.

That may be true but once upon a time he placed a lot of value on it. Can't just discount the effects it had when he was doing it, did it just become unimportant?
