It is hard for me to get my head around a 400 foot home run by a 13-year-old, let alone 500+ feet.

After some waiting, it turns out the bonus info we had on Jordan's and Drohan's agreements was spot on.

According to Callis, all 160 players drafted have now signed.

I believe there has been another Red Sox UDFA signing in local product Nathan Tellier, RHP (note: 2-way player in college) from UMass-Dartmouth:

Also, Chris retweeted this last week, but for those that missed another UDFA signing:

Hey umass, our alma mater(different campus for me) ....
Jen McCaffrey @jcmccaffrey The Red Sox announce they've signed two non-drafted free agents: RHP Nate Tellier (UMass Dartmouth) RHP Joey Stock (St. John’s University)

The truncated draft makes the UDFA signings kind of wild. Looking at the list, there are guys who are really interesting, especially with the pitchers. Could be one of those strange drafts that result in surprises in 2-3 more years. A guy like Merfy Andrew who throws 100 and might not gave gotten the kind of coaching he’s about to get? Yes please.

If the Sox lose a system or two in the minors, are they going to remedy the extra players by having bigger rosters? I imagine a few cuts but there stacked with kids.

There are roster limits in the minors, just like in the major leagues. You can't just keep 40 or 50 guys on a team. Plus, many of those at the end of the roster would be better served playing more often somewhere vs riding the bench. Or maybe it's just time to call it the end of the road and move on professionally to your next career.

Bold prediction.
Teams will develop stateside baseball academies similar to what the Royals did in the 80's. That worked in spite of all the poopooing that went on.
If that happens, signing 16 UDFAs is brilliant.

I'd be stunned if the Red Sox don't have 2 GCL teams next year - the math doesn't even work if they don't.

An academy more similar to how things are at the alt site except players aren't on a roster. The Royals had one in the early 80's. They could easily include physical training and performance analysis or even center things around that. If you can create Kelly LeBrock, you can create a better baseball player.

They've got the ST complex large enough for it with 2 smaller fields to go with the main stadium. The new complex isn't as massive as it was in winter haven (5 total fields), but would be large enough. Possibly build another building alongside to use as a locker room for excess players like they had in WH.

I meant the same thing, but put it poorly. My point is they're going to have like 50 guys milling about. You're literally describing extended spring training. They have five full baseball fields out back plus the other regular field for working out.

How funny and shows how much attention paid to the complex when we go down to Ft Myers.. Usually the GCL team plays in the main ST stadium, or in the 1st so called MiLB field closest to the main stadium. Guess either hadn't noticed, or just forgot the other fields..
Makes sense tho the 5 total. I remember an PG tourney going on while we were down there 2-3 years ago that was massive.. More I type this out, more comes back that wife and I walked around the complex and watched some of the youngsters at various fields that few days.
