I mean considering the injuries it absolutely matched up with his stuff. Prior to this season he had an ERA + over 100 in 6 of 7 seasons. He just didn’t pitch a ton due to a freak leg injury and a UCL he tried to rehab. The one season he was below a 100 was his little taste coming back from TJ So again, this is exactly what I’m talking about. The criticism isn’t grounded in reality I’ll put you in the “Richards is worth the $10 mill” group then? Bloom was gambling that the $10 million would be worth it...., so far not so much.

Everybody knows Nelson de la Rosa, but who is Karim Garcia?

Can't cut him yet. Way too early. If he turns it around he could help the RS make the PS. If he doesn't, well, I guess he could help secure a better pick in the '22 draft!
Seriously, I think he's still a few lousy starts away from the BP. He'll get more rope.

In other news, the Blue Jays’ defense is brutal. Honestly, the defense in our whole division is pretty brutal.

This is part of my beef with Franchy. Bottom 5th, he is so helpless against lefties, he’s out. So down an OF. Use Arroyo. So you have Renfroe and your *only* other catcher left. Can Franchy really not face Tommy Milone? I assume you move Marwin to left, keep Arroyo at 2b. But that is weak. Add: AND.... he bats NINTH. So even if he whiffs, it is, well, what it is. 1 out, lead off hitter. Franchy is not a huge double play danger with his speed.

Agreed, definitely a gamble and nothing to show for it so far. I'd also add that while Bloom likely evaluates the individual transactions I also suspect that he's focused on the big picture. This might be a 10M bogey (or less if he regains his magic later this year) and it's a clear disappointment, but that just means he's going to need to see his other transactions exceed their value by 10M for the offseason to break even. Whitlock alone might do that.

Especially considering he faced him in his last AB.

The question marks and frustrations are all acquisitions from this off season.

Richards is awful. He should be moved to the bullpen.

I have my complaints obviously, but having watched our East competition (except the Yankees), I am not impressed (and sight unseen, the Yankees seem to suck right now). The Sox — like even the best teams — have weaknesses. Still, they actually look like the best team in the division. Just stay healthy!

Whitlock alone might do that. As a whole, IMO, Bloom has done a marvelous job!! I am one of his biggest fans. Pivetta and Seabold was a steal compared to what he gave up, the same goes for the Moreland deal. Mookie was gone!!!! I said on several sites two years before that Mookie would sign with the Dodgers as they had the money and Mookie wanted the glitz, and rather than let him walk Bloom got Verdugo and company. Arauz was a nice piece, Whitlock was a great find!! Bloom is fantastic, but no one bats 1.000, and Richards was a miss (but it was a very thin market for starters) oh well it happens.....

Not only do the Red Sox look the best in the division, but I think they have the depth in the position players as well as the pitching staff to with stand both injuries and under performance.
