I kind of like it. The top 10 is pretty close to my personal top 10 at the moment.

If Yorke continues to rake at Greenville any chance someone puts him in the top 100?

Mayer top 10 in baseball feels aggressive right now (they actually seem relatively really high on all the new draftees), but I will take it. Nice to have a guy in that conversation at least.

Agree with all this. I'd swap Bello and Downs. Maybe sneak Murphy (if he continues to pitch anywhere near like he did in his last outing) or Seabold in at 10. Either way, I think I'd put them at 10 & 11, with Gilberto dropping to 12. Something like that. I also like that they're aggressive on Walter, Decker, Blalock, Liu, McDonough, Kavadas, and a few others. Assuming they're getting some reports from scouts that are glowing RE Walter, Blalock, & Liu). I'd have Crawford higher and Hernandez lower.

Something Callis said back when he was with BA has stuck with me. He said that for each top 30 prospect, they try to get at least 10 in house scouting reports and at least 10 competitive team scouting reports.

No Potts or Rosario in the top 30 on another list makes me think they'll be the counter move for Brasier and Bazardo. Also, can't wait for the eventual rise of Bleis (national writers) once he gets to the states.

The MLB pipeline rankings look like they weigh recent performance more heavily (relative to, say, BA or Fangraphs), which is probably why they resonate more with folks on this forum who check MiLB box scores every morning.

For positional rankings, MLB has the Red Sox with:
#1 1B Casas #6 2B Yorke #4 SS Mayer #9 3B Jordan #7 OF Duran
They have the Red Sox with grades of at least 50 all the way down to Chris Murphy at #11. That's a pretty solid improvement from where they've been, though I think they're maybe a little high on a few guys.

Pretty substantial movement here. I love the jump on Yorke. the bat is showing as special. If he can be across the board average at the other things, defense, speed, baserunning, range, arm, then this kid is going to be electric. Kid is showing some power, and has insane bat to ball skills. I just argued in another thread that 30 is closer to where Song belongs. Also, I need to follow Chris Murphy a little closer it seems.

The Brandon Walter write up and claim by a club official as the best mound prospect in the system was eye opening (although I presume hyperbole) . The huge k numbers jumped out all season but figured it was guile and level of competition thing

3 Sox made MLB all star of the week. C: Ronaldo Hernández, Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A) (Red Sox No. 22) .500/.563/.929, 5 G, 7-for-14, HR, 3 2B, 5 RBI, 3 R, 0 BB, 4 K, CS
The Red Sox acquired the former Top-100 prospect in a February swap for Chris Mazza and Jeffrey Springs, but he struggled to make much of his offensive stroke through the first three-plus months of the season. Hernández seemed to find himself last week with hits in exactly half of his at-bats and four of his seven knocks going for extra bases. Raw power has never been the issue for the backstop; rather, an aggressive approach that keeps him from taking walks has earned him the most demerits. That didn’t turn around last week, but it should be a boon for him that hits started to fall in. Hernández is hitting .253/.297/.456 with 12 homers in 73 games for Portland this season. . . . 2B: Nick Yorke, Salem Red Sox (Low-A) (Red Sox No. 4) .478/.500/1.000, 5 G, 11-for-23, 3 HR, 3B, 2B, 10 RBI, 11 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Boston’s decision to take Yorke 17th overall last year certainly raised a lot of eyebrows at the time, considering he was seen as a second-round talent at best. But the Sox always believed in the California native’s bat, and he is proving worthy of that faith in his first full season. Yorke had hits in all five of last week’s games at Lynchburg and picked up two or more in four of them, including a 3-for-6, two-homer performance on Saturday. That was the right-handed slugger’s second career multihomer game, backing up another that happened 13 days prior and also came against the Hillcats. Yorke is hitting .323/.413/.500 with 10 homers in 76 games this season and leads all Boston full-season Minor Leaguers with a 147 wRC+. He is headed to High-A Greenville next following an off-day promotion. . . . LHP: Chris Murphy, Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A) (Red Sox No. 11) 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 G, 1 GS, 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K, 0.29 WHIP
Having been robbed of a first full season in 2020, the 2019 sixth-rounder is doing his best to make up for lost time, having already climbed to Double-A. His outing last Tuesday at home against Binghamton was his first scoreless appearance through three starts for Portland and arguably his best performance of the entire campaign. Murphy sports three above-average pitches in his fastball, slider and changeup and has had little issue generating strikeouts with the Sea Dogs, having fanned 21 in 17 innings while sporting a 2.12 ERA since his promotion from High-A Greenville earlier this month. www.mlb.com/news/prospect-team-of-the-week-august-23-2021

In reality though I'm glad to see Casas on there for best defensive 1b in double A NE. Then again haven't reports on his defense recently been not so good? Little surprised by it.

Here's what Chris said on his defense in the Casas thread: Is he "winding up above average" that much ahead of schedule?
The one report I got was something of an outlier that very much surprised me. That said, these manager survey lists must always be taken with a grain of salt (am I right for vaguely recalling Ryan Lavarnway getting best defensive catcher once? or am I thinking of him getting Red Sox minor league DPOTY?), but especially this year given that teams are only playing intradivision games. For example, in the Double-A Northeast, only 5 of the 11 other teams' managers have seen Portland this year. And one team - Reading - had only seen Casas for 3 games prior to last week, so in Casas' case now you're talking 4. They really ought to have done it by divisions within leagues for that reason. On the other hand, the six-game series schedule, plus seeing fewer teams, probably does give managers a better idea than they otherwise would about the players they did play against, so that's a mark in favor of this feature. Back to the Casas thing specifically, evaluating 1B defense is always kind of hard unless there's a JT Snow, Doug Mienkiewicz type who's excellent defensively and an obvious pick. Here, all this means that the 5 opposing managers in his division probably had more of a consensus about him than the managers in the other division did about anyone in theirs. 3 votes was probably enough for any of these things. But I'll repeat - the fact that the national outlets have not really been talking about how the schedule changed player development this year (that I've seen at least!) is kind of driving me nuts.

15 Casas 29 Mayer 37 Duran 64 Yorke Mayer and Yorke do it the opposite ways: Mayer on reputation before the draft, Yorke —ignored at the draft — rakes his way in. Interesting.

I'm a believer in the Casas ranking, though it's interesting that he keeps rising without putting up really gobsmacking numbers.
On the other hand, there's Duran in the 30s again, and I continue to not really get it. Even despite the much greater distance to MLB I'd easily rank Yorke higher.
