Now look, I'm not going to say that Rodriguez pitched well in that inning. But he had a FIP of 2.16, an xFIP of 2.16, and an ERA of 27.00.
Just sayin.
I love ERod, and the eye test certainly says he’s better than his numbers, but… there comes a point when you have the same disparity between FIP and box score so many times that that defense starts to ring hollow. A few games, fine. But a season? Then I am more skeptical of the theoretical stats that real-world outcomes. I'm being a little facetious in my comment above, but the truth is that it hasn't been all season. It was basically a 7-game stretch, from 5/12 to 6/15, where he just had catastrophically bad luck, according to both the stats and what I saw of those games myself. Outside of that his season has been basically normal - sometimes he overperforms his peripherals and sometimes he underperforms.
Since 6/22 (until today): 3.03 ERA/3.26 FIP/3.25 xFIP

4 year is crazy. He is looking at a Richards contract to rebuild his values. I think you’re going to be very surprised Hopefully it's some other team that is stupid enough to give out a 4 year contract.

How much longer must we see Cordero look so timid and strikeout at the big league level. He is a much better in triple where he looks relaxed at the plate but always looks late and unsure in the Majors.

Alex Speier Red Sox not really close on anything right now. Protecting the farm system. Alex adds they are more likely to make a move right before 4 pm tomorrow. Owners want moves made.

What about a guy whose career fip is a whole run better or worse than career era? What do you say about a guy whose career fip is 4 but his era is 3 and he is a perennially good pitcher?

trade everyone for Scherzer !!! I know some think that other thread is a dumpster fire. I find it genuinely entertaining. Say what you want, but Sox fans are pretty intense.

at this point, ERod is a bit of a mess. Real command issue. Seems to have the stuff ..all in his head?
edited to add ...more than just a bit of a mess.

This is gonna be a split, too bad.
Do we want to look back the the history of ERod, he had 2 problems with his knees, both had subluxation surgeries. Last year was covid follow by myocarditis. Now he has migraines. If spelling is wrong I ‘m sorry.

I would offer Edrod a 4/60 contract max right now and if he says no, use the QO on him and get a pick and move on Until it doesn't happen I'll keep saying it wouldn't surprise me for erod to take the QO. 19 mil for a year to bet on yourself sounds a lot better than a 4 year 60 mil deal. He's talented enough to put up a year like he did in 2019. Exactly why I would hope to put the QO on him.

Totally a lucky walk, I mean 9 out of 10 times the guy whiffs on that discount that run that doesn't count either.

Chaim, this is your wake up call, this team needs to add. I'm not quite sure what your point is. I fully expect them to win 8-7 after melting the Jays' bullpen in the 8th.

Why have 1 first baseman who can't hit when you can have 2?

Why have 1 first baseman who can't hit when you can have 2? Don't stop there. I'm pretty sure we have 5 (Dalbec, Chavis, Gonzalez, Franchy, Santana). Surely a modern-era record of some kind.

Workman should be DFA’ed mid-inning. He isn’t even a quality BP pitcher at this point.
