This seems really quick and effective. Wouldn't care if this added an extra 10 minutes for that matter. There's not enough challenges for a umpire like Angel Hernandez unfortunately though.

Rangers hire Bochy. Interesting. I thought he was retired.

Apparently there's a recycling program for used managers

Apparently the set of MLB managers is like my musical taste: pretty much determined around the turn of the century and unchanged since then.

I mean, there's retreads and there's 3x WS winning, first-ballot HOFers. The Rangers must've cut him a pretty fat check.

Do they gave a big wave of prospects? They have some really intriguing prospects. Josh Jung, Owen White, Justin Foscue, Aaron Zavala, Ronald Acuna's brother Luisangel Acuna and Dustin Harris. Of course they do have the Leiter and Rocker duo, but I don't think either are in the majors this year.

So he's getting paid either way. I feel like owing 5-7% less of your income in state income taxes while also paying a much higher rate on property taxes and a moderately high rate on sales taxes is not as decisive a factor in people's major life decisions as some of you seem to think it is.

Not to mention IIRC that they pay state taxes when their games are played in states that do have a tax further reducing the impact of tax break.

The good news is I don't see the Yankees doing any of that outside of signing Judge and even that may not happen(I read the Dodgers are lurking with Mookie willing to move to 2nd) . It's extremely unlikely they push the payroll up past 300 million.

Imagine if Judge was actually worth 18 wins.* He'd get over $100 million/year...
*only two fewer than Jonny Gomes!

I was wondering about this earlier, but how much more does San Fran need to bid more than NY for it to make sense for Judge? Like just from a marketing/endorsements perspective being the face of the New York Yankees and the Home Run King wearing pinstripes is probably more lucrative than being a San Francisco Giant, right? The Giants aren't even the pre-eminent team in their own city (Warriors, 49ers?). Maybe I'm offbase on how much that matters, but I'm really curious if it factors in

I think SF is the most interesting since he grew up in that area as a Giant fan. That might factor more than anything.

Must feel nice to be the Giants GM and have anonymous sources telling your fans that they're definitely going to sign Aaron Judge otherwise the offseason is a huge disappointment.

I take it to mean that the idea is that the Giants plan to make a mega offer to Judge with the caveat that if they don't have the highest bid, they'll want him to come back to them and they'll top it.
Sounds like they want to make a Barry Bonds like splash and like they did with Bonds they just might steal him away from the Yankees. As an aside the Yankeee were about to sign Bonds as a free agent and the Giants swooped in and took him away from the Yankees.
Wonder if history repeats here. The Giants certainly need a middle of the order bat.
I figure if Judge doesnt return to NY, SF is the most likely place. I just dont see the Dodgers or Mets as much.

I accept the Giants driving up the price the Yankees finally pay.
