Because it's not Monday yet. Thanks for the snark. As if I don’t get enough at work. Or home. It was a question that gets asked a lot, every year and if pay attention to yearly deadline signings would notice many are signed and sealed after team FO's decide to announce at the last few minutes, like sometimes after the cutoff.

Off topic but do the FCL guys get pizza parties with undefeated weeks like the DSL teams? The organization might need to up the pizza budget next year with DSL Blue and this year's HS draftees playing at the complex. Kind of off topic, but have thought for years, like since the team moved to Ft Myers for ST and then started the FCL team, why not spend the money on an older, in distress hotel that has gone under, or build some type of dormitory style housing option for the people they have in Ft Myers, single guys that is. It would be an excellent expenditure and help mostly young kids not making much and many not used to a new culture be all in one group.

I can see letting Bogaerts go. But my suggestion is still that they offer him the Trevor Story deal with the options going this way and that, but for 30M instead of 23. It's 5 years but could be 4 or 6. Only way I see Bloom/Henry offering him 30m and 5y is if Bogaerts agrees to switch to 3b, where the defense doesn't sting as much and also? Waive bye-bye to hopes of a Devers extension in all probability, except for the fans in the "Boston has highest ticket prices", "owners can afford anything" crowd. Believe another frontline starter may be the next splurge.

buddy of mine threw a football before games because it helped with his changeup Sox reliever Okajima used to start flipping this large, ping pong looking paddle in the BP back and forth with his LH (pitching hand) very quickly starting around mid game. He did this every time saw him at The Trop, like some kind of wrist flexing for his pitching wrist if he was called upon to warm up.

Do we really need a backup SS since Story is on the team? When Xander needs a day off, Story goes to SS and Arroyo goes to 2B. This was my argument to keep Yolmer Sanchez over Arauz. It's pretty clear that Arauz made the team because he's already on the 40-man -- it certainly wasn't because he performed well in his third spring training with the team. Also, Yolmer clearly agreed to not exercise his opt-out, so he's a GG 2B standing by in Worcester (although with competition from Fitzy for being next IF up). I really hope that Arauz takes that next step that we've been waiting two seasons for but if he doesn't, the depth is there. Can't help but wonder how long the leash will be.
My sentiments as well. Understand Remy loved the guy, but my 2c is Sanchez and fitzgerald both would have been equals, or better. Roster spot and for some reason.. Fear of losing the guy must have played a part, but why for an AAAA type utility guy, who they currently have better people available who could help the parent team win always baffles me when choices like this are made.

Been strange season for top pitchers in games I've seen. FSU supposed to have a vaunted staff, but 2 games have seen, right now (6th in) and they are struggling vs lowly Bethune-Cookman and 1 of FSU's best, Freshman Carson Montgomery looked terrible and barely went 5.
Henson from Texas looked good in a game (6 innings) earlier this week. Most of the rated guys just have not had it in games have seen early on.

Good looking sign. Only negative can see so far with the 2 lefties brought in and 1 pretty effective guy in Diekman.. Is Taylor someone another team is looking for in some deal?

I think I’ve actually come around on Correa. Build around him and Devers. Go cheap elsewhere. I love Correa. But wow $35 over 10 each year is a lot for a player who isn’t even top 5 ( debatable top 10) at his position. I also don’t feel it’s a chain type move. One thing as we look at Xander leaving next year possibly- I believe dansby is a free agent next year also. Granted who knows what it would take just saying there will be options should he show money is not good enough here Can't see Bloom commiting 35m (area) over 10y at this time to any player. think about it.. 2y ago, he traded away top 5 player in the game he could have probably kept for that.

Not only did he refuse the Mets team physical, but Rocker and boras were attempting to force feed the met front office some medical records from a dr boras had found. Anybody who has had a serious medical issue knows full well about going dr shopping, or that different dr's can and will have differing opinions on an issue. When there is the possibility of a serious one? It's always best to have multiple. coming from someone who has been down that line.. i know exactly how it can be and sometimes 2 dr's will differ on diagnosis and treatments even for a serious issue. With the Mets and Rocker, all the media hoopla about an elbow issue and Boras wanting to force the mets into going by some dr HE had found and that medical reference only? it was beyond preposterous on both his and rocker's part to think the mets would have any trust/faith in doling out millions for possible damaged goods and they knew it, which is why they refused a proper medical evaluation.. Scared of the results. I'm ready for the payoff: "With the 21st pick in the 2022 draft, the Boston Red Sox select... Kumar Rocker, pitcher from Vanderbilt." All the talent in the world. Worst thing (to me) is would probably give up 2y of the 4 team control before eligible for the rule5 draft with TJ and recoup time. Him getting.. 2.5? 3m? whatever slot is for 21st is no big deal. BTW.. He's not pitching again in Indy ball this year, right? Didn't that idea get scuttled?

Feels odd going down south Florida and memorial blvd in Lakeland (where Tigertown is located) and seeing the place with no action this time of year as was yesterday when wife and I drove by Joker Marchant stadium. Place was vacant, except for few cars in the lot.
Wonder if the league will try and do something with MiLB kids in late March should the lockout extend and push that package as some "premium" view and have an extended ST for them in the larger stadiums (AAA teams) and attempt to televise as many as can coax broadcaster into?

My gosh Jimed.. I couldn't help but read that and just gawk at how someone can believe this (while true now in many parts of the country) and continue to vote politicians who vote/enact these, as well as worse into law.
It wasn't always this way and many remember when free enterprise was exactly that. dollar tied to gold standard.
I suggest stop empowering lunatics in office for a start who promise further lunatic policies and old men without a clue as to what day it is.

Going to make a guess, which is probably pretty close that non government union employee representive ployment is I'm guessing around 20% of the population now that many states have FORCED them and companies from being able to deduct wages from those not wanting any part of them and realize they, for the most part are nothing but a political and top heavy beaurocratic mess. Right to work states have this one correct. BTW.. That link is broken, or down should say with multiple foreign language texts.. Go figure..

Winchowski's velocity was outstanding in the AFL, which is where a lot of people would've seen him. There's obviously something about breaking into the Top 10, but the drop from 10 to 13 is pretty negligible. Mata going up from 6 to 4 despite not pitching this year is quite a thing. Winckowski looked good to me back in ST last year cpl of chances he got before the regulars had much time to play in short outings. If remember right, the FB was there, in mid 90's consistent and the slider was tight both times he got the chance to go an inning, which reminded me of the old "let's use the guy for what he is" thing, instead of another Buttrey, Zeferjon where the years of control are wasted away at something they are not.

Can still remember that beauty of a curve he was throwing down at The Fort in a game saw on one of the MiLB fields several years back, along with a FB believe was in 91-2 range back then. The curve was unworldly, but how long, even with injuries added in can it take? Will it ever come together for this guy?
My hopes started dimming before last year. It's been 6y now guys and even with the injuries added.. definite progress needs to be made.

Where's Tommy Heinsohn when you need him? Heinsohn was the greatest on C's broadcasts. Can remember him always saying J-O-E K-L-E-I-N really slow, drawn out and deep voiced whenever Joe would do something Heinsohn liked while with the team.

Pathetic personal attack towards Sarasoxer.. He sees the kids 1st hand who manage to make it past the DSL league a LOT faster than most everyone else here does and was just asking a simple question, not asking for some knucklehead to show how non brilliant they are.. Hope u and Steve from Bradenton doing ok Sarasoxer.. One day we'll all get together for a game somewhere close, or down at the Fort. Thanks JohnSilver52, appreciate your defense for Sarasoxer. Love to get together this year with you both. Some folks on here can be quite sarcastic. We love watching and following these kids, but some can be quite negative. I understand where Sarasoxer is coming from my self. Hopefully their system works, spending on lots of kids for less, but I'd have loved them going all-out like the Yanks to sign a Dominguez. Hey Steve, Wife is my wheels now since unable to drive last several years any longer. Probably one of the FSL teams close to you 2 as home team would be best over the summer, tho we have been talking about this meet for years. HAHA. We've got to make it happen 1 day. Didn't catch but *1* FSL Tigers game all last year, tho did see a bunch of afternoon GCL tiger games. Hope u guys had better luck with local teams.

Are the results finalized? Summary? How did we do vis a vis? For some reason I keep getting email reports that the Yankees again signed the cream...this year the new Wander....hope it's not true. Maybe they threw big bucks at very top rated guys while we spread $ around hoping that quantity will out produce the top guys? Are we on par with the Yankees when it comes to scouting/finding/signing top talents or are we down the competitive list? And we finally have our first, "They don't spend on IFA guys" complaint of the year! Thanks for coming out everyone. Same time next year? Pathetic personal attack towards Sarasoxer.. So what it's turning into is a basic money grab by adding the additional playoff teams as a way to cajole certain ones to start spending more, rather than putting pen to paper with a number all must spend each year regardless. That is my 2c.
Understand the union wants more money for it's clients, spreading out the number of available suitors is the intelligent way, but IMO forcing each and every team to spend a certain amount, or lose a % of say.. national TV revenue, which is shared, would be a better way than watering down the sport into a nothingness that has become the nba.

I always hear the term revenue sharing, like it's some fix all term for what is wrong, but IMO it's not. The problem is 10 or so teams just don't spend on salary for players and the salary cap in itself holds them down further by constantly being haggled over at being as low as possible each and every period. Why the MLBPA doesn't just demand a salary floor of 100m-ish area and either keeping the cap at 210m area, even raising it and letting the owners squabble among themselves if some want to support the ones crying poor is beyond me. I agree. MLBPA determining how the owners should split revenue isn't the best way to go, and likely pisses off the owners. Using other systems to force them to figure it out is the better way to go. That's always been my point. Negotiations are fine, but cannot have any union, or group of employees telling the brass how to split up profits, that is for them to do in a *fair* and *equitable* way. Why a group of 30 separate owners allows 1/3 (or less) to dictate terms every time bargaining comes up to me always drives me crazy and a reason thought initially that a Cohen brought into the group would stir some anger up. No need for these stoppages bending to those less than 1/3 group. Imagine myself if those never changing teams were financially supported more than they already are that the whining would still continue.

That free agency proposal would grant an extra year of freedom to a pretty small number of players. In a vacuum, it's a mild change to the system. But the owners are putting their foot down saying this is something you can't touch. If the players win this time, then they'll likely look for further gains the next time around. On the other hand, the owners immediately show some flexibility on the luxury tax number, even though their actual offer is a tiny increase. if the players don't fight over revenue sharing, then I don't see a huge gap to overcome for both sides. Maybe the players demand a small foothold on the free agency issue - free agency at 6 years or 5 years and 30.5 years old - and maybe the owners give it to them and resolve to fight further encroachment.

I hope they're in the trade market now for a starter. The free agency market for starters getting thin and the remaining options are less appealing by the day. The dollars goes up with teams getting more desperate to be the last team seated at the table with no partner. The Sox have trade chips. Jeter Downs and potentially Duran. I'd add dalbec to that list and for the right pitcher guys in the 10-20 range as a sweetener. Trade for someone and sign a guy like Michael Pineda. Pineda or a Rich Hill type guy ur not entirely sure about giving more than 80-100 innings and roll with either Houck/whitlock as the other guy, then Seabold/Crawford pick up some starts and of course they will sign another reclamation project-2. Bloom is good at that. Agreed 100% on trying to move Dalbec as the main chip for "some" mid rotation starter before his warts become more exploited. Sell as high as they can, if their is one on him regardless of late July-sept.

Maybe another way of looking at this is the Sox have more confidence in Houck and Whitlock taking the next step and being solid rotation pieces. If this was one of many other teams with lower expectations and budgets those 2 would already be penciled into the rotations right. I for one have been pushing for them to stay in the pens, maybe that isn't what the Sox have in mind. They are both 26 next season and have already proven they can get major league hitters out so maybe Chaim and crew see them as ready to be main stays in the rotation. I definitely think both are penciled into the rotation. I guess it's now Eovaldi/Sale/FA tbd/Whitlock/Houck as the starting 5. I'd guess Bloom signs Matz? Then he finds two guys in the bargain bin to replace Perez and Richards as "depth options" and Seabold and Crawford are further depth starting the season in AAA. 2 front end guys in Sale and Eovaldi for next year, it would have been equivalent of paying a mid-back end guy 18m+ long term, which isn't a good idea. More along thought lines of signing/trading for another SP if they go that way, or moving Houck/Whitlock into the rotation and attempting to sign Eovaldi, who has better "stuff" all the way around to a 3-4y extension, which could probably be done in the same 18-20m area. Been onboard the Matz train as for probable fairly reasonable FA's this year, like was on the Taijuan Walker one for possible undervalued guys last year.

I hope at least they’ve given him the F-18. The F-35 is a POS boondoggle and buggier than a new Microsoft update. Me thinks it's quality testing in general and can give a big example from when I was in the USN late70's-early 80's, both active and USNR.. 1st ship was on was an ancient, wooden hulled minesweeper built during the Korean war. It was nothing for amenities.. Water distillers always went on the blink, which meant no showers,, but equipment in our area always it seemed worked.. IOW.. No yellow/red tags fastened to them for you guys who know what I mean and were in the service. One of the reasons got out, was last ship was on was this almost new, Sub tender named USS Frank Cable which it seemed half our com equipment had tags constantly attached to it and the ship just was never able to head to sea because of various issues. Combine that, 2 FULL captains crawling about.. Nothing like a small ship where knew 1st names of every man on board.. Like the old 'sweeper.. Anyway.. New ship, nothing seemed to ever work? Forget that career.

Posted an article several days ago regarding everyone's favorite(!) manager Bobby V running for mayor of his hometown Stamford, Conn. Results in this evening and seems as tho, once again the poor sod came up short.. His concession speech apparently began with blaming the media, before finally getting around to congratulating his Dem. opponent winner.. Sound Valentine-esque? Beep You Lose
