Why all teams did not install something akin to this over the winter is beyond me.

Sox really need to go out and poach a decent PBP man for starters and although Youk and Middlebrooks are fair as color guys, not for more than a handful of games before they get stale.

Understand they want a former Sox player handling the color job, they need to find one who has the personality and voice to handle the job.

MLB should have dumped Reynolds years ago. He has no business being on air, a constant gaffe machine, without a clue.

Obvious why he's on air and understand why, but why not bring in someone who has a clue? David Simms (Seattle PBP announcer) is one of the best currently and would check off every box believe MLB is looking for and not saying that to be insensitive.. He's also 1 of my favorite announcers.

Does Reynolds chase away more fans than he brings in?

Thing is about paying him the 300m+ contract it would require.. Kiss any chance of a Devers deal coming together then. It's not going to happen no matter how much typing and wishing fans try to put it together by saying their is plenty of room for another huge salary. JH isn't going to pay another 300m+ salary after year before throwing 1 out.

Winckowski to the pen and forgeting about anything but his FB/slider combo would probably be a good help. I can't help but remember his nice ST games early last year, him sitting mid 90's and throwing nothing but the FB and slider then.

He's not a starter and the team already has enough fringe depth with Seabold, Murphy, Crawford and higher upside folks as well at AA and AAA. We see questionable relievers now getting 30-100m deals already this offseason. Time to develop some who we have.

Heaney is one of those guys have never understood what the splash was all about. he was hyped up as a prospect with the marlins, but remember when saw him on milb games.. nothing special I ever saw from him and was never, ever more than a back end guy with the Angels, yet he continued getting that hype. remember Eovaldi getting same kind of treatment when he 1st came up with the LAD, only he threw triple digits.

Pass on giving heaney close to 10m. Throwing away that much hoping Richards can learn to use a baseball not loaded up with stick-um would have a better chance of success and cost a lot less than 10maav.

Liked Paxton from his days with the M's and am by no means dissatisfied with him picking up the 4m option, but look at his camp's view of the pickup.. his agent is Boras.. Picking up the (low) 4m option amount could have probably been equaled on the open market, even if had to wait long and deep into the offseason to get it. maybe even surpassed. perhaps there are still issues with his arm.. maybe even further surgeries down the line is why boras allowed him to take "just" 4m right now.

Don't remember him either. Think another pretty much unknown may have held it for years.. Short kid name of Mike Ciampa (was pronounced champa). Guy was barely 5', an OF late 70's in the Sox system. Used to tease him and call him "shorty" all the time. 1 day was on him pretty good and told him he couldn't put anything over the RF wall at Chain-o-Lakes stadium, which wasn't any short poke as it was. He hit one over the scoreboard during that very game and looked at me, at my normal seat while heading around the bases. Not sure who was happiest.

Think it may have been his only professional homer tho. Nice kid tho, but mostly speed as an asset.

Look.. Saying you scouted kids way back and were always right about them is just preposterous. nobody is, nor was. You, or that particular scout/superfan would be the highest ranking guy in the organization for going around the country and going over both amateur and young, professional talent, it's just impossible to be correct more than say a quarter of the time in the best of cases when most top kids are seen, unless that guy is say a Kirk Gibson, Jim Rice, Alan Trammel type with unlimited potential.

I also kind of did what u describe at both Sox and Lakeland Tigers complex for many years. Sox Geniuses Joe Morgan and Rac Slider taught me and were very patient. I also was involved in some of that so called "partying" with several players in younger years, one is now a not to be named coach in the sox system now.

Point is.. Don't just point out incorrectly am sure how hit upon every guy as a win.. That's impossible, I know it.. Don't also say u knew every guy would never make it, yet did.. (Dave Stapleton). Watching and scouting kids is hit and miss. nobody is going to have close to a 100% track record.

Old Winter Haven Red Sox (HaSox) had a souvanier stand, but almost everything had the "B" logo, or Boston like jerseys in the 70's. i finally asked Rac 1 time for a hat and he must have taken 1 from the players equipment and gave it to like.. 75? 6?. The players had "WH" on caps and later on, Winter Haven on road jerseys if remember correct.

Guess when a team averaged around 150 fans on any given night wasn't much of a reason to offer team specific gear, but was proud of that hat.
