Highly doubt it. More likely Porcello.

Farrell says Cespedes will play CF or RF. I still think he gets traded but what if we keep him and Napoli? Castillo 8 Pedroia 4 Ortiz DH Ramirez 7 Sandoval 5 Cespedes 9 Napoli 3 Bogaerts 6 Vasquez 2 Would be a nasty Lineup.

On MLB radio today they mentioned the Mets need middle I/Fs and the Mariners and rangers want an OF and have a SS to spare.

I'd put money on Napoli having a better season than Cespedes. I don't know I think it'd be close. If either one were in the Red Sox line up with Ramirez hitting 3rd Ortiz 4th and Sandoval 5th followed by Cespedes or Napoli I would project. 2015 Cespedes NapoliAVG 260 255 RUNS 89 80 HR 24 26 RBI 100 75 SB 7 1 I think the rbi's for Napoli is too high. His hitting with RISP last season was really weak and even though he got his finger and jaw fixed this offseason, I don't think we will see an improvement with RISP next season. Instead I just see the "K"'s continuing to rise,

“@dan_Lifshatz: According to sources Red Sox asked for Tyson Ross or Andrew Cashner and either Casey Kelly or Max Fried in a deal for Yoenis Cespedes” Like the Astros asked Xander for Bud Norris. That's not gonna happen.

“@dan_Lifshatz: According to sources Red Sox asked for Tyson Ross or Andrew Cashner and either Casey Kelly or Max Fried in a deal for Yoenis Cespedes” This might work if we sweeten the deal with a prospect or two, I would add ranaudo and Mercedes along with cespedes for Tyson and quackenbush.

His hitting with RISP last season was really weak and even though he got his finger and jaw fixed this offseason, I don't think we will see an improvement with RISP next season. Instead I just see the "K"'s continuing to rise, It has been his entire career. It's why I was against signing him to be a #4 or #5 batter to begin with. In 2013 (his best year) he hit 23 HRs in 498 ABs accounting for 43 of his 92 RBIs. In his other 475 ABs he had only 49 RBIs and left more RISP then any other player in MLB ( But won the World Series and that's AWSOME ). Last year he hit 17 HRs in 415 ABS accounting for 24 of his 55 RBIs. In the other 398 ABs he had only 31 RBIs. I don't think he is suited to be a 3 4 5 hitter I think his power and on base % is better in the 6th or 7th hole. So you might be right about my estimation of how many RBIs he might have hitting 6th behind Ramirez, Ortiz, Sandoval but I was also basing it on him getting closer to 525 ABs.

I laph at the speculation of a Kennedy for Cespedes swap. Kennedy doesnt fit this division well never mind the ballpark hed pitch in 16 times a year. He has benefited greatly with his move to Petco. He is a NL starter and good one but more of a #3 at best. Tyson Ross or Andrew Chasner are the price. I doubt they get Kelly or Fried as well unless they offer uo something else of value. But Fried had TJ couple months ago and wont pitch to 16 and Kelly we no just came back. So they are asking for guys with upside but coming off serious injuries.

Love the idea of getting Ross or Cashner for Cespedes. Like T Walker idea more. Latos or Cueto top the list of possibilities along with Wheeler and Walker. Ross or Cashner are nice consolation prizes.
Id be surprised if he is moved before the winter meetings I expect him to go at the Meetings.

I think he should hit in front of Papi because he gets on base more than just about anyone. No one should give a damn about RBIs. We should only give a damn about how many runs the team scores and you can't score much without base runners.

this was posted in another chat but could back up jake and dan the angry phone caller's report. Buster Olney @buster_ESPN 8h, "Based on the conversations the Red Sox have had so far, evaluators believe they are going to get a good pitcher for Yoenis Cespedes."

Cespedes's situation should play out til the winter meetings.(as a poster already stated) This should turn into a bidding war. The Lester deal is looking better and better everyday. Especially if we re sign Lester(which I believe we do) If we can get a deal for Latos, Cashner/Ross, or Zimmerman for Cespedes we are doing good. I think out of all of them I'd prefer it be Latos.

I'd rather have Ross/Wheeler/Cashner than any of the other pitchers that are being speculated. Getting a pitcher for one year means that the Red Sox will have the same problem the next offseason. The only way that is not true is if you think that of the young arms will step up to be a solid #2 as close as 2016, which is not how I see the situation.

Well we have 86m locked up for next season. they could make a big run at a big run at a top pitcher next year.

This was on MLB Trade Rumors..."The Mariners would be hard-pressed to deal starting pitching given their lack of rotation depth, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times writes, and thus a rumored Hisashi Iwakuma-for-Yoenis Cespedes deal doesn’t make much sense for the team".
