Henry's last 6: 41.2IP 5R/ER 2HRA 25H 10BB 38K 1.080ERA 0.84WHIP I am way more excited about Owens this year than just about anyone else other than Mookie. While his strike outs have gone down a little, they have pretty much all become ground balls and his walks have gone down as well. Perfect. His line drive % is absurdly low at 11.3% following up last season at 9.4%. His OF FB% is only 27.7%. This is a pretty damn dominant minor league pitcher. I'm not far from naming him Lester's replacement. I actually think he could be even more given his age and his already advanced approach. Obviously to achieve that he'll likely have to add a fourth pitch I guess... Gesendet von meinem iPhone mit Tapatalk

I've never really understood why everyone seemed to be so sceptical about him. He was really dominant last year from midsummer going forward.

José Fernández comes to mind as well... Don't know how high he was ranked before 2013...

Hi, I'm a new forum member, but am reading here for years.
Just wanted to say that Eric already wrote about the comparison to Bowden, so it's a bit unfair to say he didn't have an answer to him being even more successful in double-a.
I have to say - following the debate for a while now - I find his arguments very convincing. Being from Germany and never having played baseball myself I am by no means an expert. Bit I very we'll remember pitchers like Pedro, Maddux and others being dominant pitchers - better than a 3 - even without overpowering fastballs. The counter argument here is those have had amazing control. Now the debate about Owens is about his ceiling and not his floor. I imagine to reach his ceiling we all suppose he'll only be able to do that if he will continue to show his improved control and even better that. So the whole argument comes down - if I understand it correctly - to the question if he can be better than a 3 without an overpowering fastball and the pitches/stuff he is showing right now. And viewing the aforementioned Pitchers that can't really be debatable to my understanding. The whole argument about deception not even included.
I never really understood in general why there is a floor and a ceiling ranking when we are such careful even about the best circumstance scenarios (ceiling)
