Watching the stats of guys like Santana, Gallo etc.: Isn't the most important question, what obp Dalbec can add to his Power? If he gets to .330 and maintains his Power, he'd be a valuable Player, wouldn't he? Does the k-rate give us information aboutw his obp?

Hey guys, someone in the comment section over at overthemonster.com wrote that Dalbec doesn't swing and miss that often but by far leads anybody with Ks looking. Is that true and If so: is that a good or a bad sign for his developement?

I watched that thing like 10 times in a row lol As I said before, when Xander is your least talented core player you're in pretty good spot. That's fantastic! Hahahahahahaha

I think Mazz might be on to something. I wouldn't be so quick to run Hanley out of town. He carried this team in the 2nd half last yr. I like the idea of DL ing him to try to get his swing right though. Is he unaware the Sox core player are younger than the Yankees' ? No, he was and is just a pretty stupid guy who gets exited when he can bash anything.

This is the kind of outing we all hoped to get from Henry Owens on a more consistent basis. To many baserunners, don't you think? I've always been a big hank supporter but that won't be enough. Still, a bit of an improvement.

He'll probably walk more, for one. Add 50 points of OBP and he looks a lot like a poor man's Mike Trout. My question would be: does that mean fewer extra bas hits? Less slugging maybe?

This is one of the rare cases where being to optimistic instead of being to pessimistic has led to the charge of someone being a troll.
While I think dj is unreasonable myself and could get by well without some of his posts, especially after there were well argumented counter arguments made, I think to call him a troll is a little bit to much. As is the demand for a new post about Kopech. The whole community (at least those who've been arguing here, greats such as jimed) could have done a better job. Let the guy be passionate. I for one am looking forward to his development. There's no denying he has huge potential (and so far not the best makeup) Let's see what he makes of it.

You keep getting better and better. Your website is reason alone to be a fan of the red sox, since following the prospects is such a joy. Keep up the great work!

Would we have made this trade if not for it being Papis last year?
I was really dreaming on Espi...

Btw, what's everyone thinking about J Basabe? He doesn't have the hype of his brother (or the power), but man, his triple slash looks awful good for a 19-y/o in low A. Gets on base a ton, has at least *some* XB pop, and steals bases. He could finish the year at .300/.400/.450 (he's been very, very consistent), with 30 steals, 30 2b, 10 HR, and more than a handful of triples. Yeah I have been watching him too....and pleasantly surprised by his performance. At the start of the year it seemed that he was regarded something akin to Xander's brother...an afterthought. He has really moved up the prospect list. One thing exciting about following the farm is that each year people seem to rise from out of the mist. A couple of others, of course, are Washington and Ockimey. Although Ock seems to be struggling at the moment... Does anybody's have been able to get an actual scouting report of him?

I'd be interested in the vs. L/vs. R splits as well. .971 OPS vs RHP .797 vs LHP If I remember it right, that's progress he made in that regard, isn't it?

Moncada's June in Salem was pretty insane. .345 BA, .438 OBP, 53% FB+LD, .273 ISO, 14% BB%, 16% K% Do you know how his exit velocities have been? I'd be interested in the vs. L/vs. R splits as well.

The dreamy rotation possibilities is almost to much to contemplate with Espinoza, Groome and don't forget Kopech if all 3 worked out. Something like the Verlander/Scherzer and Sanchez trio Detroit ran out every 3 days in 2013. Or Thor, DeGrom and Matz (+Harvey) in NY right now. If raudes can continue to outperform expectations, this might come true. With the difference that we should have a way better offense!

I agree that if Boston is able to offer a $4m bonus, it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for him to decline that offer. But (a) be prepared for a lot of posturing (especially from his agent) right up until the point he signs (if he does sign) and (b) draftees (and MLB players, for that matter) have been known to make sub-optimal decisions out of anger/resentment (if they feel they've been insulted/mistreated) or irrational confidence before, and there is real risk here. But isn't there the hope that it's not really the red sox, who mistreated him, but the teams which didn't pick him before? He has to see the red sox need at least some of their money to sign other picks.

That's absolutely a fair point Jmei, but I think what others of us are saying is that we'd rather spend said trade capital on a young pitcher with upside who is just as likely to continue to improve this year as the Rich Hill's of the world are to stay healthy and be effective. In a more general "acquisition" sense, speaking just for myself here, I've been consistent in saying from the winter that I think anyone who expected Clay Buchholz to be good this season (based off his prior 5 years of track record) was mistaken and since he was acquired, I've thought Joe Kelly was a mistake and a guy who couldn't pitch in the AL East. David Price is / will be fine. Rick Porcello is pitching the way he has most of his career, which is fine as your third starter. Steven Wright has been an absolute Godsend (and pitching like a one) but I think most of us expect at the end of the year he'll have something around a 4.00ERA (call that a 3/4). I love Eduardo Rodriguez, and certainly want him in the rotation and on the team, but he is a 5. Clay Buchholz will continue to be terrible this year (like he was in 2012 and 2014), Joe Kelly is awful and Henry Owens has no control (even in AAA). If someone wants this team to be a World Series contender (this year, or for the next couple) we need to acquire a true number 2 starter via trade or have Eduardo Rodriguez become that. If we can't acquire that this trade deadline, then I think the right move is to go after another pitcher you can depend on to give you more than the less than 1/3 of a chance to stay in a game that Buccholz and Kelly have given the team this year. *That "less than 1/3" number comes from looking at game logs this year between Kelly and Buchholz. They have given the team what I think most fans of the Red Sox would consider a reasonable chance to win based on this offense in 5 of their 16 starts. They need another pitcher who can be reasonably expected in 2016 to not suck. We really don't have another pitcher in the organization who should be expcted to provide that this season. I don't get why you think that the status quo will be what will happen for the whole season (with the exception of Wright, were you project regression, although no argument for that was given either). More likely is a scenario in which Rodriguez will improve, Owens gets to the shape he played last season and even buch will be a bit more lucky.

Question to our scouts: This Taylor guy so far had more success than failure and was draftet just one year ago. Could he be someone we should be focusing on a bit more?

I'm pretty disinterested in interleague play also. I'm especially disinterested in staying up until after 1 am on a school night. I don't know how my Dodgers fan buddy does it every night. Following the Redsox from Germany I have to stay up that long (and most often do) just for the Redsox to start playing

David Ortiz is putting up video game numbers this season. Has there ever been a player who has his best season, during his final season in the league? I guess more than we think. But I doubt they have 500+ HRs. Or even 50+ To add this to his already unbelievable career is what makes this even more special.
