eh...can someone explain how this is a violation? I believe the batter walked away before time out was granted.

He's suddenly up to .250/.325/.375 for a .700 OPS. I will have to say I am amazed at how easy the scoring is today. That would have always been scored an error. I'll grant the long run but that could have been a basket catch.

Anyone like me checking to see Abreu’s updated wRC+ (which is now up to 106)? I think he’ll be alright. I’m hoping Yoshida can turn things around enough for the Sox to salary dump him at some point. I think Abreu, Anthony, Duran and Rafaela make a fine 3OF and DH rotation and I just don’t see Masa being an important part of the future. And this is ignoring O’Neill, who certainly seems to be finding his place and might not want to leave a coaching staff who believes in him and helps him. It’s a good logjam and Yoshida is by far the easiest to move on from. If O'Neil has a good year and stays healthy, I give it about a zero chance the Sox sign him long term.

Ceddanne's SS defense has so far been even worse than advertised, and it was advertised as well behind his CF defense. This team just has too many studly outfielders and no SS. Since you are into small sample sizes, consider his HR/AB as a SS.

Bello lowered his ERA to 3.04. I'm guessing a lot of people had Bello as the starter ERA outlier.
Still too many pitches.

I'm very interested to see how this works out. A lefty that throws upper 90's and throws a lot of strikes with his secondaries should be gold.

2) Tanner Houck tossed one of the best games of the season, as he recorded a CGSO allowing just 3 hits
His slider was solid last season and is now more of a sweeper, complete with a great 40.3 Whiff%
2023 vs 2024: SL -2.4" ➡️ -0.2" iVB -11.0" ➡️ -15.9" HB 105 ➡️ 112 tjStuff+

The real question is what had they been doing wrong. Bannister and Bloom were really smart guys so as much as I’d like to hype our new pitching gurus, I’m genuinely curious as to what went wrong or what the jump was that we couldn’t get over. Hitting is so much simpler and therefore easier for me to wrap my little head around. I don't think they'd been doing anything wrong! Crawford and Pivetta took big steps forward last season. Houck and Whitlock have had injury/stamina problems but they both had track records of being good. Bello developed on the last guys' watch. Maybe Breslow and Bailey were able to ratchet these guys up another level, but the trend precedes them. Experience...

What I said in the Rafaela extension thread extensions I want to see. (And I forgot about Duran)
1. Houck (Ace potential slider). 2. Crawford. (Always been solid, more very good games than bad, adjusts well). 3. Wong. (Underrated and it take two catchers). 4. Abreu. (Solid two way player with a Dewey like arm and great pitch selection. Enough range to play anywhere in the outfield). 5. Winckowski. (Seems like a good candidate for a Whitlock style extension). 6. Maybe Grissom, time will tell but we should know this year.

Bedtime but some first Salem game watched thoughts....
Wehunt was solid until the wheels disintegrated.
Bleis chased a few high fastballs but turned well on some offspeed.
Taylor made a few nice plays in left.
Hillcat bats were significantly more impressive than Sox bats. Velazquez is going to be a monster.

Unless I'm hearing it wrong, announcer is saying jos-TIN-son.
ADD: I'm also not so sure that in Spanish pronunciation that Jh makes the y sound.

We need to let Bobby continue to pursue Chris Davis' record of 54 ABs. Let him get to 55 so that he has something to tell his grandchildren.

I told my company I wasn't going to show up to work until Dalbec gets a hit. I've been unemployed for 2 weeks Congratulations on your retirement! It could have been worse, he could have decided to do that last September.

It's going to be so disappointing when he makes it to the majors and his nickname is just Wikky. This made me think of Wikelpedia, which I personally find amusing I always think of this song.

If the Angel's broadcasters are right, Dalbec now 0 for his last 31.
Cora needs to move him to 3rd or 4th in the order.
