Man, I just don't see it ever happening with Jeter Downs. Obviously insanely small sample size but 6Ks in 8ABs to start the spring. Even in the AFL last year where everyone was singing his praises he was still only able to hit .200 with a 34% K rate after a terrible season in Worcester. With Story signed long-term, Xander hopefully returning, and Yorke/Mayer in the pipeline I hope he get have a hot start in AAA so Bloom can package him for a position of greater need.

The thought of dalbec at 2nd is both intriguing and disgusting at the same time. For real. A 6'4" 230lb 2B who had a bad defensive rating at 1B last year. What could possibly go wrong?

Rosenthal reporting on Twitter that the Phillies are now closing in on Schwarber. What a pathetically frustrating offseason this has been so far for Redsox fans.

The Rule 5 draft is canceled, which I'm kind of glad about. Great news! I felt for sure Feltman, German, and Santos would be gone with a good possibility for Gimenez, although not sure he could stick the whole year.

I may have missed this earlier but is there an ETA on when Binelas/Hamilton will slot into the rankings? Will they just be included in the spring update, under the assumption there is spring training (large assumption, I know)?

Downs just turned 23. There will be other, potentially better opportunities to sell high, especially given our lack of cap room. Yeah just have to hope he can recoup some value by the end of the year and get it together over the offseason. He is completely lost at the plate right now, batting .115/.198/.184 in 87 at-bats since 7/1 with a 36% K rate and only 4 xbh in that 25 game span. Not going to get anything for a player like that.

This is all Fabian’s fault…

Extremely small nit but is it possible to add the green and blue highlights to the players listed in the 2020 draft history? I find that feature very helpful! Isn't it that they drafted four players and signed them all? What information are you looking for? It was more directed towards the UDFA's and whether they are still in the system. The highlights make it a lot easier than scanning through the roster page. Super minor detail but was just curious.

My guy Graceffo off the board Watched him pitch on 6/26 for Bourne. Thought he looked really impressive.

So...are we just gonna pass on those pitcher things? Such a plethora of position players. Bloom will ultimately have to trade some of that depth that develops and turn it into arms. Not the worst strategy imo.

Fangraphs grades Fabian as the first 40+ prospect in the draft. I would imagine he's going to land right around the 8-12 rankings range for the Sox. Super excited for these additions to the organization!

I may have missed this in another thread. Will Valdez, Gambrell, and De La Rosa be added to the rankings as part of the 7/1 update or will they be slotted in somewhere prior to that? Thanks!

That is a pretty intimidating pitching line for deGrom, 50k:3bb, but he does have a loss so he isn't invincible. Sox have done well with the aces this year so I hope it continues. Some of the K/BB numbers we're seeing from starting pitchers to start this season are mind boggling. Cole/DeGrom both 50:3, Bauer- 45:6. Corbin Burnes is at 49:0 which is a record to start a season and only 7K's behind Curt Schilling for longest streak ever without a walk!

Can someone explain to me what the deal is with Darwinzon Hernández? I looked at his BB rate on fangraphs and it looks ugly to me. I’m not super familiar with him. Filthy stuff but just has no idea where it's going when it leaves his hand. The dreams of him being a starting MLB pitcher are long gone I think he needs to get his BB/9 below 5.00 to have any sort of consistent long-term success as a reliever.

Andrelton Simmons tested positive for COVID and has been placed on the IL. Let’s hope it’s isolated and doesn’t spread to either team.

Dead arm refers to a labrum injury that prevents full extension of the arm in the throwing position. If there is any significant tear, then rest is frequently not curative. This is not just a tired arm. It is an injured shoulder, and it is a cause for concern, especially if ERod is not able to return after missing just a week or so. Jumping from "dead arm" to a labrum injury is a pretty presumptuous leap without any additional information. Most of the time dead arm is just a fancy term for fatigue and that happens to tons of pitchers during spring training. Your muscles aren't quite in the peak condition they'd generally be in during the season so you don't bounce back in between starts as easily. A little extra rest and conditioning takes care of this issue for most.

When would be the earliest we would reasonably expect that the Sox select the NYM and KC pieces from their pool of options? June?

13 Rays in Longenhagen's top 133 (5 in the top 25!). Absolutely insane how stacked that system is. Yankees second with 8 and Indians with 7.

One question, if season is canceled now, will the CBT of Sox be reset? No. I believe it was mentioned in another thread but the Sox need the season to get past 8/31 in order for the CBT to reset. Not off to a great start on that front
