Could Zimmer fall to the Red Sox? If so, do you think they pick him@ #26?

Seriously... how much prep do you think Reynolds puts into this? 45 minutes? An hour? He is reading all this stuff from the telepromter...I'd say the 30 minutes right before they went on the air.

Callis should be up there over the likes of HR, Mayo and Daniels. He is the baseball equivalent of Kiper without the 50s haircut and self righteous attitude.

Jonathan Mayo trying to take credit for the Medeiros pick on his "final, unpublished, mock" was hiliarious. Nice try. Haha the MLB moderator just called Mayo out on his "picks."

I am hoping some teams pick Fisher, Reed and Blandino before the #26 pick.

That would be some serious helium for Travis who is ranked #56 overall by BA. I thought Travis would be more in play possibly at #36. Seems to be a huge reach #26 based on BA rankings.

Harrison is the guy that I want at #26...rumors about a bad workout don't phase me... for all we know, that could be a smoke screen put up by teams drafting lower in the hope that he slips (e.g. Braves, Rangers).

The Red Sox had draft bonus pool money on the table that they could not spend last year. I suspect that they might alter their drafting strategy a little to draft some of the tough signs a little earlier and then play them off against each other to see which of them are willing to delay their college education for the pursuit of a professional baseball career.

Chris Crawford changed his mock from Wilson at #33, to Vallot at #33. And from Fedde to Fisher at 26 I would rather they pick Reed over Fisher if they were determined to take a college hitter. Reed has produced and he can field his position, whereas Fisher has not produced and there are lots of questions about his ability to catch and throw at any OF position.

I really don't see the point in drafting Blandino. With Fisher you're still betting on upside, almost like a HS pick in that sense, but Blandino has been pegged as a utility infielder even before being drafted. I agree on Blandino who sounds like a Mike Gallego-like player. However, if Fisher hasn't put it together as a college player with lots of questions about his lack of power and defensive limitations, I think it is risky projecting upside on him. He seems more like a Ryan Sweeney-type player with much less defensive skills.

Would people be ok with Derek Fisher? No based on questions about his power (no HRs in Cape last summer), defensive liability (poor route running and below average arm) as well as questions from scouts about his level of effort. I would rather see the Red Sox take a chance on Greenwood, Harrison, and/or Hill who have much higher ceilings and lots of positive comments about their leadership, attitudes, drive to succeed, etc.

Some of the basketball and football video on Harrison is astonishing... Agree... check out these basketball hightlights...the slam after missing the free throw is insane... he has to be the best athlete in the 2014 draft. www.hudl.com/athlete/450737/highlights/140754375

Reviewing the BA draft issue, here are some interesting thoughts of some possible Red Sox targets in the first couple of rounds...
Fedde (RHP)-pitched in Cape Cod League and Team USA last summer... FB up to 94, slender 6"4" 175 lbs... added strength getting up to 97, although sitting 90-93... good command with FB and slider... some concerns about durability...could land in the top 10-15 picks
Griffin(LHP)...6'3" 210 lbs...physical comparision to Cole Hamels.. FB 88-92, advanced change up... average CB, throws strikes with good FB command
Reed (1b)... Lead nation in HRs and slugging...lost 15 lbs over the past year... 8-2, 2.20 era as a pitcher... some scouts knock his bat speed, patient with easy swing which can get long
Blandino (3b)... hit .310 with 5 HRs over last two Cape summers... career .282 hitter at Stanford...good bat speed quick wrists... at times will overswing for power... projects fringe to average power as a result projects more at 2nd..average defender...may be athletic enough to be a utility infielder... laid back demeanor
Greenwood (ss) 70 grade power... made some mechanical adjustments this spring to quiet hitch...may be a average to below average hitter, but has special hands, looseness, bat speed and leverage...likely will move to a corner IF spot or possibly RF with a plus arm
Harrison (OF)... best athlete in draft... 6'2" 201 lbs... Nebraska FB recruit... no question about bat speed or passion for the game... very good speed and power arm... shows above-average power in BP... all-star caliber makeup with leadership qualities...
Hill (OF)... son of Dodger area scout....above-average speed with strong defensive instincts... quick stroke and strong command of the strike zone...projects for more power as he ages.... rarely swings and misses... 6' 185 lb... room to get a lot stronger
Fisher (OF)... 6'3".. profiles as a LF due to poor route running and below average arm .. doesn't always play hard...scouts give him a 70 raw power, although it has not translated much in games... hit .333 in Cape league with 6 doubles last summer
Wilson (OF)... classic high risk, high reward prospect... plus speed 6'3" wiry frame which could translate to average power as he fills out...long arms give him extention to drive balls into the gaps...needs to improve plate discipline and establish a consistent stride..

Zim was a stand up guy. The clips of him apologizing after going after Pedro in the playoff game were genuine. Sad day for baseball.

I also agree that Fedde would be good choice at 26, although I hope that if Gatewood or Harrison are available that the Red Sox pick one of them and then go for pitching with the #33 pick. I would throw something if the Red Sox pick Reed with either the #26 or #33 pick.

Domonic Brown is the second worst qualified player in baseball this year and has had one above-replacement-level season in his four-year career (and has been below-replacement-level overall). He is an awful defensive outfielder, and while his BABIP is probably going to regress positively, he has a career .271 BABIP in 1200+ PAs and is likely a true-talent low-BABIP hitter because of his lack of speed, high pop fly rate, and pull-heavy batted ball profile. Yeah, he was once a highly-regarded prospect, but that was four years ago and even his alleged breakout season last year didn't make him a league-average player because of his terrible defense. He's the exact kind of player this Red Sox team doesn't need-- they need stable production, not a high-risk buy-low candidate who has upside but probably sucks. We already have a couple of those in Sizemore and Bradley. Thanks JMEI. You have helped convince me that Brown is the guy for me to drop off my fantasy team once Polanco is finally promoted by the Pirates.

Dominic Brown might be a good buy low candidate, with a .235 BABIP, change of scenary, etc.

This epic wasteland, otherwise known as the Red Sox OF, needs to be addressed in short order. They are getting zero production from any of these guys. This division and wildcard is there for the taking, but not if they continue to put up lineups with OFs who couldn't even start for the Astros, Cubs, etc. There is no reason to wait until the July 31 deadline to address these gaping holes in the Red Sox OF as they may be too far out to make a comeback at that point.

Neither Herrera nor Hassan should be on the 40 man, never mind wearing that uniform. Herrera can pound sand, I'm happy for Hassan though, it's cliche for sure, but a local kid living the dream for a couple weeks is more than fine by me, especially getting that base hit at Fenway the other night. But yeah I do not like Jonathan Herrera (aka Julio Lugo Lite) Hassan is a nice story, however he is not someone you expect to provide league average production as a 4 the or 5 th OF. This team needs Victorino to get healthy and another OF who can hit. Not sure that they wait until Mookie is ready for another promotion in another 5 or 6 weeks.
