Drellich: Source says Red Sox 90-10 in their pursuit of J.D. Martinez vs. other(s). Makes sense: he’s the best free agent bat available in terms of production, no qualifying offer.
Get it done!

It's a little frustrating to see everybody helping the Yanks. (Yeah I am being a little irrational; that's what the Yankees do to a guy.)

So in that scenario Mookie plays center, I'd assume Benny stays at LF and who plays RF? Or do you put Benny at RF and Schwarber at LF and Schwarber being a legendarily terrible defender? This doesn't make too much sense. Unless there's already a deal in place for JDM. JD isn't especially good in the outfield either (pretty awful actually) so that doesn't make it any better.

Bob Nightengale @bnightengale The Boston #RedSox have let several teams know that CF Jackie Bradley is available in their pursuit of a power bat. #Cubs If they trade JBJ for Schwarber I will have to re-evaluate my life

I just don’t want to hear Mazz or some other person on radio saying why didn’t the Sox go after him. He was gift wrapped to the MFY. What a joke of a package going back. Judge is still not proven. He didn't want to come here in the first place. But people will just run with the narratives.

As long as we get JD all is well.

I'd love to see him end up in San Diego.

Sox are out too. I didn't think we were ever really in on him, though.

Mazz would probably trade Mookie Betts for Abreu. And I'm not being hyperbolic. He has no grasp of how the industry of baseball values baseball players in real life in 2017. For weeks, they were going on about how they'd be all over Benintendi/Devers plus prospects for Stanton (full contract). They need homahs, Mike!

I don't understand people who say Xander "isn't that good" but at the same time think we'll get a haul for him

I would actually consider buying that Rockies hat, and I kinda hate the Rockies.

I like Abreu a lot but I don't know what we'd have to give up from an already depleted treasure chest. Just keep it simple and go after JD if we're gonna go big.

I wonder if the market is just waiting on Otani. This has been the quietest November I can remember.

I get more worried about Hanley's health than his glove when he plays first base.

Hosmer seems like a classic "big name" hitter that gets way more credit than his production actually deserves. If he's a middle of the order bat then our offense is probably going to be even worse

I see Dustin back on June 1 at the latest provided everything goes well. It will be interesting to see what Nunez wants because you aren't getting him for his D @2b and if team improves in other areas with the bat, do you really need him? Esp at big money. So I like him, like to have him, but at 3/45 I don't think so. My guess is they roll with a combination of Holt/Lin/Marrero, unless they think Holt is broken. Btw, does anyone know if Marco Hernandez is projected to be ready to go in the spring? Could be a valuable depth wild card here, if so. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to starting Marco near full-time until Pedey gets back.

Raf's homer off Chapman will probably stick out the most when I look back on this season as an old man. I was hysterically laughing with joy and probably looked like a crazy person.

I like the Santana idea a lot. Stay far away from a Stanton deal.
There really isn't a lot about the team that I would really change. Devers is a massive upgrade at 3B, Benny could explode offensively, a healthy X will rebound, Mook will probably put up another 5+ win year. 1B and DH bats are what's most important, I think. Hanley is probably going to be here, like it or not. I love him as a personality and clubhouse presence, less so as a hitter but I don't hate keeping him to DH as long as we get an offensive upgrade at first base. I'd also really try to get Núñez to come back so we have a Pedey buffer. Dustin needs to be given more rest.
