I think it’s important to build on a winning season and hopefully make a push. The young guys could learn from a playoff chase. I wouldn’t empty the farm but find a back end in starter and I personally would rather have Duvall in RF going forward. If you could turn Verdugo into Edmond I’d do that. Story coming back to SS and a good 2B would be a big improvement for us in my opinion.

Cora was on mlb radio today and made it sound like we were close on a deal or two. Hopefully some news drops soon.

Chad Jennings wrote in “The Athletic” today that the team (as has been previously indicated) is looking for starters with years of control - the nugget I found interesting was he referenced players that may have options remaining. Wondering if they’re looking for a 2020 Pivetta-type trade - a talented controllable pitcher whose stock is down from inconsistency or a team giving up on them. Curious if Brady Singer falls into this category. He’s had some decent years but his savant page looks bad now. Lower FIP than ERA.

I’d like Montgomery for the stretch run and try to resign him. Durable with AL east experience.

Tommy Edmond is a guy who could play 2B and fill in the OF as needed. Under contract for two more years whenever Mayer is ready he could fill the utility role.

As far as LAA goes I would not be surprised if this is their last go around and Trout gets traded in the offseason. Bad farm and Ohtani probably leaves I just think a reset is in order.

Selling on the roster makes me think Verdugo. He’d be about the only one with value since I don’t think we’d deal Houck or Whitlock bc those seem like the type we’re going after. Maybe Duval in RF? I personally think a 2B for this year and next is more important than a back end starter. If the Sale/Houck/Whitlock trio doesn’t come back to at least pitch in a relief role we probably don’t get to the third WC anyway. Drury seems perfect but I doubt they sell.

Two interesting arms seems like a win.

Drury makes a lot more sense than India. I agree. He has an option for next year as well. I don’t think India would be worth it with Mayer hopefully being ready by opening day 2025. As for the post about Verdugo for an arm I wouldn’t be opposed if we can get someone for 2-3 years. I think you could platoon Refsynder with a Kepler or Gallo type for cheaper and get similar production.

I don’t think we can go into next season with Sale and Paxton as 2/5s of the rotation. I’d QO him, go after a reliable guy like Montgomery and hope to get into the ballgame with Yamamoto.

Schedule makers didn’t do us any favors. Leave Oakland for 5 at home then back to the Bay for SF then the mariners. I’m I the only one who thinks we need to sell high on Verdugo? Pretty bad platoon splits on top of his road numbers.

I’m hopeful Story’s arm is fine after the surgery and some of the better defensive SS don’t exactly have rockets over there (Swanson). Let him have the next year and a half or so and sign a Merrifield type or trade for a stop gap 2B. Agree that with the depth in the lower levels at 2B and the fact Story could move back (assuming he even goes back to Ss) makes Yorke a guy that is more expendable. I would want want to trade him for a rental though.

Don’t want Bieber he will cost a lot and he has been trending the wrong way with some red flags popping up I’d be nervous as well. A little decline, would cost top prospects and might put us over the cap. Someone like Brady Singer has a similar FIP, longer control and probably not the prospects. He’s had some clunkers but I wonder if there’s a fix in him somewhere.

Braylon Wimmer is a potential senior sign. He’s got good size and athletic enough to be brought up as a utility guy having played in the IF and OF a little.

Nobody would be complaining if McLain led to James woods. Regardless of R1 we should wait until the top 10 are finished before we freak out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you HAVE to offer a player at least 70% of slot? or is it just that the offer has to at least be 70% of slot value to retain a pick in next years draft if the player does not sign? I believe you are correct if they attended and took physicals at the pre draft camp.

I was off of Bradfield Jr but catching up on Doyle’s pod he’s pretty high on him. He mentioned a potential comp of Ellsbury if the power comes but right now has elite approach, speed and field. Good safe bet of a regular especially if he will cut a deal like fangraphs suggested we are looking at.

I do think we might see them try and shed some payroll this offseason but I would be shocked if it’s Tatis. Right now on baseball trade values a Duran for Kim and Musgrave is pretty similar and that would save them over $25M with a top middle infield prospect coming up. They just had an issue too with their broadcast contract and Bally sports I believe.

If I’m Texas I’d be hesitant to deal upper minors starters for Paxton since they have Perez a FA and Degrom is out for at least most of next season. Would Rocker out with TJ plus a higher 2nd piece be enough? They are set in the infield and Thomas Saggese looks good in AA.

I wonder what Duran could bring back if he’s made available? I’m guessing there’s a few contending teams in need of a CF and if Bloom and company isn’t sold on his improvements with Rafaela waiting in the wings it could be a good sell high option. Baseball trade values has him at 30.4 which could bring back a few good pieces.

Finishing up Jason Churchill and Joe Doyle’s FSS pod and theyre saying Joe Whitman can sneak in as high as the top 10 and a team spread out his money. Also they said Thomas White might be the hardest sign in the draft.

It would depend on the return for me. I like Verdugo but he’s been up and down I’d prefer to let his contract play out before giving him a market contract right now. There’s the guy from Japan who could slide into RF and I don’t know how a Duval/Refsynder combo would be. Wouldn’t be a ton of options for sure.

It seems like everyone’s mocks link us to either Houck or Miller. I think if I was forced to predict our pick one month out it would have to be one of those two.
