I'd be fine with Montgomery/Giolito and a trade for a RHH second baseman (Polanco/Kim/Drury type). But I'm not getting my hopes up. I could even get behind an Imanaga and Giolito combo. Anxious to see what Bailey can do to improve things in house as well. I see a lot of posters bring up Gausman and he turned him back around in SF. He had an ERA approaching 6.00 the year before.

I could get behind him as DH while backing up the corners. Houck might work.

I’m coming around to Taylor splitting time in CF with Duran and RF with Abreu. Curious if you all would call that signing paired with Gurriel in LF and a Drury trade a successful offseason for the lineup?

I might be in the minority but that’s a lot to give up for 1 year of Soto. After Ohtani signs pushing the AAV record up I’d be willing to bet his Yankee floor is Judge’s $40 per and running until he’s 39 like Judge. That’s $560M.

I’m fine with it. Probably addition by subtraction here and I can only image with two higher profile issues last season what it was like day to day. To me he was a platoon player with his L/R splits and a sub .700 OPS away from Fenway. We get three interesting arms to hopefully jumpstart our new pitching program in addition to shedding $9M we can spend elsewhere.

Heyman live on BR just said that he thinks it's unlikely either Ohtani or Yamamoto signs at the winter meetings as they both have meetings scheduled after these are over. It might be a slow few days then.

With the number of teams interested, especially big market teams who need pitching, I think he’s getting over $250.

Outside of Burnes, Keller and Cease I don’t see a ton of impact on the trade market either. Seattle is a wild card but if we’re talking Kirby or Gilbert they would probably want a young hitter like Casas. They want to win next year too I don’t think they’d deal those two for prospects only.

Lot of reports today is that Snell wants to go to Seattle. Maybe adding a young arm and clearing Ray off the books could work.

With the Mariners having pitching depth would anyone trade Verdugo for Ray + either Woo or Miller? Ray should be ready by the all star break and has 3 years and 73M left with an opt out after this year. If he shows he healthy in the second half he may opt out of 2 and 50M left.

Polanco on 1/11 with an 11 million club option doesn't seem like it should cost that much. I think the Twins prefer to trade Kyle Farmer who I'd be happy to nab and platoon with Valdez I like Farmer as well and let play Valdez play some. I think Drury would be a perfect upgrade but not sure LAA trades him. Seems like they are looking for some upgrades in the lineup trying to compete.

Being reported he turned down more money to stay in Philly.

Gosh, Soroka’s value is just at the floor right now. Kind of wish the Sox had figured something out knowing that’s the case. Hope for his sake he can stay healthy. I just don’t think a contending team can go into a season with him penciled into the rotation. If he can go to Chicago and prove he’s healthy he could be flipped at the deadline.

From last nights mlb trade rumors chat. live.jotcast.com/chat/mlbtr-live-chat-16971.htmlIcemanchills 7:02 Will the Yankees/Mets be in on Shota Imanaga Mark P 7:03 To some extent, yes. We haven't heard a ton about specific teams in on Imanaga besides Boston, but it can be assumed that several clubs have scouted him and have him on the radar

I wouldn’t call it one of the worst in baseball. He’s been worth 70+ million the last 3 years per fangraphs and is owed roughly $75 million over 5 years. He’s snake bit with injuries I agree.

I wouldn’t hate Buxton with 5 years at $15.1 per left. Also wouldn’t mind kicking the tires on Kyle Farmer for 2B.

Family reasons for a guy that interviewed could also be hey I’m not getting this job so I’m going to bow out and save face.

Cotillo and McAdam made a great point in their podcast that Breslow could still be brought in as GM as his current status with the Cubs is assistant GM. Romero as PBO and Breslow as GM feels like the cleanest option for FSG as they keep their guy but also can get a fresh start in shaping their pitching management with Breslow. Was it those two who speculated that Neal Huntington could be more of a candidate to basically mentor a younger inexperienced GM/CBO? Basically like a Frank Wren from a few years back. They mentioned Bloom didn’t really have that vet.

I like Romero but with our situation and the last place finishes I’d be hesitant to hire from within. It’s like the assistant GMs had all the answers? Just think we need an outside person even as someone who likes Romero.

I take todays news as the Hazens of the world, Gaurdians guy who are in good spots with plenty of leash don’t want to leave. If I see guys like Gomes, Fuld or Click types who aren’t in the big chair saying thanks but no thanks I’d feel different. Maybe 1-2 of those guys who really are comfortable waiting bc they love where they are but I’d be surprised if all the #2s are thinking that. It’s still the Red Sox.

Seems like it’s been about a week and a half since they said they were ready to start the interview process. I’m waiting to hear some sort of rumor of someone being interviewed already.
