I'm with AmFox plan to move enough to get under the luxury tax number. Fact is, like a prior poster said, we don't have a lot to sell. Holts probably worth more to us as a super utility player but maybe a team like KC sees him as their starting 2B for the next few years. Love Koji and he's having a good year but teams will be scared off by the 2016 commitment givien his age. We should move on to developing players like JBJ and Castillo for next year and giving them ABs.

I don't think it's right to compare leadership abilities between Swiahrt and Hannigan. Swihart was thrown to the fire as a 23 year old while Hannigan has 10+ years in him. Most reports have Swiharts makeup off the charts I don't have any doubt he'll get to that level handling a staff.

for some reason is still think guys like Justin Smoak or Jesus Montero could break out. A few weeks back guys at Over The Monster brought up Alonso from SD to although his line looks like Holt he may can hit for more power though. If we go get a top line SP we may need to bargain shop here.

Jesus, just looked it up, Sandoval's been worth negative 0.8 WAR this year My cardinal rule of baseball. I don't like ballplayers fatter than me. And, I ain't exactly svelte. He is looking at the 5th straight year of declining numbers. id look into dumping him before he turns into a 1B/Dh who can't hit.

Just when I thought maybe we buy a cost controlled piece or two Buch goes down. Clouds not only the deadline but the season and off season. I'll hold judgment until the Yankee series is over and the 7 games out west vs LAA and Houston but it's not looking good for the home team.

Kind of what I was thinking. Given the time of year it happened assuming he needs TJ next year is gone.

If it's TJ like we fear would we pick up his option and see how he recovers? I'm sure it's insured.

At this point I'd bring up Johnson and give him two weeks of starts before the deadline to see if he could be that upgrade. Keep Kelly in AAA as close to Johnsons schedule as possible but if Johnson looks like he can be counted on switch Kelly to the pen for the stretch. This Yankee series' and trips to LAA and Houston will decide a lot though.

Well a few weeks back it looked like a sell thread but only 5 games back its debatable. I think tonight's game, the Yankee series and the west coast trip to LAA than Houston will decide that.
I don't think we should trade any top guys for rentals but if we could add a pen arm without given up a ton I'd be for it. I'd hope to see Johnson get some starts to see if he could take the Masterson/Kelly spot and I'd like to see Kelly out of the pen. Hopefully his stuff would play up and he could make a jump like Miller did for us.
Thinking out loud would you trade Napoli for LaRoche? He isn't having a great season but i think I'd trust him over Nap. With Chicago looking like a seller maybe they'd be okay getting away from next years commitment to him and let Napoli play this year out.
Also any starters out there that aren't rentals? Ross or Cashner?
Edit: looks like LaRoche is due $13 mill next year. I thought it was less. Doubt I'd do that.

I thought Johnson was scheduled today? If so is he still sick or are they getting him ready for Mastersons spit?

I think Swiahrt could learn more splitting time with Hannigan than playing the majority of Time in AAA. Hannigan has been around and knows the AL East.

Would you add the Astros Jon Singleton to the list as a potential headline? Team friendly deal and we have a need at 1B going forward.

With news Hanley may be DL bound would anyone like to see Craig up for a few weeks to see if his timings back? He has almost 160 PAs in AAA now but he still needs regular ABs regardless.

Another good outing by Miley today. Given he's signed for two more years plus an option I'd bet he'd be appealing to a lot of teams.

Does Marrero have any experience outside of SS? I think he's played some 2B/3b to increase his versatility.

If he's a DH long term I don't see why we would move him to 1B next year just to have the growing pains he's having now in LF. At least in LF he doesn't others like his D at first would on the rest of the IF.

Let's get JBJ some ABs. Give him a month of at least 4-5 starts a week and let's see if those plate adjustments are for real.

Hey, I didn't play, don't congratulate me! Crazy that this is the year they won it - they've been more loaded in the past, but this year they came from nearly missing their conference tournament to winning the whole thing. #sports Congrats. I totally get where your coming from as a South Carolina fan. We've had some good teams but I don't think we get past UVA that year if Hultzen doesn't gets sick. Those were some great teams but to win in Omaha you need some luck too bc everybody is good.

So I guess if we hear Johnson gets skipped late today he's taking Kelly's spot. If not odds point to Masterson if that change is made now.

Was Shelby Miller offered in the Lackey package? If so we picked the wrong guy. I mean there's no way to know for sure. But no he wasn't. Thanks I wasn't sure. I know he was hurt around the deadline last year.
