I'd take an Iglesias highlight reel over a Simmons reel any day.

I hate to be that guy, but could someone give a description of what just happened?
Not trying to bring up the blackout thing again, but I can't understand why I can't stream WEEI broadcast, when if I had an AM radio with me I'd be able to listen from the exact same spot for free.

Napoli's 2014 wRC+ 124, league average for 1B 109. Napoli's slugging percentage for 2014, 419, which was equal to the league average for 1B. He is also a solid glove at 1st. I have no idea why he is slumping so bad to start the year (could just be a slump, or mechanics related) but I'm not giving up on him, he has consistently been a good hitter every single year of his career.
ADD: and with the bases loaded let's see if he could break that slump.

For all the Mookie-mania, he really hasn't been performing with the bat so far. He's striking out a lot (21.2%) and not taking his walks (7.7%) compared to his minor league stats and is slashing 191/250/362. From my non scouting eye, it also looks like he is taking some bad swings at pitches out of the strikezone low and away. In Mookie we trust, but at least for now he's not doing anything that would suggest that he belongs in the majors over JBJ or Castillo.

Man, Pedroia is trying to do too much with men on. ADD: Wonder why they pinch ran mookie and then didn't steal him there. Oday threw 6 straight balls.. Hanley really shouldn't of swung at that pitch

Maybe they should make each position player pitch one inning per game. I actually think this would be interesting in an alternate reality. Remember in college football when you could only sub 2 players each play?

Adding DH should help 2 of MLB's goals of speeding up the game and helping out the offense.
The only thing I like about the DH/No DH rule is that both leagues handle it differently. It's something that makes inter league games and the WS a little more interesting. Other than that, the way that the game evolved there is no real point of a pitcher holding a bat.

My favorite Shane Victorino moment will always be the grand slam in game 6 of ALCS (Me being there was a big part of it). He was down 2 strikes and we didn't think he had a chance against a right handed breaking ball. It didn't look like anything special off the bat, we weren't sure if it was foul or a pop up or a wall ball, Fenway held it's breath while the ball was in the air then erupted into madness once it cleared the monster. With 2 innings left and Tazawa and Uehara in the pen the 3 run lead felt like 100. It was at that point everyone in Boston knew we were going to the world series. Great video compilation of fan videos of the grand slam. nesn.com/2013/11/shane-victorinos-alcs-grand-slam-captured-in-video-composed-entirely-of-fan-submitted-footage-video/

Well that was a pretty impressive debut for Martin. 5 strikeouts over 2 innings.

Isn't Desmond suppose to be a plus defender?
I think they want Craig to be Carp 2.0 to rebuild his value. Tough day for a guy fighting for playing time.

Would be nice to pick up a Cueto or an Eduardo Rodriguez mid-season...rotation not looking too hot against a real offense. A couple more turns through the rotation like this and that will be moot. In case you haven't noticed the last two wins owed as much to the errors by Wash as offense. Same could be said for at least 1 game in each of the other two series, too, as the Sox final run counts exceeded the earned runs they generated. It's nice to win 2 out of three but I have to believe the competition the Sox will be facing won't be as bad in the field as the first three teams played so far - especially Wash. Yea, but I also don't think three of our starters will be carrying 7+ ERA's the entire year. Miley also started May April last year with a 5+ ERA, so he may just be a slow starter.

I read it as trade value related. I.E. We think Craig is a clean up hitter, or he may get more strikes with some protection, or RBI chances for teams like the Phillies to value.

Tough inning. Time show them what this offense could do, especially against a lefty at Fenway.

@ryanhannable: Farrell said there was some thought of putting Mookie Betts at 3B last night, if Hanley couldn't go there. I wonder if at any point they considered Pede at SS, Betts at 2B. Probably not, but I would of loved to see that for half a game.

if you buy his 1.9 fWar as a baseline for 2015, at 6-7M per war he is reasonably priced. I'm not sure you can do that, though. His velo and his strikeout rate have been declining for years, and he's 34 and has a lot of mileage on his arm. I'd think about acquiring him if it only cost me money or mid-tier prospects, but based off their trade talks with the Brewers, it sounds like the Phillies want both. In which case, he's not important enough that I extend myself to get him, at least this early in the season. Sure i see the negative trend, but that doesn't mean he hasn't put up good k%, bb%, FIP, ERA, etc... Or in other words, been a good reliever. Anyways, I wasn't trying to suggest Papelbon is the only option, just one of the preferable options to paying big for an "ace". I think the package I outlined is consistent with your money or mid tier comment, depending on how much the phillies eat.

, I changed channels when Koji came in as I feared the worst. Red Sox went 86 years without a ws and you're scared to watch Koji close a game in April?
