They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Reposting this tweet from July 4th, because when it was originally posted, I feared it meant he could stick with the Phillies. Now that he's back with us I can appreciate this clip and see something decent stuff!

Yuten ends with a three-hit game. At the time of this post (two other FCL games going on), he's second in the FCL in hits and average and tied for seventh in OPS. Zanatello also with a very complex league three walk, three steal day Complex league indeed, but nice to see his 3BB:0K on a day when the rest of the team had 2BB:11K.

Side note: Did the Red Sox trade their only HS pitching prospect left in the system? Almost. ERC still here though. Do you count Aaron Perry or starters only?

Report below says nothing about the Red Sox but does mention offers from 2 NL teams and 1 AL team. It's hard to know for sure but I think only ARI and COL might have more pool $ remaining than us? I wonder how enticing it would be to offer $600K plus the opportunity to rise the minor league ranks with Chan-Sol Lee, which I imagine would help soften the culture shock and barriers these guys would face.
Also, generally speaking, signing top Korean prospects just before the KBO draft would be a fairly new trend right? I'm sure exceptions exist, but this would seemingly be an important wrinkle in the international market moving forward if the KBO can't more provide more incentive for their amateur players to stay.

Ovis Portes making his season debut down in the DSL. Nice! He was quietly good in the DSL last year as a 17 year old. Struck out the side in a perfect inning for his debut today.

I'm grateful that we're not one of the teams leaving $ on the table.

Chan-sol Lee ranked #7 in this list of prospects for the upcoming KBO draft. His stats look considerably worse than those ranked ahead of him which should largely be a reflection of the BB per inning rate noted by KoreaSoxFan above. The stuff by all accounts seems pretty impressive but let's keep in mind there is a pretty low floor for a guy who struggles to throw consistent strikes. I'm not trying to diss overall....I'm a big fan of this signing given the situation and $ left in our pool.

Luis Cohen pitched pretty well for the FCL squad: 5IP, 4H, 2ER, 1BB, 6K. He had been perfect through the first three innings with all six of those Ks.

In the end, Nazzan Zanetello matches Arjun Nimmala's bonus exactly and I'll have a hard time not comparing them as they progress through their careers. They actually seem like fairly similar players in terms of being toolsheds at least.

What I have been told - Sox have been upfront with Call and told him he is a backup plan if someone does not sign. His request came in at $1M - Sox simply do not have that amount to sign him If he was an insurance pick all along, then I tend to doubt there is any $ left over for a Day 3 pick with the exception of Nelly Taylor if he gets a little more than the $150K.
