How is offering ERod a year a waste of time? That’s like the first thing that happens in free agency before anyone makes big decisions. This isn’t the NFL where everyone signs the first few days.

The Pitcher Who Was Promised

Truly amazing that this team is tied 1-1 in the ALCS with this pitching staff. You have 3 or 4 pitchers (Hernandez being the latest) that look almost unplayable. Hopefully E Rod can go 5 innings. Have you looked at Houston's pitching staff? Their pen has outpitched ours twice. Also, why did they remove Davis for Darwinzon?

Would’ve loved to see Eovaldi get through 6 but this hook makes sense.

Verdugo was hot and Dalbec has been ice cold. Can go with Big Bob at home in game 5.

The Sox lost last night due to atrocious hitting with RISP. Sale wasn’t great but not the reason they lost.

People keep saying they want Houck as a reliever but this is a pretty good example of why thats a stupid idea.

2nd and 3rd lefty-lefty shouldve tried to manufacture a run with verdugo with a bunt.

Im at a bar in Boston and there’s a guy here in a Tim Wakefield jersey with a thick boston accent. Pretty hilarious

Did anyone notice Dusty Baker is wearing sunglasses inside at a night?

Couldnât agree more. This team has momentum, gotta stay aggressive. Push guys on the bases and put pressure on Valdez. The double plays suck, but caught stealings are just as bad. They have not had trouble scoring runs and they are not good at stealing bases so I'm not changing much. Theyâre not as bad actually because stealing works a lot more often than it doesnt and Valdez is throwing lots of off speed stuff. Kiké and Verdugo also arent slow

I mean, you don’t need to cheat when the Red Sox hit into double plays every inning.

A team with limited speed that never steals bases is going to hit into a lot of double plays. I feel like we're averaging 1.5 a game.

So I have a question, we have a better record than ATL, but they won their division. So who has Home field advantage in the World Series? Just asking for a friend who is buying tickets. If it is Red Sox vs Braves in the WS then the Sox have home field. It goes to whoever has the best record of the two teams. That is incorrect, its based on seed not record. I don’t think it matters though we’d beat the braves regardless.

I thought they already said yesterday he would be back for the World Series at the earliest?

I guess I’m in the minority but people with political takes I disagree with annoys me far less than when they gush and overhype players on the Yankees.

I actually like Dave O’Brien better than Orsillo or Eckersley. Orsillo talked too much about his personal life and Eckersley is just too negative and cheesy sometimes.
Joe Castig is my favorite though.

I wonder if this will be the first playoff round where the broadcasters and national media aren't palpably rooting for the Red Sox' opponent? They come in as the undersogs and are putting together kind of a nice phoenix rising narrative, while the Astros still have a whiff of that trash can stink about them... There will always be a lot of national media guys pretty openly rooting against Boston, a lot of them come from California and New York.

I keep hearing people want Houck as a reliever than a starter but I feel like its too much of a waste. He seems like more of a horse and less of a guy that gets super fired up and throws gas for one inning like Papelbon or Kimbrel.
I much prefer him as a back end starter than as the new Whitlock. Bulk relievers have a lower ceiling of value and we hve a tough division where we need as much value as possible.

Eovaldi ERod Sale Pivetta
That’s how I’d line it up to start. Get Sale at home to try and get him right.
I went to the wild card game against the MFYs and both home games against the Rays but going to hve to take this series off. The Red Sox lost the last two playoff games against the Astros that I went to so I don’t want to jinx it. Also want to save any money for a potential World Series game which I’ve never been to.

Yankee fans are more upset with Cashman than Boone I believe and I would be too if I were them.

Gotta get Sale right. I think it would be extremely difficult to win the World Series if they do not.
