I assume Hill will be playing 3rd vs lefties. I don't hate it

Everyone was talking about the punch, at work even the non sports fans were talking about it. I have zero issue with Kopech here. I just wish we'd get some on field updates. You gonna catch a Drive game this week? I've been going to Hickory this week I wanted to go to the Espinoza vs Peter Lambert game yesterday in Asheville but I couldn't get out of work. Thanks for the update radiohix. Where does everyone think he's going Greenville or Salem? I think he's ready for Salem, he did pretty well in Greenville last yr

Salem Red Sox @salemredsox ROSTER MOVE: OF Joseph Monge has been received from Low-A Greenville. The roster is at the maximum 25 players. Well earned he's been terrific with the bat and glove this yr. Glad to see this

Nobody knew what Chavis hurt last night there was speculation it was ankle. For those that missed it, crazy call on Greenville, Chavis hit a slow roller to SS the the throw was wild Chavis over ran 1st like you're supposed to do. He took a quick look at 2nd but the ball bounced right back to the 1st baseman so he was slowly walked back to the 1st base bag when he got tagged and the umpire rung him up.
The look to 2nd was so subtle it didn't look like he committed at all.
Chavis argued but Fenster got him out of there quickly But when he didn't come out next inning I thought he got kicked out others said he was limping I didn't see it

Espinoza was working on fastball command particularly the 2 seamer. 90% fastball’s tonight in his 1st two outings it was 60-70%
the 4 seamer was 95-97 touched 98, he located it well and the Fireflies hitters struggled to catch up.
the 2 seamer was 91-94 he missed down and in to righties a lot. He was a little bit all over the place with the pitch though

Ockimey bomb to dead center
also interesting the Columbia Fireflies shifted against him that's the 1st I'd heard that in low-A

I've seen a fair amount of each at this point. It's close but I'll take Longhi, he makes significantly better contact plus he's deceptively strong he hit a ball over the right field wall last yr that was gone by 30', a 19 yr old hitting the ball 370+ the opposite way is pretty rare. it's a level swing so that will limit the game power so a lot of 2B's and 15 ish HR's assuming there's no adjustment plus he could play corner outfield
Ockimey is obviously strong as well, David Hill of Asheville left a fastball up a couple of weeks ago and Ockimey smoked it the other way for a 2B and the ball got out there in a hurry. He's got plus raw power but I also saw him struggling to pick up spin.
They both have skills but I trust Longhi's bat a little more plus he's a little more versatile defensively

I saw both of Espinoza's starts on this opening homestand he wasn't as sharp tonight and his velo was down, 94-98 in the 1st start 91-95 tonight (mostly on the low end).
Asheville couldn't touch him last week, a lot of hard contact tonight
I'm not worried he's an 18 yr old kid he's going to have his nights where he doesn't have it

Thanks Chris I still think we may have something here with
Raiwinson Lameda
In 2014 he was our Latin player of the year In 2015 he was the hits leader at the Rookie level for Winter leagues
Obviously we'll know soon enough. Hopefully he can a full season worth of games in the States in 2016

I appreciate the reply, yeah you really can't learn anything from 36 at bats in the GCL
what caught my eye was the league leader in hits in the Venezuelan league.
Here's something interesting
Maureen Mullen on Twitter from 27 Sep 2014
RedSox MiL awards [con't] OF Raiwinson Lameda Latin program player of year; RHP Daniel Gonzalez Latin program pitcher of year.

I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on Sox Outfield prospect Raiwinson Lameda.
He only appeared in 12 games in the GCL this yr and from what I could gather on Twitter through translation is that he did very well in the Parallel league this past Fall (wherever that is) he was the hits leader.

This is a nice get for the Yanks, scary backend of the pen now but if you're the Reds and this was the best offer out there, hang onto him let him start the yr with you serve whatever susp there is to serve and trade him to a contender at the deadline assuming no more shenanigans they would have gotten much more he's an impact arm who could have pushed a team over the top. Jeez guys they keep giving your talent away I wasn't impressed with the Frazier return either
maybe we should be in on Bruce I'm sure he could be had really cheap

I keep seeing Benintendi listed as part of the core four but I still like Margot better. He's a better defensive CF, he's faster. They both have 50/55 hit potential IMO and I question how much power Benintendi will display vs advanced pitching. He jacked a lot of fastballs on the inner third this yr. re: Margot, I totally fail to see why people think his bat is that strong. He looks like a future platoon bat that won't walk much. I've seen Margot a couple of times I love the bat speed and the barrel control everything he swings at he hits. Advanced pitching used his approach against him and he put a lot pf pitchers pitches in play. He'll adjust. He's the style of hitter I have the most faith in making the jump to the bigs. Most guys I see struggle to make consistent contact or are to passive

I'm still super high on Margot. I see a 70 glove in CF who's capable of 280-15-35
the part everybody is missing with the splits is he still has the same 12% K rate so a lot of that is Babip related in part due to his aggressive approach more advanced pitchers were using his approach against him and he was putting a bunch of pitchers pitches in play but I have more faith in players like Margot that are excellent contact hitters that they'll learn a little bit of patience over the swing and miss guys figuring out how to make more contact.
