Stars and scrubs ftw! Mookie, Sale and Kimbrel are just amazing. Kendrick and Marrero are also amazing in their own ways.

I like it, seems like Farrell learned a couple lessons in the Minnesota game: 1- You cant trust Barnes. 2- Cant wait for a save situation that might never come to use Kimbrel. And bringing in Kimbrel in the 8th leads to 10 run 9th innings for the Red Sox. This might happen.

I want to congratulate Marrero for being so bad that I want a bunt right now for the first time in 10 years.

And thats ignoring the fact that theres a solid chance he wont get out of the inning anyway(like today) and you blow the game for no reason.

Do you all want to burn the bullpen in May? I don't like Farrell either, but come on man. Maybe you want to blame him for pitching Pomeranz and Kendricks back-to-back? I'm not sure that's on him, though. Yeah, because pulling Kendrick in the 5th inning instead of the 6th or 7th is gonna destroy the bullpen for the rest of the season.

I'm shocked that letting Kendrick face the lineup for a 3rd time isnt working again.

Last thing the Red Sox need is for Kendricks to get BABIP'ed to death. That's 1 walk and 3 soft ground ball singles. Thats what happens when you cant strike out anybody.

1-run game? Bring in the literal worst pitcher in the majors, who has a 1:2 K:BB ratio. Farrell logic: Up 4 in the 9th is higher leverage than tied or down 1 in the 5th-7th inning.

My sense is that very, very few pitchers actually go out and aim at a guy's head. But if you're aiming at his back, it's a very real risk that you might miss your location and come very close to hitting a guy in the head. Trying to hit someone is not a pitch anyone practices, and most pitchers aren't all that accurate with pitches that they do practice. That's why the retaliation system is dumb. Even if you're aiming to just plunk a batter in the ***, there's a real chance you might miss and put a guy's health at risk. Just like when you do the "hard slide" you'll also "put a guy's health at risk". If Machado wants to play like that he has to be aware this kind of stuff might happen to him.

Ockimey with his second HR of the year. Ockimey with another 2-R HR. Love to see this. I hate it, he's getting some terrible rally killing habits!

Its like Kimbrel chooses the worst possible games to blow. It wasn't a meltdown like he walked 4 dudes in a row, Morales was sitting fastball and got a decent one to hit and hit it really hard. It happens, it's baseball. I'm encouraged because Kimbrel kept his composure and finished the inning strong, last year we probably wouldn't have made to extras. Im not trying to say its his fault or anything, Just a coincidence... Guess Im still not over that BS at YS to clinch the division last year. I was even arguing in Kimbrels favor in his last appearance. It was just horrible timing after waiting that long for the one run, thats all.

Please have someone up warming. I understand the skepticism after last year, but he has been great to start this season, and thats very different to a guy with no track record having a hot start. Lets have some confidence.

I agree you gotta use Kimbrel, If this was a 3 run lead then sure, but cant **** around in a 1 run game.

Great logic, its all about being macho, not winning ball games apparently. It's about winning ball games in the long run, not playing scared not to lose a game in mid April. Farrell trusts guys to over perform, which leads to undesirable results at times but in the long run it leads to guys who are actually good playing with confidence. I like the approach. There is a lot of evidence the first part is true (undesirable results) and none of the latter. You make a lot of assumptions about this kind of stuff. Didnt you say Maddon would never win a world series just last year?

Well, who do you recommend? We know Kimbrel is not an option, Barnes might not be available, sure Hembree is probably a better option. But Taylor was an upgrade on Ross there. Just bring your best available pitcher (probably Hembree), its very unlikely a higher leverage spot will happen later.

I like Ben Taylor here. If you can't macho your way out of this, you probably shouldn't be on the roster. Great logic, its all about being macho, not winning ball games apparently.

Wow so because its "only the 7th inning" he doesnt think this is a high leverage situation, the fact Ben Taylor is pitching right now is insane.

I was so ready to complain about Farrell leaving Wright to face the top of the order for the 4th time lol but he made the move, gotta give some credit for learning his lesson.

Raudes left after three innings and only throwing 45 pitches, anyone know if he got hurt? There was a rain delay and they decided to not send him back out.

Really encouraging start today for Brian Johnson after taking a ball to the head (again) in his last start. 7K's and 1BB and 1R through 6 innings. Not sure if he's done or not. Pretty lethargic offense for the Pawsox so far, they trail 1-0 Joe Ross has a 116 ERA+ in 181 2/3 innings the last two years. Hard to believe he's not in the majors. Or, if the Nats don't believe in him, another team. ---- Hm. Just noticed that old friend Brandon Snyder is playing second base for the Chiefs. It is his third game there this season, after having never played there as a pro. So yeah, the Nats middle infield depth could be an issue. Pretty sure they are trying to get an extra year of control on him. They went as far as giving a start to Guthrie to get it.

Mitch Moreland en fuego. Is Selsky really much faster than Moreland, though? Yeah, should've put Wright as a PR.
