Michael Almanzar 2/3 with two doubles and a walk. Is he again a legit prospect?

Struggling against lefties continues. Quite weird for this rhb heavy lineup.

OK, Kyle Stroup throws harder than I expected. He's sitting 94-95 consistently, reaching back for even more a few times ... Sound great. He could be a back end starter.

With Gray moving up rapidly, Kris Bryant having a huge season, and it's safe to assume there will be one more player to shoot up boards before the draft (Kohl Stewart, Jon Denney, Chris Anderson). It's becoming more realistic that we could land Clint Frazier or Austin Meadows. Frazier is the kid I have wanted all along I think he is going to be a stud. If we ended up with Bryant I would be okay with that, the big college bats picked at the top of the draft usually project well to the majors. I agree that Clint Frazier would be the best fit to Boston. He is said to play better on the big stage.

If Ellsbury looks like he's regained the pop he had in 2011, I'd bat him 3rd. Pedey should bat 2nd. Let JBJ lead off. That's his skill set. OBP and can run. Napoli cleanup. I'd bat Papi 5th when he comes back. WMB 6TH. We'd have that L-R-L-R-L-R managers seem to like. Not sure about Farrell's opinion on that. Switch hitter at 7 with Victorino, kind of like a 2nd leadoff hitter. Drew batting 8th is a lefty. Good if Vic gets on base. Salty/Ross batting 9th. Looks like a great idea but there is strong assumption that Ells should be back to himself of 2011.

I have not heard anything about Webster since he was optioned, and I am very interested. Has he played in games since, or been scouted? Webster is the prospect for me to keep following. As far as I know, Webster pitched twice since being optioned to AAA. I think Al Skorupa's scouting report was about his first outing while soxprospects staff scouted his second outing. Also you can find his interview in milb.com. He sounds very humble.

Most interesting part is his changeup. I thought it was no better than a solid pitch. Was it improved or did Alex Speier exaggerate?

I agree that you do Porcello-for-Bailey in a heartbeat (especially with Doubront in less than perfect shape and Morales injured), but I want to point out that Bailey is under team control next year (2014) as well. This.

has anyone seen anyone give an actual REASON Frazier supposedly has to move off CF? I mean he supposedly has a plus arm and plus-plus speed, to me that says center field. It seems like it is being implied to be about his height, but that's a pretty sorry excuse for a reason, it has zero effect on your range. Are they just assuming he is going to put on a ton of weight and get slow? Because that seems like a pretty senseless assumption as well. Unless he starts taking steroids I doubt he will put on enough muscle to be a serious detriment to his range. I don't know but he has plus plus arm (mid 90's) and plus speed. While Meadow has the same speed as Frazier's he is said to be more likely to stick CF without bulking up too much. Thus I guess that Frazier may not have great instinct in outfield.

Agreed. I am tired of him. Don't redsox think makeup is important? Also we have enough depth in bullpen.

I watched some Stanek's video. I hate his delivery. To my amateur eyes it is just unnatural. Every scouting reports I read says that he puts too much pressure on his elbow. TJ surgery is very likely.
BA released the article on Meadows v. Frazier. They still give a slight edge to Meadows even after watching Frazier's show of late. Here is the summary I found.
Meadows is a better overall hitter. Frazier has more power. Speed and Defense are a "push". Frazier has a much bigger arm. Meadows has a bigger frame. Frazier has more swagger.

I get the thought that Frazier's size is a concern. To me he looks 6'0" rather than 6'1". But I don't understand why Law believes Frazier will be moved into a corner. Isn't he very fast?

I am very positive on the chance of Webster's command improvement because his delivery is very simple and stable and he is an athletic kid as a former SS.
