You're right -- Sabean it was. I suspect Chaim has far better advisors. The game evolves too fast for the old farts to keep up.

Excellent! Throw BobbyV in there too.

MFYs cornering the market for old, ineffectual front office castoffs. Minaya signs, per MLBTR. Another one a couple of days earlier.

No trading of Rafaela for me. Have you noticed how few good outfield prospects are in our high minors?

Why would Atlanta kick in cash for Swanson? He's a free agent.

Bogie's signed with the Padres for an astronomical amount.
Do you wish the Sox had offered that?
I love Xander, but no.
A player's agent -- in this case, Boras -- has one job: to get the best deal for his client.
Boras is the best. Regardless of what the Sox might have offered last year, they were going to free agency this year.
Why is everyone freaking out and blaming Bloom?
We all knew this was going to happen, short of the SD offer.
How about Raffy at 11 years?
This is what free agency has become. Play it or stay home.

This just sucks. Bogie, you're the best. Thank you for all your great RS years.
Think about it: As soon as Boras was his agent, he was going to the high bidder.
Raffie doesn't have Boras. Will he be amenable to a signing this off-season? I don't know anything about his agent.
But, as of now, we know Raffie's asking will be astronomical. What to do? Before the season starts, maybe it's time to....

No, rotate the OFs through the DH.

I agree with you on pitching.
For SS, I suggest Iggy for two years. Batted almost .300 this year, and I loved his enthusiasm when he was last with us.
Get a big bopping OF, preferably RF. If we can get Nimmo or Conforto without going over the tax threshold. Preferably Nimmo.

I asked Tim Dierkes this question on MLB Trade Rumors FrontOffice (paid subscription). He said Trevor Story or Amed Rosario (Guardians). I still love Iggy, though...

What's the expectation on signing shortstops? Do you think there will be a flurry of signing all/most of them in the next two weeks? I'm sure Chaim will be calling Turner's agents first thing tomorrow. Let the Xander and Turner options play out in that time period. If no Xander, Turner is my choice.

If I were Chaim (how I wish), I'd tell Boras -- If Xander accepts our offer, we will make him Captain. And of course, greatly improve the team.

Can we stop for a moment, and concentrate on what the Sox need?
Right away --
1st base RF, unless they believe RobR is that person dominant reliever. Or two.
And: If they trade Vaz, you can't really have Plaw and Wong, can you?
Who do you get, and who are you trading for them?

I don't see how Sox can trade Vaz unless there's a trade for Sean Murphy-type. Plaw as starter? Not a good plan.

Going back to the MLBTradeRumors piece, it is now apparent to me that Mark P misunderstood the question. That does happen to chat moderators, who have to handle a lot of questions.

CVas is having a great year -- I'd hang onto him. Very good situational batting, and stellar defense.
Instead of Soto, take that money, keep our prospects, resignXander and extend Raffy.

On MLB Trade Rumors last night, moderator Mark P. was asked if the Sox should trade Xander, Nate, and JD.
To my shock, he said yes to all three.
What do you-all think? If if Chaim does, what are likely to be the returns?

Where will he play?
Ideally, Jarren in left, Kique in C, Duggie in R (he was really good there his first year with the Sox. Refsnyder as 4th OF if he continues his magic?
Where does that leave JBJ? He's great at home, and in the field. But the noodle bat.
