I just happened to watch Arizona-Miami in College World Series Bracket game recently. I wasn't impressed by Bob Dalbec's 2 bats. He striked out by chasing two strikes in high upper & wide out of strike zone. Then, he ground out to SS in next bat. I missed his earlier at bats. Based on I watched him batting twice, I think the FO should not offer him more than $350K from Round 4 (Slot $501,300). I don't really excited by him as the Red Sox 3B prospect if he signs with the RS. He's free swinger. Sorry to tell you negative about him. I don't know what's the factor for the FO to draft him. Dalbec makes more sense as a closer than a bat.

Seems like we line up nicely with San Diego, where we offer a package of prospects for buchter and Pomeranz. I know dombrowski has said no one is untouchable, but in my mind benintendi is as close to untouchable as untouchable gets. Everybody else though can be in play. Are you telling me you'd deal Moncada and/or Espinoza for this deal? I wouldn't. Last time I checked, we had many many many prospects in the system. Not sure what we would have to offer San Diego, but every trade does not need to start with our top guys.

Saw the game in Winston-Salem tonight. Ball looked sharp. Good velo & CB. Moncada and Longhi dn play. Ball's stuff is very good. The problem is command and control. Once he gets them figured out and repeats his delivery consistently, he should be a major league pitcher,

I buy the reports, actually makes a ton of sense. Padres had a huge draft pool and could rather easily give him 5 million and with his talent it would be well worth it. If the Red Sox were in the Padres shoes, I'd be pretty happy if they came out of the draft with 5 of the top 71 choices with one being Groome, which seems doable going with senior signs for rounds 3-10 and including the 5% overage. Still trying to figure out why San Diego made some questionable draft choices this year.

At what point does Haley become an actual prospect? He's a 6th-rounder with GB tendencies, and he's age-appropriate for his level. Excepting some stretches of poor control, he's had a pretty easy time in the minors. When Haley pitches down in the strike zone and commands his pitches, he looks like a major league starter, but when he rushes the delivery and the arm drags, everything is up in the zone and he gets killed.

RP Ryan Buchter, 29 Yrs old, 6'4" Left Hander could be a good target. Would be a good get. He has recently been "promoted" to the set-up man. Not real young (29) but has good SO/BB numbers & is under control for years. This is probably the kind of guy they need to keep. Seems like we line up nicely with San Diego, where we offer a package of prospects for buchter and Pomeranz. I know dombrowski has said no one is untouchable, but in my mind benintendi is as close to untouchable as untouchable gets. Everybody else though can be in play.

If Oakland makes gray available, I think dombrowski goes all in on acquiring him.
Short of that , Maybe we go back to the San Diego well and offer up a package of prospects for Pomeranz and their super lefty reliever.
Plan c would be talking to the Brewers about Braun and/or lucroy,

If we sign groome, won't he still have to complete he shoulder training program before he even sniffs the field?

I've watched moncada a bit now and I am not sure he is picking up the spin of pitches. He seems to know a fastball, after that it is all guessing,
Maybe staying in Salem is not such a bad thing for him to gain more experience.

Porcello is intriguing and maddening to watch pitch.
He can throw 10 to 15 perfect sinkers and look great doing it.
But just when you think he is on his game, he throws a meatball!
And instead of thinking he is throwing good game and that was one bad pitch, instead you are on pins and needles wondering when is the next meatball gong to be thrown.
Very hard to watch a game that he pitches.

In my mind signing jayson is all we need to do to have a successful draft this year.
I'm still sad that we missed out on Bowden and boomer white, but it is what it is.
Absolutely love the closers from Florida and Oregon and the starter from Maryland.

Marrero and Brentz are career minor leaguers for a reason, dude. Let's not even talk about Craig. I mean, at this point you've got to try something else right? Dude's been falling off a cliff and as I said it's certainly not BABIP related and he's also a liability on the field and the base path. He's been the definition of replacement level. Why not give a shot to a guy like Brentz (no pun intended)? He's been trying a new all field approach so give him a few reps at first base for a couple of weeks and see what he's got. Who thought Shaw would be the starting 3rd baseman? Everybody has slumps, let's give him the same time we would with anybody else. Seems like his hands are higher than normal, which affects his timing to the ball.

Glad we pulled out a win today. Wish Rodriguez would have thrown better though. Maybe we can send him to the Yankees for Andrew Miller to fortify the pen down the stretch? Even though he is struggling a bit this year, I still believe that Rodriguez will eventually be a #2 starter in this league. Very few players I would trade him for.

Wright is the best pitcher in the american league. Take that for needing another "top of the rotation arm" Boston media. Go get Rich Hill and risk little future. I still think we need another top of the rotation arm. But I do not think hill is the answer.

Also, from BA's immediate pre-draft mock: www.baseballamerica.com/draft/mock-draft-5-2-moniak-remains-top/#l8Ptzyy3b7AQHpww.97I wonder if Groome groomed himself to fall to his team with "bonus demands." As much as has been made about his "immaturity," this is a kid who helped organize a matchup with another local prospect (drawing thousands of fans) for charity. Seems like a pretty upstanding thing to do for a guy with supposed "character issues." Does the "immaturity" you speak of have anything to do with the bottle?

I'm 3/4 serious when I say just make Dalbec a pitcher and save yourself the time and anguish. Wow! What a game he threw today. 9k's and he commanded the strike zone.

Groome is an incredible pick at #12. The curveball is amazing, the fastball is decent. Needs To develop the change up, but this pick has a chance to be an incredible steal.

So, Farrell is just gonna keep bashing his head against the wall in hitting Hanley in the 4/5 holes? Man, that Travis injury sucks on so many levels: They could've gave him the Sandoval treatment by the ASB. I hope they get Brandon Moss at the trade deadline so they could bench his declining rear end. It really does. Especially since Shaw is slumping badly. Maybe pitchers finally have a book on him.

Actually would like that explored myself. Love see Price and Papi get in his head. I mean honestly he probably needs to see an actual therapist or something, and on top of that he's also broken as a pitcher. He's a reclamation project in almost every way, but in terms of what he might cost versus his upside, I don't know that you can do much better. No denying his stuff is electric. Can you imagine him on the mets staff? Wow!
