Just got home. Is this game not on NESN? It's not on NESN or NESN plus It's on Fox. The idiot who created the series thread screwed that up. It's ok. Honestly this thread is the easiest way to find what channel the game is on.

Worth noting that the Red Sox top 500 ranking would differ vastly from the BA rankings. Some of these guys that are not ranked really might be the Red Sox BPA. Betts and Ockimey come to mind. These are also the type of guys the Red Sox target in the middle of day two, which we would also lose out on because of lack of extra bonus pools for 2 years.
Honestly, I do think there could be a scenario where this could work, but it's would take a special situation and a lot of luck.

I'm fine with the pick. Like drafting a pitcher who has good command. There is upside there as well

Who ran over McKays dog? Is he upset he didn't go #1 or because he went as a 1b?

Red Sox Bomaye!
Red Sox starters are second in the league in fWAR behind the Diamonbacks(!?!?), more than half of the WAR is from Sale though, who would rank as the 18th best team by himself.

Michael Chavis is too good to stay in Salem. He's played 11 games at third base, and still hasn't played there on consecutive days. We'll see if he does in the nightcap. He's also never really hit for an extended period of time in the three years since they drafted him. It's not like Devers who has hit his way out of every level. Chavis hit okay in 2014 after the draft, and pretty well in April 2016 before he got hurt. He hasn't really done so other than that. Having him rake for a couple months at a level he can handle is a good idea I think. It's really awesome to see him re-establish himself, so I'm not trying to throw cold water on him or anything. I just think he's at a good level for his development right now. I missed this, why has he not been playing the field?

Don't know if you could do this without a big rework effort but just wanted to put it out there. On the stats page could you make stats sortable by ascending and descending order? For example, if you want to sort players by BB/9, it's going to show you the worst performers at the top, you can't reverse that to show the best at the top, all you can do is scroll to the last player and work your way up.

Does this mean you are starting to like the trade? Others have admitted that his performance has changed their calculus on the trade, do you have the guts to admit it also? I didn't think Kimbrel was going to be this good at the point of the trade, if the expectation was he would have a .49 FIP with a sub 1 ERA for three seasons, I would like the trade. But I also don't expect him to pitch on a 5.2 fWAR pace for the next 1.75 seasons. My expectation was he would of been a little better than he was last year.

I think JBJ is the third best position player on this team. My guess is he'll be 3rd in fWAR by end of season for position players.

I'll admit I'm a lineup nitpicker, but man I hate that Betts is leading off with Bogaerts and Pedroia behind him.

That's an immaculate inning by Kimbrell, right? 9 pitch 3 SO

My batting order would be
Pedroia Bogaerts Betts Benintendi Hanley
Pede and Bogey get on base around the same clip, but Bogaerts has the higher BA. So let him move Pede to third and cut down on the DP's. Best two hitters hitting 3rd and 4th like it should be.

C'mon. If it wasn't intentional, it was careless with the same exact result. Maybe he'll be more careful in the future, but I doubt it because he is who he is. He won't be more careful in the future, he'll probably be more reckless. His said he lost all respect for the organization, he's not going to go out of his way now. It's like flying war planes on N.Korea's boarder. It doesn't make them stop building nuclear weapons, in all probability it makes them continue to prioritize building them, while bulking up their hacker army.

You're repeating yourself for the 100th time because you don't seem to understand that people disagree with your basic assertion that the initial play was dirty. It doesn't matter what I think, it matters what teams that have those things happen to them think. It's not like retaliation for the slide was a surprise to anyone, whether they agree with it or not. Why would he ever throw that ball? Wow. This defense... I'd like to see the Red Sox pull the old 21 play in that situation. Not sure why we never see this attempted at the majors. The catcher pulls up like he's throwing to second but he fires the ball back to the pitcher, then they see if they can nab the guy at third.

I've said before, I think Red Sox were in the wrong and started this. That being said, I don't 100% buy the pitch by Gausman was innocent. Using a curveball makes it seem like it's unintentional, but that was square in Bogaerts hip. It wasn't like it was a slider that moves through the zone too much and hits the batters back leg or hands. I wouldn't put it past them to do it this way, to strike first and get the benches warned. Just my conspiracy theory.
The pitch at Benintendi's head was a changeup FYI.

This whole thing might be the most blown out of proportion "incident". It was a hard slide but trying to look st it objectively it really wasn't dirty. He was trying to beat the throw and came into the bag hot. He immediately tried to catch Pedroia and break his fall. He caught him on the bottom half of the leg; it's not like he kicked his leg out and up into the air. I don't know. I get why some people are emotional and don't like it considering the player involved by there is no way that anyone would think it was remotely dirty if the roles were reversed. This. Watching the play it didn't seem dirty to me either. Pedroia even said he was fine with the slide.

What's more impressive 7 strikeouts in 3 innings or 7 strikeouts in 36 pitches?

Chris Sale has a great pitching philosophy. Throw the ball really hard with lots of movement on the corners from a weird arm angel while mixing speeds. Not sure why more pitchers don't do this.
