Is there any reporting on Lin that would suggest his bat has improved this season, or is this just being considered a SSS hot streak? Bar for improvement is being set very low. Better than Marrero is the bar, right? I was thinking never having an OPS > .700 or Iso > .85 in any league he's been in.

Well, you could've said the same thing about Groome at this point last year, so... Fingers crossed for some vague maturity rumors.

If someone pushes you and you push them back you are not a vigilante. If your neighbor calls the town about the length of your grass so you call a noise complaint on their family picnic, your not a vigilante. You're just petty.
I'm generally against purposely throwing at someone because I feel it's somewhat cowardly (thinking Dempster hittinng A-Rod, Price hitting Ortiz) but I think there is some room for retaliation against a dirty play. That being said I don't think Machado was intentional, he actually tried holding Pedroia up after the slide. If Pedroia was OK with the slide you could move on there. Having one of your better relievers suspended is not worth it at that point.
Putting my morals aside I am entertained by the violence. I think we could all agree with that.

Not to disrespect guys like Lester and Beckett, but on sheer stuff alone we hadn't seen anyone as good as Sale pitching for the Red Sox since Pedro and it's not particularly close. The stuff he throws is just bonkers. Agree. But it appears that his desire to humiliate his opponents also serves him well. I also believe that helped set Pedro apart from his contemporaries also. It his having that combination of stuff and attitude that makes some guys rare. I was thinking the same about Sales stuff but what's more impressive to me is the command he has. He rarely has waste pitches and his walks are typically competitive. It's 97 FB's, Wipeout sliders, Plus changes, and they are all hitting the corners.

John "hot hand" Farrell has consistently shown a willingness to play guys outside of their platoon roles if they have been hitting well. He's done that with Chris Young, Jonny Gomes, etc. throughout the years. The other options today are holt at 1b or Vazquez/selsky dhing and Hanley at 1b.

What's that saying about it not being over till it's over? I think it goes "It's aint over till it's over", or something like that.

Wright's fastball command is so good. He's got the perfect fastball to go along with that good knuckleball. He's going to be great again this year if he stays healthy. He doesn't get enough credit for how well he mixes his pitches. His FB has to be the most valuable FB per MPH (82 MPH)

If you look deep enough into my post history, you'll find some posts where I suggest we should trade Ellsbury to Texas for Olt. Just thought I should call myself out on that.
Good low risk signing.

The investigation would have large amounts of data as to what computers accessed the database, what user names and passwords were used, and what data they accessed. They would have a very good idea if someone else was logging into the database. I guess you can't prove that others in the Cardinals organization knew about what he was doing, but it seems like an act he wouldn't want to allude to others.

I am not known to be much of a prospect hoarder, but how cool would it have been to see 2 Sox players in the top 3 still playing for the organization. I wish Henry Owens, or the myriad of starting pitcher tranasactions this team has tried would have worked out, so as to keep Moncada. I know, DD may traded anyway, but still, I would loved to see that. Or 1,2 m.mlb.com/prospects/2017/?list=prospects1. Benny Baseball 2. [Moncada] 16.[Kopech] 17. Devers 23. [Margot] 25. [Espinoza] 41. Groome It doesn't really mean anything, but if those prospects were not traded this would have to be one of the highest rated farm systems off all time. and that's coming from a system that graduated Bogaerts, Betts, E-Rod, Bradley, Swihart, and Vazquez in the last three years.

If (and I know it’s Buchholz so a rather big if) Clay stays healthy for a half season for the Phillies, I bet they turn around and trade him for a hell of lot more than a non prospect like Tobias. I'm willing to bet the above quote happens.

Looking back at the trade I think the Red Sox got the better of the trade. It follows the White Sox I would've taken the nationals offer. The nationals almost gave up just about as much for Adam Eaton as the Red Sox gave up to get Chris Sale. Now the Red Sox need to recoup some prospects by trading one of their starters and preferably Clay Buchholz. I would personally except international pool money for Clay Buchholz and we can pick up a couple million of its contract.I would hold onto Pomerantz until the July trading deadline and possibly trade him for prospects if we do not need him. My starting 5 pictures would be Sale, Price, Porcello, Eduardo Rodriguez, Stephen Wright. If this is true, then why would they have picked up Buchholz option?

Haven't been following baseball much recently. First reaction is it's not a bad trade (probably a good one even though I'd like to see these players develop), but I'm generally against the team building philosophy that DD has employed since joining the team. He's able to make these trades because BC hoarded the assets for him. He won't have that luxury in the future.

1. I think Sandoval will be an average (100 wRC+) or higher hitter against RHP. IDK and IDC what he will do against LHP, because I don't think he should play against LHP
2. I don't agree with the question
3. Slightly declining performance from his last three years, but still above average
4. Opposed
5. A and D

The bar is going to be very low for Sandoval, but even with that, assuming Moncada starts at AAA, if he tears it up, I hope they're willing to give him a chance to take over the job Treatment of Sandoval in ST and Buch during the season should prove that this team will play the guys they think gives us the best chance to win.

I'm going to tonights game, my first Red Sox game not at Fenway Park. My friends have advised that I DONT wear my Red Sox hat and jersey, out of fear of oppressive Yankee fans. That really doesn't bother me though. Should I be concerned at all? Meh, you shouldn't be worried about anything that you wouldn't already worry about going to a sports stadium. There's a chance you'll run into a drunk obnoxious guy, but as long as you're not a drunk obnoxious guy you should be fine.
