Marlins are still on the hunt for a 1B:
We still have Craig to deal. The Marlins don't have much to offer, but unless we have a deal for Victorino this would be a good chance to clear another space for the OF.

I believe I heard on WEEI that they heard Boston might have a trade in the works for a reliever just a bit ago. Maybe just speculation. Yikes, they aren't good at that.

Well that's pretty interesting. Scouting report we have has hit topping out at 95. He's clearly come back strong from TJ. He's still only 21 and I'd love to see how his breaking pitches/command come along.

Rays got Smyly and Nick Franklin. Mariners got AJax How is this the return on Price? The Lester return looks way better. Baseball has genuinely changed in that no team wants to trade its top prospects for rentals. If anyone is going to trade one of their prized prospects then that player has to not only be elite but under control for plenty of years.

Rosenthal says Braves are out on Miller.
So who does that leave? Pitt. and KC? LA's?

Wow this board is pretty rough and looks at very little in perspective.
I think everyone is forgetting we still have a Lackey/Miller trade waiting to happen which should bring us back at least one top prospect if not a couple. I think everyone just needs to hop out of panic mode. Not to mention the comp pick is going to be huge for our draft next year as $800K is no little draft slot. That's going to be a very good prospect right there. We got someone who is going to make it easier for Ben to build a contending '15 during the off-season. The season was already in tank mode why don't we stop being typical over-dramatic Red Sox fans and have patience.

Check out Cespedes' spray charts. Look at that big clump of popup outs. Those are going to be foul balls in Fenway. And doubles to homeruns. I myself am pretty excited to see JBJ and Cespedes throwing the same outfield, and finally having that powerbat that we've been begging for all year. Cespedes is only 28 years old and depending on performance maybe we resign him after next year. He's obviously going to hit a lot of long balls, and he's posted an above average UZR the last couple seasons in a pretty big outfield (ignoring '12). Pretty exciting to see how Ben continues to build toward 2015.

This Lester sweepstakes is genuinely turning into a circus. But I must say (hope) Ben has to be doing a pretty decent job in maximizing the return. If Orioles are truly involving a third team we can't be receiving any less then two A-/B+ prospects as he has apparently been in strive for.

Love Bundy. If there are any added prospects, let's bring Branden Kline home while we're at it. </irrational_prospect_attachment> Love Kline as a #2 in the deal, getting him moved to the bullpen would have him helping in the bigs pretty quickly.

A couple of things on asurje. I watched him last night in charleston and he is the guy in that team worth watching. 1.) he made good contact all night. Seemed to really have a plan for each at bat and each situation. 2.) after seeing what happened when they sent Magee up to Salem earlier this yeAr and how badly he struggled. I think they have to be careful not to mess up a promising career. 3.) aro - the relief pitcher needs to go to Salem. He toyed with the opposition last night. Mager is also two years older and projects to be of an org. player, Asuaje looks much more interesting to me being that he has a bit more pop and has been doing what he's doing the whole season, as well as being a more versatile player on the diamond.

If Napoli gets on here Farrell damn well better send up Nava. I would have agreed, but Gomes makes up for his left field woes tonight with that knock!

You have to be impressed by Asuaje's extra base total, a 548 slg. He is listed as 5'9". Free Asuaje! Kid has played 2B, 3B, SS, and LF, can't be too hard to find him some AB's in what this year is a very uninteresting Salem lineup. 38/52 BB/K and hasn't struggled against lefties (.304/.400/.493). He isn't necessarily age-advanced but why not bump him up just to see what you have? Nothing wrong with developing versatile guys which they've clearly already started doing with him playing multiple positions, right? The power from a guy 5'9 is impressive, does SAL generally inflate power numbers? ADD: Boy, Younginer really roughed up tonight 7 ER on 7H and 3 walks in one inning. Spoiled a nice start from Haley, 6IP 3H one earned.

We've missed you, Xander. Hope to God this gives him the confidence to get things going again. Regardless of whether the team continues to play poorly we really need him to continue (get back on) his development path.

This makes some sense but I don't see it being anymore than Cherington waiting for Middlebrooks to rebuild value. I really don't see the Marlins moving Stanton unless they feel they have no chance next season. They have young players in the midst of developing and players got hurt. I can't see Cherington holding onto a player for any specific potential deals, especially if it were for a more-than-decent return. Who knows maybe there's a lot I don't know. I'm no GM just a common fan. Heyman just trying to create speculation in my mind.
