He has gone off in the Series. Still hope the Red Sox can get him as I still think he is undervalued in Los Angeles.

If the World Series shows anything, depth is key. If our recent free agent signings show anything, not all players can perform in Boston. I would not sacrifice depth from the arbitration level players unless there is a better internal option (such as possibly Swihart for Leon).

Joc Pederson has lost the confidence of Dodger fans. However,he is still young (25), not expensive (entering arbitration), and has power. At worst, he would be a less expensive option than Castillo as 4th outfielder. At best, he could re-emerge if JBJ is traded.
I would offer Brock Holt (who will be an upgrade over Ultley) and Robbie Ross Jr.

If the McAdam report is correct, the staff will be younger and bilingual, but will it be better. I am particularly not a fan of Bones. He has not helped the Mets pitchers reach their potential.

Ricky Bones was in the Mitchell Report for taking PRD’s. It would be a factor in bringing him in.

The selection of the coaching staff could be intriguing and revealing. Will Cora have free reign for his staff or will DD mix in some of his favorites? Dave Dombrowski has already stated that the new manager will basically pick his own coaching staff at the John Farrell firing press conference. Dombrowski has to approve of any hiring of coaches, but I'm sure he's not going to get in Cora's way of hiring his own staff. If Cora was going to have free reign, then what was the conversation with Jim Hickey about: chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/10/22/jim-hickey-cubs-interview-pitching-coach-job/

Living in South Florida, I follow the Marlins as well. Neither Jeter nor Sherman have publicly indicated a payroll amount. They will have their organizational meetings in the next week or so to set the level. Early indications are that the Marlins will want a shortstop and/or pitching in the trade. The Marlins may give up more talent than they receive to get payroll savings, but they will want talent that they can show to the fans. Marlins blogs that talk about trades with the Red Sox generally mention EROD, Bogaerts, and Bradley either in straight up trades or in combination. Where do you see a match?

I like the plan except for the loss of the leagues. I wonder what will become of the all star game?

While Cora seems to be an impressive person, an important aspect is that he is a minority. There were too many stories last year connecting the Red Sox with either past or present rascism for the Red Sox owners to be comfortable.

This is still a good trade for the Celtics. However, the Padres were not honest with the Red Sox and the Padres provided no additional compensation. The Celtics were transparent with the Cavs and it cost the Celtics an additional pick. Strange?

Is anyone else starting to wonder if Moncada is going down the same path as Profar where the expectations are weighing on them to the point they do not perform as they should?

Nunez and Holt together would allow the Red Sox carry another quality left handed reliever.

Bour would be an interesting fit. He is 29 and having a career year'. He is just getting into his arbitration years. One comp that I read was to Raul Ibanez. The Yanks tried trading for him but Marlins were asking a lot. The posters on the site may go crazy about the prospect cost.

It would probably take a Ben Zobrist type contract (4 years/about $52 million) to sign Nunez and I would gladly do that.

How is it stupid for BB to get quality prospects who are hurt. Law has a good take on the trade (ESPN insider subscription needed): www.espn.com/blog/keith-law/insider/post?id=7510The question is whether he is a "3" like Law believes or will he produce the same quality numbers in New York as he did in Oakland? Risky yes but not stupid

Darvish will probably be the biggest impact on the races with the Justin Wilson trade the biggest overpay.

Two top 10 prospects from a quality farm system for a LH Reliever and a Backup Catcher (who is a rental). If the cost for Reed is a top 10 prospect, I would pass.

Who would have thought that in a trade between the Yankees and the Twins that the Twins would be the team absorbing the money?

www.celticshub.com/2017/07/08/celtics-post-hayward-roster-cap-review/Good summary of where things stand and what type of things could be next. What I hadn't considered in the Crowder discussion was the idea of turning around and flipping Morris. Give what's likely available, his 2 year contract could, in theory, get you a big man version of Avery Bradley. I'm not sure how long you'd have to wait to aggregate his salary. The new cba helps in that, depending on the outgoing salary, a match is upwards of 175% + 100k. EDIT - So I just asked Ryan and he said, bc they were under the cap when the deal was made, there is no waiting period. They can combine Morris' salary immediately. Fantastic article...Thanks!! The celticshub article is excellent. However, if you plug any of the 3 bigs suggested in a straight trade for Morris into the ESPN trade machine there is no change in expected wins. If you plug Okafor into the trade machine in a straight trade for Morris, the Celtics do gain expected wins. What do people think of Okakfor.
