I wonder if playing 3000 miles closer to home means anything to him. Both LA and SF are big market teams. Bos and NY are a lot further. As I mentioned before, he'd be buried with many stars in NY. He wouldn't stand out like he wants to. So, I'm predicting either LA or Boston fits the bill. If I am right, I expect several pats on the back here. How would he not be buried with stars in LA? He would always be 2nd fiddle to Ohtani. In Boston he would be THE star of the team.

The optimist in me is thinking this...what if Yamamoto wants to sign with the Sox but is using the NY teams to get more money from them. Visit NYM and NYY and not Fenway, leak NY interest and meetings, etc to get best deal he can with the Red Sox...🤔

If the Red Sox are serious about signing him, than why not host him at Fenway? That is why the full throttle comment is so frustrating. 3rd highest valued team making hand over fist with all their other ventures and no invite to Boston when he is in the next state over...

I think the Sox are playing everything so close to the vest and don't want anything to get out. Breslow didn't let on any interest in anyone at all during the winter meetings and wouldn't even acknowledge that Yamamoto exists. Lol. Other teams are being more public with info, meetings, interest, and leaks to the media. I think this is why the mainstream reporters aren't counting the Red Sox as a more serious threat to sign him, but are making sure to mention that they are lurking and can't be ruled out

Jared Carrabis said on the "Baseball is dead" podcast yesterday that sources have told him that Red Sox preliminary offer is indeed over 300 million, possibly up to 320. Another source said that he would be surprised if the Sox signed him in the end but they are in it for sure. Jared said he didn't want to post on twitter to avoid the backlash if YY signs with another team and not get Sox fans hopes up.🤷♂️ Just another source, after Pepen and Bowden, confirming offer of over 300 million. Really the only thing that hasn't been confirmed is if he visited Fenway when he came east. Red Sox have been playing things close to the vest so who knows...

The agent is playing this perfectly. Creating a frenzy among the NY fanbase, Red Sox fans, and other teams by leaking little tidbits about each meeting. First it was Shohei was present for meeting w the Dodgers. Well of course he was! Haha. They just invested 700 million in him to be the face of the team. Then it said how the Phillies are jumping in and getting a meeting. Then leaks he had dinner w Cohen and Mets reps last night. Now meeting requested w Yankees today. Then a meeting upcoming w the Red Sox at Fenway. All of this is to get YY more comfortable with the final teams while also building up anticipation and to try to make the teams keep upping their offers. Next leak will be how much YY loved Fenway and how Yoshida wants him to come to Boston and is recruiting him hard. Then last and final offers will be submitted and he will pick his team for a staggering deal of years and money. Just hope it's the Red Sox in the end.

One of the most frustrating parts of this whole thing is that the Red Sox have the biggest need out of all these teams and are the lowest under the CBT. They should offer over or match the top offer. They are the 3rd highest valued MLB franchise and need to start acting like the other big market teams. Especially when you go to Fenway with your family and it costs hundreds of dollars. The other frustrating aspect of this whole thing is seeing other clubs hype up their fans and talk about how they are going after these top free agents and how they would help their teams and how they are meeting with them. The Sox aren't even acknowledging that Yamamoto exists. Maybe this is part of their cloak and dagger strategy and maybe it all works out in the end, but I'm not holding my breath...

Yamamoto options laid out...lets say everyone will offer 300 plus million. He reportedly would like to be in a big market and loves attention.
Mets-have to compete with Senga and always being compared to him Phillies-have a star in Harper who will always be center of attention Dodgers-second fiddle to Shohei Yankees-have Cole as their ace and Judge as the star Red Sox-one of his best friends on the team. Will be the unquestioned ace and most marketable player and center of attention
I hope ultimately he comes to the Sox to lead the rotation and to play with one of his best friends. We'll see...

I would present YY with the same offer as Garrett Cole. 9 yrs 324 with opt out after 4 years or a 36 million dollar team option to add on to the end of the deal. Tell him that NYY has their ace in Cole and we want him to be our ace at the same amount of money.

Marino Pepen says the Red Sox will have the last meeting with Yamamoto as part of their strategy. Hopefully this works and they seal the deal.

First time I've seen video of Davis. His swing reminds me of Mark McGwire. Anyone else see the same thing?

I saw an idea on another Sox board. Red Sox could be looking at JBJ and a 2B like Wong. Sign one or the other. Offer them similar money and have Kiké play the other position. Wong and JBJ have similar offensive stats and are both elite defensively. It's an interesting idea

Profar has played mostly IF and has hit 20, 20 and 7 HRs as a switch hitter for Texas and Oakland the last 3 yrs. Keke Hernandez has hit 20, 17 and 5 HRs as a RH hitter and can play all over the diamond and OF. He is going to get a similar deal. Profar is over a yr younger. I would expect around 3 yrs 18 for Keke

With all the talk from Bloom about building for now and the future, I don't think the Sox will be interested in Kluber unless it's a team friendly deal w a team option. He seems to be more interested in younger players who can be controlled for multiple years

Hand went unclaimed by every team and Indians just paid his million dollar buyout. Also let Carlos Santana, Domingo Santana go on top of Hand. Going to be a crazy market with a bunch of players signing fast to get what they can and probably a bunch if 1 yr deals.

That WEEI article also confirms what most of us thought, that the players agree to a number to sign at before getting picked by the team. Article says that the Sox called Drohan a few picks ahead of their pick on the clock and he accepted their number before being picked

I know Keith Law can be hard-headed with his views and opinions but I kind of agree with him here. I think the Red Sox really liked Yorke and reached for him. PCA or Mitchell at 17 and then getting Yorke or Blaze Jordan in the 3rd would have been the better play. Then they could have just gone cheap in rounds 4 and 5. Mitchell and PCA both play an outstanding CF and are a lot more advanced than Jordan. Blaze Jordan may become a star but he is a lot riskier and less proven than both Mitchell and PCA. I know ppl say trust the scouts and most of us haven't seen these guys play, but there is no way 4 different scouting sites can all be wrong by rating Mitchell and PCA so high and Yorke up around 100 or so. Now hopefully we snag a couple good seniors and hope the Sox develop these guys to become major leaguers. I'll be following Blaze Jordan and rooting for him to succeed and become a star.
