I don't know, he won 90+ games 5 times in his 1st 9 seasons with the Twins. It ended poorly but there must have been a talent drop off

Gardenhire, Cora and Dave Martinez all seem solid. The latter two are pretty green though and this is a pressure cooker.
Gardy would be my choice

Congratulations to the Greenville Drive, they had an awesome year. Looking forward a healthy season from Dalbec. Netser can really handle a bat, looking forward to seeing how he progresses. I wish he could play passing SS. Hoping Groome throws 120+ Inn. I'm in Albany NY visiting family and missed the final as a result. I thought the season would be over, I'm backing my trip up next yr Out of curiosity, based on your wording, do you think Netser is likely to be able to play decent second base or are you only saying you wish he was a shortstop for player value reasons ? Player value reasons. Being a college senior, he's obviously old for the level but he can handle the bat, a lot of hard contact to left and left center. With current approach he could be a 280 hitter with 8-12 HR. If he could play passable SS that would give him a utility floor but the rep was bat 1st 2nd base. So I like the profile a lot less I didn't get a great read on the defense but the rep was a bat 1st 2B. If he could play passable SS that would open up the

Some great bars and lots of good eateries around. I still try to get home every year.

I've seen quite a bit of Kannapolis this year, the last look was just 2 weeks ago. There top end pitchers have all been promoted: Alec Hansen, Dane Dunning and Bernardo Flores. The lineup is long though, they're led by recent draftees: 1st rounder (3B) Jake Burger and 2nd rounder (1B) Gavin Sheets. Also Blake Rutherford who's been a bit of a disappointment so far but he can handle the bat. Joel Booker, Luis Gonzalez and Mitch Roman are all solid as well.
Greenville has the better pitching but Kanny can score. Should be a fun series I have a 6 pack of premium beer riding on a Greenville win

I took a run down to Fluor for the big game, I'll be around with some updates and with everything I just said, we'd be very curious if you had any scouting thoughts while watching him yesterday! I didn't have my gun with me and wasn't really studying him but the stadium gun mostly read 89-91. He pounds the zone with a 3 pitch mix. No real put away pitch though. Both secondaries we're about average. Fastball command looks to be a strength.

After Charleston got the 1st 2 on to start the top of the 8th Greenville turned to Joan Martinez. He's electric at 96-97. He gets them out of it. 2-0 Drive bottom 8

The Drive solved Nick Green in the bottom of the 6th pushing across 2 runs and having another runner cut down at home plate.
Netzer can really handle the bat, an RBI single to RC after a lengthy at bat and at least a 1/2 dozen, 2 strike foul balls

Castellanos is really struggling in LF tonight, already 1 error could have just had a second but it was ruled a double

0-0 mid 5 in Greenville, Charleston nearly pushed across a run in the 4th after a hit and an error. A liner back to the box resulted in a bang bang play at the plate.
The drive are still looking for there 1st hit

Netzer swings hard, Baldwin with a shot to RC that I thought might split the OF's. RF Gilliam made a nice play

There's a post on the subject in the midseason rankings thread. To be fair, I think he posted his first. That said, there's no reason why any poster should feel like they shouldn't start a thread - I've never understood "someone should start a thread on this..." and the like. If it belongs in another thread, the mods can move it, but it's not like the original poster is in trouble or anything. Thanks, I get that, it's a message board. I literally had one foot out the door when I saw the post I guess I could have dropped it and ran but I feel like I would have had to write something. Haha

I think Mazz might be on to something.
I wouldn't be so quick to run Hanley out of town. He carried this team in the 2nd half last yr. I like the idea of DL ing him to try to get his swing right though.

The video was published on April 1, so it's definitely from spring training. If I may say so... that video definitely squares with our scouting report, not what Crockett's telling Alex. That is not a short-to-the-ball swing and he was fooled on all three pitches. Like I said - I'm not saying Crockett's a liar or anything, but just that if what he's saying is true, Castellanos has done a lot of development during extended. We saw the before, it would be great to see an after video from instructs
