Mike Antonellis @seadogsradio 1m1 minute ago Andrew Benintendi making the start in LF tonight. His first as a professional. Great, so we trade away young Pedro, and now have to admit that Benintendi is a lumbering corner outfielder, not a centerfielder.

Kopech drills the first batter. That's gotta hurt at 130 mph. second batter doubles him in Why are the Marlins transitioning Guaimaro to catcher? we had him in center.

Can we lock this thread? I don't want to improve the Sox anymore by doing anything but being patient with our prospects. It has been a rough 8 months for this prospect site, with several items coming together to greatly reduce the Soxs' prospects. One positive, of course, is the graduation of prospects to the Sox -- the Bs, Swihart, etc. However, that wave was a function of uncapped drafts up to the 2011 draft, and thereafter benefitted from the Soxs' last place finishes in 2012, 14 and 15, that yielded a couple of premium picks in the capped drafts -- Benintendi and now Groome being prime examples, Ball, not so much. The cap has, however, cut into any depth from those drafts. In addition to the wave, we now have DD's fixes. As a result of trades and otherwise, the last 8 months resulted in the losses of: 1.Espinoza 2.Margot 3.Guerra 4.Allen 5.Asuaje 6.Guaimado 7.Muzzioti 8.Basabe 9.Acosta (suspended) 10.Almonte 11.ability to sign IFAs 16-17 As a result, we really had a great top 5, but a big drop thereafter, and the site's top 60 was looking rather mangy on the back end (more so than I remember). Going forward, has DD considered this talent drain necessary to address short term needs that are now stabilized? We are locked in to 4 starters, and have a couple of relievers, and have a lot of cost controlled fielders. In theory, there will be a big hole at DH next year, but this can be addressed in the offseason, hopefully without trading top talent. On the overall inflow vs. outflow, the draft cap now limits the ability to get more than one prospect each year. Plus, with the "top 15" draft picks now no longer available (hopefully), they may chose to get 2 good prospects rather than one great prospect (like Groome this year). In theory, they can do the "Espinoza/Acosta" all-in for the 17-18 IFA year, and get 5 top IFAs, at the expense of signing others in 18-20. Sorry about this rambling musing, but I just wonder whether there is any reason to believe the Soxs' prospect pool will even remain stable, rather than shrinking. I suspect we will fall into the standard MLB model, with a top 10 list of just a couple of real prospects, and a couple more hopes, filling out 20 ranks, and very few teams having a 60 list.

So remind me, does Trey's stroke have gap power, or is he more of a slasher?

I'd expect o'brien to know the game more than just cheering a ground rule double, instead of immediately noting the bad break.

Good o'Sullivan inning. One pitching out, two outs on base paths.

I'm guessing that a team offering a player 600k, only to lose him to the Sox for 300k may pass that info along to MLB.

I'm OK with your statement........It has to be something though.....There's no injury documentation. If it's a Brian Johnson type thing, I'm ok with that. As a RS fan, I am curious as to what it is. It's not like he got a $10k signing bonus. Invite the higher ups on the site out for drinks and ask them. Sure, just because Chris Hatfield is Irish, drinking will get the truth out of him. Does the stereotyping never stop?

Is that really a win for the agent representing the consensus #1 pick? I don't know if the agent needs a win, but as a newbe, he may be looking for more to show future clients.

You are probably right. But wait one more year. Young Trey is growing and getting stronger as we speak. What's that? Trey has added 2 mph to his 4 seamer. Lets give the kid 2016 and then we reconvene. Where are you getting that he added 2mph on his fastball? Because when drafted three years ago he www.baseballamerica.com/draft-preview/And obviously he is now at 93-96

That's the Buchholz effect. Just like starting a fastballer after a knucker makes it look faster, starting any pitcher right after Buchholz makes them seem smarter, more composed and more competent.
