Good series for draft pitching starts tonight on espn U South Carolina Vs Florida. Tonight is two probable top 50 picks with Will Sanders and Brandon Sproat. Friday has Carolina’s Jack Mahoney who could be a top 5 round guy vs Hurston Waldrep who could be gone by the time pick. Mahoney looked pretty good against Georgia.

Hoping for the best obviously, but I’d be surprised if Yorke is ready for AA. Really??? I am curious why you think this?

Is Gavin casas of South Carolina related to our first baseman? Gavin is up to 12 taters on the season for the gamecocks including 2 taters today.

Casas has looked good in camp BUT...... Can he hit left handed pitching in the majors in 2023?

I saw a few games at Portland and Niko was late on a lot of swings of pitches in the strike zone.

Rafaela is definitely a good defensive outfielder, but I’d have him at least a half tick behind JBJ. JBJ had the best routes/instincts of any outfielder in recent memory, and “perennial gold glove contender” is a high bar. Seems like Bradley was moving before the ball left the bat sometimes. His instincts were off the charts.

Saw him play for Greenville in Winston-Salem this summer. He impressed, perhaps his team's best offensive player. He was a high draft pick, so there must have been something Boston saw in him. He's still pretty young, so I wonder where management views him. For example, if not for Mayer, where would he rank? Could he be a utility guy? Where would that leave Jeter or, possibly Yorke? Could one of them play outfield? I think I saw him playing 3rd base a few times this year.

But if Martinez actually does believe Bello is a more advanced 23-year-old, that certainly speaks to the optimism being warranted.
“He’s really up there in talent,” Martinez added, comparing Bello to Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz in the process.
“It’s really difficult to judge the talent, but without a doubt, he has the tools to become a Jon Lester, to become a Pedro Martinez, to become a Clay Buchholz, someone like that, that wasn’t that impressive early in their career with the Boston Red Sox. He has a very bright future.
Some might scoff at the Buchholz comparison, but it’s actually pretty apt. Buchholz was great in his first taste of the big leagues in 2007 — he threw a no-hitter — in just four starts. He got knocked around in 2008, though, but rebounded nicely. It’s easy to forget given how frustrating Buchholz could be over the course of his career, that he went on to win 68 games from 2009 through 2015 with a 3.67 ERA in 149 starts at the big league level.
If that’s the floor and the ceiling is Lester or, heaven forbid, Martinez, the Red Sox should feel quite good about having Bello in the fold for years to come.nesn.com/2022/10/next-pedro-martinez-hofer-gives-brayan-bello-highest-of-praise/How Bello didn't end up with an 8 ceiling is beyond my comprehension. Baseball is a game of adjustments. Hitters will make the adjustment to Bello by next season. How will Bello respond?

I was joking, you've been the biggest Jeter fan since the days of the covid year band camp. Yorke had a strange year health wise so I'm not making much of the entire year. He's still a hitter though and I'm pretty much as high on him as last year but, others have passed him. He's a better defender than I thought he'd be. For whatever reason, he reminds me of Ian Kinsler and that's a good thing. Eh, you'll want to check out our report from camp this year. Was definitely not his biggest fan then. Agreed on Yorke with the caveat that he wasn't hitting pre-injury either. Easy to imagine, though, that he starts slow, gets hurt, then never really recovers, when he may have gotten his feet under him otherwise. Wasn’t yorke one of the youngest players at the start of the season? I would think an adjustment period is expected.

Kavadas with his 100th walk this season today! Greek God of Walks or Chicken Man/Boggs Jr. Has Boston ever had a minor league player play at 3 levels, hit 25 taters and walk 100 times in a season before?

Rafaela’s K% Splts: In High A 24.4% In AA 19.1% The strides he’s making with the bat are remarkable. He gets my vote for Red Sox minor league position player of the year. 20 taters and 20 steals and defensive excellence. Does he start next year at Worcester?

I think Rafaela’s outfield defense is second best to Bradley as far as I have seen live!

Why does Castellanos never get mentioned as a possible call up? Seems to hit well no matter the level. Castellaneous starting out 3 for 3 today.

Hickey has played 80 games to the tune of a 161 wRC+ this year at age 22. Silently insanely good, but he doesn’t play every day and he’s a college draftee so it’s hard to gauge him precisely. Definitely intriguing though Seems to have a good eye for the strike zone as he walks a good bit. It’s not bonaci or Kavadas prolific, but very close!

Pate Abraham also said one of Cora or Bloom will more than likely get fired after this season if they don't make the playoffs. ' Seems kind of harsh when you consider all the injuries we have had this season. Four starters missing a month of the season.
