Think this is the week where our long national nightmare ends... Marcelo Mayer will hit his first official professional HR

SSS but starting to look more and more like Rafaela is a top 10 guy in the system (maybe higher?). Reviews of his defense are intoxicating and the start with the bat is unreal.

It's an organizational failure if they don't sign Devers long-term. Full stop.

Point #3 seems pretty relevant considering what the current pen arms have mostly looked like...

Feels like this series is going to have a million runs and a few 5 hour games. Buckle up.

I just don't like how much he has tinkered with his swing in the short time he has been in MLB. The lowered hands allowed him to tap into his raw power with more loft in his swing.
To Radiohix's point, he isn't really playable unless he's tapping into his power if he is going to run 25-30% k-rates. It's rare he squares one up to the pull side right now.

Jeter Downs seems like he needs some time away or something. Maybe an IL stint to just re-group, come back in sept. and try to end the season strong. It's been rough.

The power has come raging back in the last month though. A few homers with Portland before this very good showing with Team USA. Worked a nice AB against Tanaka too... Arrow up!

Looking for Xander to find his power stroke again. Couple dingers coming in this series against all the lefties.

So about a week or so into Duran's big league career, and I think it's been a mixed bag. He clearly has the ability to square up and drive the ball, and his speed is a game changing trait on the bases.
However, will be interesting to see how he's able to cut down on the swing and miss (38% K rate right now). What's everyone's initial reactions to Duran in Boston??

Law has never really quit on Groome since he was drafted.

Maybe because we were picking in the top 5, but it's very rare that this board is unanimously happy. Very excited to begin following young Marcelo's development.

Would be surprised if the mid-atlantic teams got their games in today. Not looking great for the northeast teams either.

Definitely recommend listening to Ian and Chris talk about Groome on the latest pod! The changeup usage is a pretty big deal. It's cool to hear about him working to improve after a tough few years.

Just thinking out loud here, but combining Houck and Sale down the stretch seems like a nightmare for managers putting a lineup together. Cross-fire guys who are death on the opposite handedness? Intriguing combo while building up Sale's strength.

I expect nothing from Richards. Honestly, more concerned about Pivetta. Other than the outing against the Rays he has not been very good for a bit now.

Despite the end result, sending him out for the 8th was malpractice. Earlier in the broadcast they were talking about how Al Leiter threw 140 pitches in a world series game, and that Jack would never come close to that... Alas he was too close for comfort!
He's a stud though. Some refinement of the secondaries and he could be a real force.

I hadn't noticed until a few posters noted his GB% has gone up, but Casas only has 4 home runs this year and hasn't hit one in June (only 3 XBH this month too). I still assume that much of this is SSS noise, but I will be watching this more closely.
Ironic that this potential flaw in his profile comes as he was being upgraded tools/rankings-wise by certain publications.

The opposite field power starting to show up is enticing. If he finds consistency over the next couple weeks, you have to bring him up to see if he's an answer prior to the trade deadline.

Man this thread was a fun follow at one point. Think the board needs the draft to come pretty badly.
Anyway, as a novice draft follower, who are some rd2 and beyond prospects to look into? I'm pretty familiar with the names at the top at this point.

I liked the (albeit small) show of emotion from Groome as he got out of that last inning. One of the things (was it Abbott?) said about him at the alt site was they wanted to see him compete, even in bullpen sessions. He's going to have to battle to reach his potential.
Positive steps lately.
