If there is a chance of getting Williamson for Peavy, then I would do the trade immediately. While there is risk, he is more than I would suspect we get back for Peavy. I fall in that middle ground between those who say we should give up Peavy for nothing and those who are shooting for the moon.

In an article on Espin.com (insider), Jim Bowden suggests a trade of Lee to the Yankees for Judge and Severino. Who are the equivalent players for the Red Sox?

Would paying $45 to $50 million to Lester and Lee prevent the Red Sox from adding offense? Would adding Lee lose Lester? If either answer is yes, then I would pass.

Scott Van Slyke would be a good platoon partner for Nava. Top 20 in WAR among outfielders and can be has for a reasonable return.

If you evaluate Peavy on his 2014 fip, then he has no value to either the Red Sox or acquiring team. If you feel as I do that Peavy has returned to his form from last year then he has value. If the teams seeking him do not meet this value, then I believe you keep Peavy.

Mgoetze, it is okay to disagree weigh my point of view, but do not distort my words. The quality and professional approach will be valuable for the young pitchers to observe. Those qualities should be properly valued.

If the Red Sox can get quality prospects for Peavy, I would understand the sense of trading Peavy. I do not understand the logic of trading Peavy for fringe prospects. He is pitching too well with his last three quality starts. The younger pitchers will still have their opportunities to develop with normal course of injuries.

While the Red Sox need more power hitters throughout the organization (which organization could not), what other weakneseses should the Red Sox look to fill with upcoming trades?

While I understand how the Pirates and Brewers match well with the Red Sox, who could the Angels trade?

Is Brock Holt a long term keeper or someone that the Red Sox trade now at maximum value?

I am surprised that the Yankees did a trade where the Diamondbacks picked up a size able portion of the contract. Does this contract split signify anything?

Price will bring a haul regardless. It would be better if he ends up in the NL.

Given the fact that the A"s could not close the deal for Price, Lester becomes even more valuable. Add in the postseason success, Lester will be able to generate an organizational redefining return.

Lester is the equivalent or better.to CC when he was traded to the Brewers. As with CC, Lester should net a top 25 prospect plus more.

The only contender that can still make that scope of trade is the Cardinals. Could Taveras be available?

It will be interesting to see if the Mariner's and Angels counter. The Angels could be a good fit with the Red Sox.

Is the excitement for the selections based on value or the fact that the Red Sox did not reach for college bats as many feared before the draft?

Usually, this time of year you hear about some top high school players dropping because of financial considerations. I have not really come across any stories along these lines. Have others heard about high school players that the Red six might be able to grab later in the grab because of financial reasons?

On Espn.com, Christopher Crawford wrote "If Fisher comes back and continues to hit, it's not unreasonable to expect him to go somewhere on day one, maybe to a team with an extra pick like the Boston Red Sox or Miami Marlins. " I would think that Fisher would be an excellent fit for the Red Sox organization .

At this point the Sox should have plenty of payroll flexibility for the trade deadline. There is no need to trade Dempster. With so many free agent starters still out there, you aren't getting much for him anyways. Wait till spring training however, and you might get a team like the Mets interested. I agree that waiting until spring training makes sense. First, an injury will create more opportunities. Second, the Red Sox need to get a better understanding if Bradley is ready.

The starting pitching ranking by Olney was awful. He had the following 5 to 9... Pirates As Rangers Braves Reds None of the above teams have a number 1 starter and each of those teams have major question marks in their respective rotations. The Red Sox and Rats have better starting rotations then each of the above teams. The primary issue of the list is that it is premature with a number of quality starters available either as free agents or via trade. However, Darvish is a number 1. Cole and Cueto are potential number 1s. Braves and As have multiple young pitchers who can emerge.

It was a fair piece. He had the Sox as honorable mention with "Buckholz looming as a pivotal X factor." Olney indicates Rays will fall out of top 10 if Price is traded.

Casey Stern made the comment that he felt the Red Sox have not been active enough and that will cost the team. He did not feel resigning Drew would be suffcient. BC has earned trust. Do you feel the team is done making major moves this offseason?
