I think Storen would have been a good target for the Red Sox, but the Nats are unlikely to keep Paps so they will probably keep Storen.

The Royals will probably not tender Greg Holland due to a combination of cost, injury, and alternatives. Would you take a flyer on him on an incentive laden contract?

Good citatis. I was thinking about Lackey comparison. I am now convinced the Red Sox should stay away from Latos.

Worth it on an incentive laden contract for 2 years.

I like your list for the rotation as it makes sense. I have a feeling Toronto will reup Price. I think the Red Sox match well in a trade with the Mets, and I think Mets fans have turned on Harvey. It would be a painful get but I think it will happen.

While I like McCracken and see him possibly being hired in the role DD had Littlefield in Detroit (Vice President Player Development), it is more than a coincidence that McCracken is the only name who has been floated as actually being interviewed.

In terms of your question between Miley and Hamels, there is no doubt the Red Sox would be better off with Hamels and his contract.

Is this a minority interview or do you believe the Red Sox have genuine interest in McCracken?

Yesterday was a best case scenario. The Red Sox have a confidence building but maintains position for a protected pick with wins from the White Sox and Diamondbacks.

While I understand the need and desire to have power arms in the bullpen, I think that Darren O'Day would be an excellent addition both as a disruptive force and a good leader.

Sandoval may be moved but it may be in a swap for bad contracts? Which bad contract would you want - Votto, Shields, someone else?

I am wondering what the chances are of retaining Hazen as GM and bringing on a prominent outsider as either Vice President, Baseball Development (Littlefield'ti title with the Tigers) or Senior Vice President, Baseball Operations (similar to Watson's title with the Diamondbacks) with both people reporting directly to DD.

Votto is not Papi. Would Votto's financial obligations restrict the ability for the Red Sox to upgrade the starting pitching?

Votto's contract might be the most concerning in baseball with it running until he is 40.

Do you believe the Reds would trade Chapman without tying Phillips or Votto to him? This would dramatically affect whether the Red Sox would chase Chapman.

I frequently see Carrasco lumped with Archer, Sale, and Gray as targets. I am probably undervaluing Carrasco but does he really fit into the same category as the others. I do not see how a Margot led package would net Sale, Archer, or Gray. However, Cleveland could trade Carrasco for such a package.

To understand what this suggests for the future, I wonder how this trade as finalized compares to what Cherington was seeking. Seems to be a solid return but not an overpay that would force the trade to wait until deadline.

I don't want to take this thread towards trade proposals. However, I would like to understand Swihart's value. Would he be available in a Sonny Gray or Chris Sale trade? Would people include him in for a lower level pitcher such as Carrasco? Or is he completely untouchable?

Moncada should fare well. Like many, I wonder where he will play in 2 years. Is there a scouting report available for Carlos Mesa?

The Keith Law rankings of the farm systems is an interesting article. The top 5 are the Cubs, Twins, Astros, Mets, and Red.Sox. I think a case could be made that the Red Sox have a stronger group and deeper group than the Astros and Mets.

The value seems to be reasonable, but since Ross has options I would prefer to have him start in minors. Ross will be able to find what was missing last year. Plus, the team can start year with 11 pitchers.

Is there a decent chance that the Red Sox start the year with 11 pitchers and 14 position players to ensure Craig and Victorino are healthy?
