Fire Dombrowski now. First the garbage trade today that sandwiched two Franchise crippling deals with SD and CWS.

Love the Boston Bruins? That'll be you future Red Sox! Yep. We just traded Seguin for Loui all over again.

@joelsherman1: Keep in mind there's no more decisive exec than Dombrowski. When he decides he wants something he is aggressive with $/prospects #redsox This sums it up perfectly Fire DD now! He's going to do something really flipping dumb

Ken_Rosenthal Source confirms: #RedSox strongly in mix for Mitch Moreland. Eh. I would rather them roll with what they have and just season Moncada for half a season in AAA. Moreland is a lefty, but he will just take up room. Give the job to multiple players and rotate days off. Devers and Moncada are the future at 1st and 3rd unless of course Anibal Sanchez rebounds somewhat. Then we all know what Dombrowski will do. Trade both for him of course.

Why? KLaw makes nonsensical arguments all the time. He didn't like the Espinoza deal because Stevie Wonder could see it was a horrendous deal. Trade a future front of the rotation guy for a JAG.

The Sox just traded for 3 years of a Miller-esque reliever for a deal headlined by 1a and 1b Travis Shaw and Dubon. Thornburg was a minor league starter, he can definitely pitch multiple innings. 12+k/9, increased velocity, what's not to like? There's no way this isn't a win for the Sox. Dubon is blocked literally everywhere and this is a huge sell high for the Sox. I don't think he'll ever be a starter. Shaw had no place on the Sox and would have been pushed even further down the depth chart next year when Moncada returned. Milwuakee is now on the 3rd failed Sox 3rd baseman. He had one good year. Where do you get Miller-esque from? Massive massive overpay.

This is an awful deal. How do you get fleeced by Milwaukee? Thornburg has one good year and you give up the a top 10 prospect an intriguing young pitcher AND your starting 3B that could be a 20-25 home run guy in his prime. Bring back Ben! Stop gutting this farm. Unbelievable this organization had a great farm system now it's probably around the 17-20 mark. Awful job keeping the pipeline going.
Hell, maybe if Dumb Dave didn't give away a future front line starter for damaged goods in July he could have included Espinoza in this deal as well...
We need to protest outside Fenway until ownership understands how we feel as the consumers of this product. The product sucks right now and it's only going to get worse as DD sends this organization down the road of the Tigers and Phillies.

I think most of the clubhouse stuff is overblown with him. Sure, he's a dickhead, and so is Harper, which is probably the main reason for that incident. The fans in Philly suck and so did his team. He sounds willing to return here in whatever capacity, which makes me think he's less likely to act out like he did when he was frustrated in Philly. He'll never be an alter boy, but I don't remember him ever having any significant clubhouse issues when he was here before. Papelbon sucks and I hate he's a trump supporter. It means that he supports the 2nd and deportation and a bunch of other things. I can't get behind this addition.

Why the hell aren't they seeking a remedy... Because DD is awful at his job. He needs to push to get both trades reversed. I'm pretty sure the Padres knew Kimbrel was damaged goods. Same with Pomeranz.

Well if Hanley is banged up hopefully they just put him on the DL so we can finally see the arrival of Moncada! Move him to 3rd and Shaw to first. That would be exciting. The team isn't going anywhere so why not see what you have?

Its about time AJ Preller gets what he deserved. He is getting so greedy he is trading unhealthy players for prospects. He is trying to burn the entire MLB. Still trade raped the Red Sox twice in 12 months. Owns Dave.

Espinoza last night for Fort Wayne Tin Caps: 5 IP. 3H. 0R. 2BB. 4K. No decision. Can't the Sox make up an injury for Pomeranz and have the Padres make the trade back? Such a steal for SD.

Bob Nightengale @bnightengale 1 min. The Boston #RedSox had late-night talks with the #WhiteSox about Chris Sale. If Sale is moved, #RedSox and #Dodgers are likely destinations. Please let this rumor die. This system can not afford to take another big hit.

“@jaysonst: Red Sox pursuit of Chris Sale or some other high-end starter has struck out so far. Telling people not optimistic they can do something big” Thank god. Especially after what the Yankees have done this week it's as important as ever to have a strong farm system. Them getting Frazier scares the crap out of me.

If he trades AB I'm done. Sale has an awful delivery. He's an injury waiting to happen. AB is the real deal. I hated Esponiza for Pomeranz deal, but if you hate Chris Sale for Benintendi (let's just assume it's 1 for 1 for now), then who the heck do you want? I view "AB" as a really good talent that you won't miss if packaged in the right deal. Moncada and Espinoza on the other hand.... What do I want? I want 6 years of a cost controlled asset and an allstar outfield for the next half decade. The Sox don't need to compete with the Yankees. Stop accumulating other teams stars and just build a homegrown powerhouse.

“@philgrogers: Can say @whitesox love redsox CF Andrew Benintendi. He could be the front man in a multi-player Chris Sale trade if talks progress.” If he trades AB I'm done. Sale has an awful delivery. He's an injury waiting to happen. AB is the real deal.

I'm all for second chances, but I'm very glad I root for a team that backed away from trading for a domestic abuser when they found out about it. If the guy has talent and has no other indiscretions then why wouldn't you take a chance on the cheap. This is what really good teams do. Now because the Yankees made a brilliant move and got Chapman for nothing they now will have a better system than the Red Sox once Moncada and AB graduate. Maybe after only one does.

The guy is one of the top prospects in all of baseball. Absolutely could have been a centerpiece to get a pitcher. Maybe this team still has Espinoza. But we won't know because our overzealous GM blew his load in the offseason. I wish this team was getting the haul the MFY are getting back for Chapman. Who would have came dirt cheap after the whole domestic violence thing and is better than Kimbrel anyways. Um, yeah. Deservedly so. No one I want on the Sox. Much different and worse than, say, cutting up unis, getting popped for pot or getting caught with PEDs, IMHO. Sure. But I would have rather the team continued with giving Chapman a 2nd chance rather than give up the haul they did for an inferior pitcher like Kimbrel. He made a mistake he did his "time" and took his punishment. This isn't Greg Hardy throwing his girl on a couch full of guns. I'd rather give Chapman a 2nd chance than rebuild an entire farm system with one trade.

Margot for Kimbrel alone would be a big win for the Padres. Guerra hasn't been good but Allen has been solid. You gave up 6 years of control of a probable future all star outfielder. They could have used Margot to get a starter or held him. Instead Dumb Dave decided to single handedly restock the Padres system. If that was true they would have done it. Stop assuming it's true. Liking this trade more and more. I know there were some reservations because Ziegler isn't a big strikeout guy and pitches to contact. This is true. But from what I've seen the contact he pitches to is usually very weak... I like the deal but it makes me hate the Kimbrel deal even more. Dumb Dave didn't need to pay that much for him. Just get a bunch of arms then make a move like this.

Did the Red Sox Really Overpay for Drew Pomeranz? by Dave Cameron - July 19, 2016 www.fangraphs.com/blogs/did-the-red-sox-really-overpay-for-drew-pomeranz/depends on assumptions some of you will question, but: "To me, this looks like the Red Sox and Padres identified the prospect in Boston’s system that was worth something very close to what Pomeranz is worth, and settled on a reasonable swap that makes sense for both sides. This one doesn’t look like Dombrowski undervaluing prospects to me; Espinoza is fun to dream on, but when factoring his risks in, he’s probably not as valuable as his “#15 ovearll prospect” status makes him sound. He’s a good get for the Padres, who should be betting on upside, but this is the kind of prospect that the Red Sox could afford to move. And for Pomeranz, this looks like the right return for both sides." Well...4 "tremendous innings" way to go Dave! This guy is worse than Buchholz. At least in his last start he "only" allowed 3. We should beg Preller to at least get Logan Allen back as compensation for both trade heists.

This trade is going to look much worse tomorrow when that scrub Pomeranz gets bombed. Can't wait. The Padres got their future ace. Very bright future for him. Never trade someone that a real pitcher like Pedro says is the next big thing. You sound more ridiculous with every passing day. We get it, you despise the trade and think DD should be fired. We don't need to hear about on every page of this thread. And wishing for Pomeranz to get bombed is just low. It's not wishing. I actually hope he does well. At the end of the day I'm still a Sox fan. But I try and take a long term look at things. Long term this is a borderline crippling trade especially when you take into consideration the Sox haven't been able to develop a home grown SP since Buchholz then you trade Logan Allen and Espinoza in the same season to the same team. It's absolutely awful. The Sox without Moncanda and AB would be reduced to a top 20 farm system already. Dumb Dave doesn't know anything about prospects and their value to a team. There is a reason he was fired in Detroit folks!!
