Reed, a surprise pick up in the MiLB Rule 5, has really made the best of his opportunity. Like his comment on the RS org. where it lets its prospects play and enjoy the game. I see him as a future DH as he has limited athletic ability. Look forward to his prospect ranking in the next evaluation period.

I’ll start worrying about Downs if he’s struggling in Worcester next season. I expected struggles this season .....that is, if he gets promoted to Worcester. Unless he improves he may be better off staying back a grade given his youth.

On an evening honoring the great #44, Hank Aaron, it's a shame to be doing it in Denver. Poor Mrs. Aaron who had to travel so far for the ceremony.
Good performances from our Sox representatives.

Obvious Ohtani is the poster boy for the occasion. And rightfully so.

I wouldn't be too concerned with whom are selected by the teams above. One of Meyer, Davis, Leiter and Lawler will be available and make us happy.

If Workman keeps this up perhaps Bloom can trade him at the deadline for a starter and pitching prospect?

Entry Draft almost upon us. Exciting to be picking so high and have a wide range of quality talent available. Hoping Leiter is there for us at#4. It's been a while since we developed a top pitcher (Buccholz?). If not, Davis best hitter in the draft, fills a future need.

I don't see any immediate need to move Duran up now. With Kiki taking over in CF and showing strong at the plate the team is winning. To maybe tweak the OF I give Franchy another shot. The guy has been amazing in Worcester. Franchy Corderoâs path to the majors would seem to be at frost base. That slot is such a black hole right now, so it makes sense they are working him out there. Using Verdungo and Renfroe a platoon, with Duran , and Kiké and in the other positions, would seem to be the best lineup. If Duran is called up, I hope it's not for a platoon. He needs to be in the lineup on a regular basis. If anyone is platooned it should be Cordero. Before the start of the season I was in favor of a Renfroe platoon. But seeing him on a daily basis and what he's accomplished thus far this season, he is vital to the team's success, on both sides of the ball.

Looking ahead, the team is off on Thursday for travel. Play Phillies series starting Friday. That is Richards turn in the rotation. But Pivetta will have had four days rest. Interesting to see how Cora aligns his pitching staff for the last series before ASB.

AMAZING... where are they key board warriors that spend the time criticizing this team, they are so knowledge that they are now hiding under the bed. Wait soon. they will be criticizing Cora, because they know better. LETS GO RED SOX Criticism is what we fans do best. Why, if we were complacent and poured nothing but accolades on our heroes, how would they get motivated to perform above their abilities?

To be fair Richards did make a significant adjustment to his motion and pitch selection and was scoreless for 3+ innings after his last disastrous start. There's always hope.

Skipping Richards’ turn this time around would be best for the team. And start who?? D. Hernandez followed by Whitlock?

Is part of the reason for not calling up Duran the possibility of burning a year on his FA status? I don't recall how many games have to be played before he would reach that deadline. Anyway it seems like the FO has a plan for him until September.

The video on Redsox.com includes an announcement that the RS are waiving the waiting period for induction into the team HOF, but has nothing about a number retirement. If they were retiring his number, they'd show the canvas being lifted from the RF grandstand and his number displayed up there. They also would have had the other retired number guys there. I think Pedro was the only one who attended. Papi did a video tribute. Super-cool snippet on the video: Pedro walking in from LF escorting Luis Tiant. The RS have erred in not retiring No. 23 for Luis and 24 for Dewey. And when you have a few hours to hear me talk non-stop, I'll explain all the reasons Luis shouold be in Cooperstown. Look him up and see where his WAR would place him among HOF P's. It's not a close call. Totally agree on Dwight Evans' 24 and Luis Tiant's 23. I would also add 3 for Jimmie Foxx as well and you make a case for Lefty Grove's 10. I would consider 7 for Dom DiMaggio who like Pedroia was borderline HOF but had his career shortened by war and injury and I would consider 5 for Nomar. 21 first Clemens of course. Not sure what they do with Tek's 33 and Wake's 49. Those numbers won't be reissued any time soon. Not a big fan of retiring numbers. Someday in the distant future there will be three digit numbers. Raise the retirees former number to the rafters but allow worthy successors to wear it. Toronto Maple Leafs do it and have had no problems. I would make very few exception, though, such as #s 8 and 9.

To have Leiter, Davis, Watson, House all potentially around at #4 would be neurvana. OF Will Taylor the 6'0 QB/wrestler from SC -Clem- made quite a jump to #9. Hopefully none of those guys is taking that brain medicine. Free and clear of PEDs. Good position to be in with such highly rated top 4.

Kumar was dominant today vs NC State in the College WS. Constantly around the plate with outstanding velocity. Reminded me of Bob Gibson in his prime.

Pedroia was one of the first professional athletes I ever interviewed, and certainly the first prominent one as a top prospect in Pawtucket (in Lowell, I'd mostly talked to the guys I'd needed to for the gamer, although the first one I interviewed, RJ "The Great Rock and Roll" Swindle, did get a cup of coffee in the bigs). He was injured at the time (wrist I think?) and was clearly very, very sick of being asked about it. Ornery in a way that was kind of relatable - not as in "what a dick" but more "man he's sick of talking about that." Certainly part of the attitude that led to him being successful. I really hope he does TV at some point. I think he'd be really good. Better still, on the field showing younger players how to play the game.

Best RS second baseman in my lifetime. And his stats bear this out. A dirt dog who loved the game and always was the first guy at the Park.
A story I recall was the start of his second season after he'd won Rookie of the Year. Reporter asked what he was going to do for his second season and he replied: "Going to win rookie of the year again".

Noteworthy performance by Brandon Walter gainig the win for Salem over Delmarva. He's at 1.64 so far in 22 IP with 30Ks. In 2019 he was 5-2 and 2.28 all in relief. 69Ks in 55 IP. The lefty is 24 yrs old.

Interesting stat in the Greenville game. Zach Bryant got the win with two IP and one run scored. Yet no hits, BB, HBP nor error. Shows how the new extra inning runner placed at second rule works.
