Good AB resulting in a walk for Xander seems like a good time to point out he had an 8.1% BB rate in September

More recently, there was Cliff Lee's 2012 when he made 30 starts, 211 IP, 3.16/3.13/3.06 and 5 WAR with a record of 6-9

9 walks tonight. Frustrating game to watch (besides Mookie. Mookie is not frustrating to watch).
10*

CJ Nitkowski @cjnitkowski · 11m11 minutes ago David Ortiz via @steveowens_here 2014: 142G, 518AB, 35HR, 104RBI, 75BB, 95K, .355OBP 2015: 142G, 518AB, 36HR, 104RBI, 75BB, 95K, .355OBP
Well that's pretty crazy

Mookie Betts just became the second Red Sox ever with at least 15 HR, 40 2B, 8 3B, 20 SB in a season. The other, Nomar in 1997.

Rich Hill's final pitch was his 116th, and went into the glove of Mookie, who has a 116 wRC+. (That's when you know I'm really bored on a Friday night at 11:30)

Anyone remember the game twenty or so years ago where instead of both Sox runners safe at the plate like Pedey and X, they were both tagged out on the same batted ball? Well this was definitely more than 20 years ago but here's Fisk doing that at Yankee Stadium for Chicago

3-2 split down and Xander rifles it off the monster. Beautiful. 10th XBH of the month after having 11 in July and August combined.

That's back-to-back nights where Xander has taken a walk in the 8th or 9th inning while being 0 for 3 with a decently long hitting streak on the line. Took the 3-1 just off the plate that last AB, could've tried to slap it to right for a hit. Might not really mean too much but, in my opinion, just thought it was good to see him not carelessly hacking for the sake of extending a hit streak even when it's late in the year playing meaningless games.

Mookie's BABIP on May 17 (168 PA in) was .226. It's now at .309 for the season including that double.

Dating back to September 1 of 2014, Xander has exactly 700 plate appearances. His numbers in that time:
.321/.348/.435
11 HR 36 2B 3 3B 94 RBI 88 Runs
September of last year brings the AVG/OBP a tick down but he still hit .313 and had 5 doubles and 4 HR last September

I just made JBJ's Fangraphs page my homepage. Haha love this. Maybe I should do the same considering I've googled "Bradley Fangraphs" after every one of his AB's

And now we see Rusney in left making a play. Bad base running, but still. Just trying to find positives in this mess today

We love the crazy throws and catches but that was an underrated play by JBJ and part of why he's so good. Knew he couldn't catch it, didn't try to be a hero and played it really well off the wall and got it in to keep Didi from scoring.

JBJ currently has a .289 ISO. If he qualified for the league lead it would look like this: Harper Teixiera Bradley Donaldson Cruz Trout Bautista Encarnacion Davis

I was just thinking about the GCL thing and maybe one potential benefit to playing three teams all year is that it could help guys learn how to make adjustments. If you're seeing the same pitchers over and over, maybe they'll start to expose a weakness or two in a hitter and the hitter will have to adjust to what the pitcher is trying to do. Now, I also understand that GCL pitchers may not have the best control, so if a guy wants to pound a guy inside with fastballs let's say, he's probably not going to hit that spot every time. Just a thought though, that maybe it helps guys think more about what a guy's trying to do and go up to the plate with an actual approach.

I respectfully disagree with those who think Don and Jerry's antics were excessive. Maybe it's just me, but they didn't take themselves too seriously, and that's always been something that I admired about them. That's just part of what made them so unique as well. I grew up watching them and have been my whole life. I love Dave O'Brien, but it's going to take a while for me to adjust to Sox games without the Don and Jerry duo. I'm really going to miss it.
Don is awesome at play-by-play and I thought he was great at making watching Red Sox games more entertaining. My favorite call will always be Nava's HR "Boston this is for you!" You really could tell he had a deep enthusiasm for what he did.

I'll be at Fenway for the Cueto/Owens game tomorrow. Pretty pumped to see both those guys Cueto is one of my favorite players to watch pitch live. You get an appreciation for all his little quirks. He's also the reason (ok, one of about a million reasons) I could never be the general manager of a baseball team. Someone would give me all the logical reasons not to spend too much money on him and I'd just be "But watch him! I love that guy, he's just the best." And then my employer would be out like $180 million. Awesome. Never seen him live, really looking forward to it
