Getting absolutely dominated by that beach ball, might have to get him away from there I think hes to important in CF. But it does give a much deeper lineup. What is best worst case for story? Stinger/ seperated shoulder. 4-6 weeks. Break / muscle tear broken coler bone. 2-3 months.

Coming into the game, Devers, Casas, Valdez and Abreu were all looking up at Mendoza. That is about the same number of Yankee starters under the Mendoz lines. Cant realy look at individual stats until at least 20 games in. The exception might be Dalbec.

What is Cora supposed to do? If Kenley is down it's Joely, Slaten with zero career games played above AA and Chase Anderson in the pen and there's 3 of 4 lefties coming. Suppose to have houck down there

Sox have been so unlucky the last few years. On top of that i say the pitching is a pleasant suprize. Here is my east projections Rays 94 Orioles 90 MFY 88 Sox 86 Jays 83

Just imagine trading Ragans for 29 IP of Aroldis Chapman...let's just hope Kenley and Martin stay healthy till the deadline I get what you're sayiny but I wish they stay healthy because they can help them win games. Thats why I'd rather they stay healthy rather than already start eying what type of return they may or may not bring. If martin and kenley stay healthy i don’t think we we will be in the selling mood

How nice is it to have a SS that can actually play SS? Who would have thunk it! Unreal. And nice play in RF to. The pitching staff is going to be a huge benefactor.

Not having Kiké at SS, Kluber in the rotation and an actual CF will all make for alot of extra wins. Hopefully a full season of Story, Casas and Duran are all extra wins. Could easy get more out of many players. That all said it probably comes down to rotation. That could go either way. And thus the Giatillo injury and lack of signing Monty so maddening

Chase Anderson. Not the pitcher we wanted, but at least a MLB arm.

I wouldn't change my mind about any opening day assignments based on spring training stats. This. To the posts and question above, his PA's have been solid in my opinion. A lot of walks and getting deep into counts, so you could call that passive, but not like some others accused of the same where he looks unable or unwilling to swing. I can think of 3 or 4 K's he's had off the top of my head that were VERY questionable calls ("it's spring training for umpires too" etc. type of situations.) I wouldn't say it's a 100% certainty he makes the opening day roster - I've been thinking about the possibility of him starting the season in Worcester too, and you would like to see more contact and/or power in his PA's - but I certainly wouldn't say he looks lost or hopeless or anything like that. Also like his defence in RF

Almost all agree pitching is the whole. Why not take advantage at what is probably a depressed market and pen Montgomery in as your #3 starter for the next 4 seasons. Takes a tremendous amount of pressure off everyone.

I want raffy at 3B, Casas at 1B, Story at SS , Rafaela in CF and Monty on the mound. If that happens i think this team could contend LF Duran 3B raf 1B Casas RF oneil DH yoshida SS story 2B C CF rafaela
I think we can score enough. And ill bet my bottom dollar that all of a sudden the staff looks much much better

Blizzards39 - Merloni on radio saying Whitlock was sitting 92-93 with the fastball, but humped it up to 95 towards the end. Is that matching the eye-test? Seems right. He was definitely hitting his spots. And working with pace and confidence. Looked good.

Over his first two innings, Whitlock with 14 pitches, 14 strikes, 4Ks, and if Gameday is to be believed, 7 swinging strikes in the heart of the zone. Don't believe Gameday on spring training pitches. They only count pitches that result in outs or hits and if it's a K they count it as 3 pitches. And everything is a strike. Unfortunate events here for whit. I think Raffaella makes rhe catch to end the inning and then 2 bloops

Roman Anthony with a single. Whitlock with 2 perfect innings and 4 strikeouts. Im at the game today. Whitlock looks awesome. Cant see the speed. Poise, pace and command dead on. Anthony not out of place one bit. What is off are the tigers uniforms. The orange isnt right. Its like deer hunting orange. Looks rediculous.

What is latest status on Casas, Grissom and Duran. I feel these are the 3 most important players (and story) as to how well the offence does. I know that Grissom and Duran came in a little behind schedule.

It would be a real tip of the cap to Northeastern if they beat the Sox, but it would a PR disaster for the Sox if that does happen. Sox coulda added snell, monty and traded for Soto and it would still be the same roster today.

Every projection system I've seen and win total O/Us have them somewhere in the 79-82 win ballpark. They are not winning 56 games without a legitimate act of god, and the ceiling is going to be higher than 84 wins. I think the realistic ceiling is low 90s wins. It would take the 2021 formula: decent bill of health and above-average outcomes from the new/young guys and question marks on the roster. Some misfortune around the AL East would help too. The realistic floor is more like low 70s wins. It would take a rash of injuries (especially to key pieces like Story, Devers, and Giolito) and many of the young guys just not being up to challenge, leading to a sell-off of all expiring deals at the deadline. Go .333 against the AL East and .400 against the rest of baseball and that's 61 wins. Fangraphs has the sox at 84 wins. Id go up and down from there. Although there may be more downside. Dicision einwill be tough. Orib 93would ge great. Cant see loosing more than 72

I wonder if this means any for Kenley? Or is it more of a 2025 move. How long until Hendricks is back?

Sox were forced into an overpay for Devers had to do it. That said his trade value is MEH. How about the opposite. Tale advantage of the remaining FA and sign a couple at presumably disscount $

It not so much Boras as all bib name FAs. Sox just don’t go there all that often. When they do its quite often looked as undervalued ( JD , story) .

A few notes of thought. Im ok deal kenley if its to add snell or monty Im only ok on dealing Duran if its top bring back mob ready pitching. Is Yoshida tradable?
Here is what i think is la reasonable outcome. I think its 90 win possible. Maybe probable.
Sign monty. ( or snell). 25M per with some opt outs. 4 /100. Opt outs after 2 and 3. 25 mil pakyer option for 5. 25m team option for 6.
Sign another starter. Bauer, clevenger, ryu lorenzen. Who ever cheapest.
Put whitlock as high leveage multi inning beast he was.
Give houck a chance to close.
Start year 6 man or not. More than likely this will take care of itself through injury or bad play.
Trade jansen for $ relief.
Try trade yoshida for $ relief.
Sign what ever RH OF u can for reasonable. I prefer solor or duval
Might be able to squeeze under the cap. Lineuo be a bit better with solar 3rd. But not the same defence or flexibility and definitely cost more
Duran LF Devers 3b Story SS Casis 1B Duval RF /dh O Neil CF DH Grissom 2B Wong C Abreu/ rafaella cf/rf
Monty Bello Pivetta Giotello Crawford Clevinger
Martiin Houck Wink Whitlock Berardinio Schreiber Jaques Kelly And so n
