Of all the things that could have happened in this game, Xander hitting two homers is just about the last thing I expected.

I'm not going to hate on Price tonight, but maybe he would have less of a problem with the media if he were to pitch anywhere remotely close to what he did for the Rays/Tigers/Blue Jays?

It's incredibly disappointing to see a player like Romero decimate his draft stock with absurd off the field behavior. But the part that concerns me the most isn't what he's done. I'm far more concerned that he thought anyone would believe his ridiculous excuses.
I really wish more athletes would admit they did something wrong and move on from there, instead of making asinine excuses that only make you look like more of an idiot.

I don't hate this idea, but I wouldn't do it. Bradley's had a rough go so far this season, but over the last two weeks he has a 173 WRC+, so he seems to be heating up. Not to mention his defense is as good as ever.
I wouldn't mind Cruz, but not at the expense of JBJ.

Didn't Pedro had 10 straight 10ks? I was fairly certain that he did, but I heard on two different stations that the record was 8. I heard the same thing when he did it two years ago, and Pedro said he was hoping Sale would break his record but he only tied it.

Sale ties his own record, shared with Pedro. 8 straight starts with 10 Ks

I knew his numbers were impressive for a 20 year old at that level, but damn. Those are some intriguing names to see him listed along. I've been on the side of keeping him in the minors, but Dave does a great job of explaining why it wouldn't be that crazy if the Sox decide to promote him.

Has anyone else noticed that Paul Goldschmidt has the 6th most stolen bases in MLB? I guess it shouldn't be surprising since he stole 32 last year, but it's pretty cool to see a 1B so high on the list.

The upgrade from our #5 pitcher to Price can't be understated. Really hoping he comes back looking like the old David Price. I read your comment and thought, "I hope he looks like he did in the second half." But then I went back to his splits from last season and realized just how weird his results were. I think most people remember his second half being much better than the first, but the majority of his stats like BB% and HR/9 were nearly identical. The only major difference being his K%, which dropped 6.8% in the second half. A 4.34 ERA/3.12 xFIP in the first half, 3.58/3.98 in the second half. I really have no idea what to expect from him when he gets back. Edit: because posting from a phone sucks.

Nice hustle by Benintendi. I didn't think that was a triple for even a second when it came off the bat.
Edit: Double, advancing to third on the throw

Hanley has been absolutely ridiculous since about last July or August I knew he was great the second half of last season, but you made me curious. Since July 15th, 2016, he has 24 homers in 353 plate appearances, with a .263 iso. I knew he'd been hitting for power, but damn.

Nice hustle by Moreland. Looked like Bryant was going to beat him there.

I really wish Kelly could put it all together at the same time. It always seems like the full potential of his tools are never clicking together.
I'm wondering if this type of pitching, and I'm being broad here, is what made the Sox willing to trade Kopech. 100+ velocity is great, but it's not getting you anywhere if you can't command your pitches. Especially the off speed pitches.

I'm not on the bandwagon to release Pablo, and he wouldn't have made the play anyway, but he should have at least been able to keep possession of the ball on that Tulo hit.

It's not listed on the broadcast schedule, but MLB Network is showing tonight's game as Sox @ Jays. It could be just my area or something, but I thought I'd mention it.

Anyone else notice that Eric Thames is tearing it up so far for the Brewers? Glad to see him succeding after being excellent in Korea the last three years.

Well I think it's safe to say that Sale has been as good, if not better, than anyone could have hoped for. Granted it's only 3 starts, but he's looked phenomenal. He struck out Kiermaier with a 96 MPH fastball to end the top of the seventh, giving him his 12th K.
Moreland has been great too. They showed during the game after his 9th double that he's the league leader, with second place tied between 10 guys at 4 a piece. He has more doubles by himself then the entire Royals roster combined.

Well at 6-0 so far tonight, if it's any consolation, Porcello started slow last year too.
Edit: can't even get that right. Good in april, bad in May/June last year.

Clay Buchholz apparently left the Piillies game with the trainer in the third inning. I didn't hear the specifics of what the injury might be. I feel bad for the Phillies, much worse for Clay, but it's good that he's not on the team I root for. MLB Network just reported what he left with but I wasn't fully paying attention. He gave up 6 runs in 2.1 innings, didn't look good at all.
