I'm also a long time reader and rare poster. I like the Ball pick. My top 6 were all gone when the Sox came up at 7 to draft. I thought after the top six guys were off the board I liked the lefty pitcher over Meadows. After the top six were drafted there was a drop off in talent. It's sad we had such a high pick in such a weak draft.

I personally would like the Sox to spend in the on prospects who demand the 10th to 40th highest bonuses. Say we spend 3 or 4 players ranked in the 10th to 40th range. It would be like having 3 or 4 1st round picks(1.5mil- 2.2mil). I'd also sign several guys between 10k-50k as well. On a side note, we really need to improve our international scouting. It's who we sign more than budgeting.

When I saw Johnson pitch in college I wasn't impressed. I saw a very raw pitcher with no major league out pitch. His performance is what I expected it to be so far. I first thought after the Sox drafted him was they would sign him below slot and use the cash on other players.. So when the Sox signed him to a 7 figure contract I was surprised and disappointed. Hopefully he'll surprise me in the future. 2012 was a weak draft but I'm sure we'll find some gems.

I expect most of our promotions to come around our draft day or later.

Very nice looking team. I feel Britton will have a very good year.

A nice 3 hole hitter in our system for 2014 and beyond could be Jacoby. JBJ would be our leadoff hitter.

I pray for him and his family on their future. I know how important family support will be in Ryan's future. Keep dreaming Ryan!
The best of luck to you.

Roughly, as of now where would the 7th pick rank in our system. Injuries can drop any prospect to our laps at 7.

Ciriaco crushes the Yankees so we need to keep him. I'd rotate Ciriaco and Iglesias, until Iglesias can hit above .250. I am actually a fan of Ciriaco, but not as an everyday starter.

I would sign him to a 1 year 30 mil deal or a 2 year 60 mil deal. If not Hamilton, then Bourn. I'd sign him on a 1 year deal and use Gomes off the bench and backup OF. Hamilton and Bourn are both huge upgrades. I would then trade several of our FA's to be during the July trade deadline. We need more almost ready prospects.

I'm not a huge fan of Belt's as I wasn't on Lars. Keeping that in mind I wouldn't give up much.

Internal options for 2013 and beyond are Kalish, Nava, Gomez, Sands, Lavarnway, Sands, Brentz. Obviously a few of these names won't be ready day one of 2013. I'm right now more concerned about pitching for 2013.

I'd sign Edwin Jackson to a 2 year contract. Jackson should give us quality innings. I would also sign a few guys like Cook next year. As we all know you can can never have enough pitching depth.
