They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). I know it probably has a bit to do with positional need for each team, but Nunez was drafted ahead of Trei Cruz (#2 overall) and Austin Martin (#3 overall)!

If the Sox were to slip to, say, fourth, and Rocker, Leiter, and Fabian are gone... who do they take? And how bad a step down is it for the organization? It is a strange year, in that there are some great guys but it makes me nervous. Rocker/Leiter reminds me of one of those years with two QBs being debated... you do NOT want to pick Ryan Leaf. The short and not fun, but honest answer is that its waaaay too early to analyze the draft prospects in that way. Even in a typical draft year in which you have a full sophomore campaign to analyze for college prospects, there's still usually significant movement between 1st round prospects throughout their junior years. We're working with even less information this coming year and you can hardly consider any of those three to be locks for the top 3. You didn't come here for the not fun answer though, so the more fun answer is that beyond Rocker, Leiter, and Fabian, picking 4 could mean picking the top HS bat (I'm not touching a HS arm anywhere in the top 5). At the moment, Brady House and Jordan Lawlar would currently be the top 2 for that demographic IMO. Also keep eyes on Jaden Hill (RHP, LSU), Matt McClain (middle infield or CF, UCLA) and Alex Binelas (3B, Louisville) from the college ranks. If college baseball doesn't return to normal next year......its going to be a really interesting (and potentially unfortunate) year to be picking toward the top.

I believe there has been another Red Sox UDFA signing in local product Nathan Tellier, RHP (note: 2-way player in college) from UMass-Dartmouth:

Both Fangraphs and MLB Pipeline have put out rankings for the recently traded prospects: Out of 24, MLB Pipeline ranks Rosario at #9, Potts at #10, and Seabold at #12. Out of 33 (I haven't looked closely to see why they ranked more 'prospects'), Fangraphs ranks Potts at #3, Rosario at #9, and Seabold at #12.

I would imagine they want to see how (and if) the season concludes as planned. On top of whether or not the season concludes, there's some other factors that need to be considered (e.g., how many games did each team play?) when thinking through what makes sense for a draft order.

The difference would be that 2020 would have the same weight as 2019. If you just combined wins and loses then 2019 has 2.7 times the weight. This. Not to mention teams may play a varying number of total games this year further complicating total record between the two years. If they insisted on some 2019-2020 hybrid (which I hope they don't, especially if the season plays out in full), I would hope they would take the mean winning percentage between the two years.

Sooo...Jasson Dominguez bulked up just a tad at the age of 17. He's giant. Honestly don't know if thats a good thing or bad thing for his development.
