Will Red Sox pitchers ever trust swihart again behind the plate after a rough April this year?
It's great that swihart is learning left field, but if he had any future at catcher, he needs innings at Pawtucket behind the plate.

If Buchholz can ever get bite out of his sinking fastball, he would be a dangerous pitcher.
But as long as it slurves instead of bites, he will continue to get hit hard.

I have been so impressed by wright thus far, that I think he deserves the 2 spot. Price, wright and porcello, although his last outing porcello did not have great movement on his pitches like earlier this year. If healthy, Kelly should get the fourth spot. After that it is anybody's guess. Buchholz is not executing pitches, Rodriguez has little command and the velocity is down. Clearly his arm strength is not major league ready yet. Owens is walking 4 plus batters per nine and needs more time at Pawtucket. O'sullivan only throws fastballs and eventually will get hit very hard. Johnson has all kind of control issues. Come July Detroit might be willing to part with Sanchez, or San Diego cut loss ross or cashner. Trade deadline could get interesting. Please explain me why. if healthy, it is by default really. Although since spring training,he has thrown fairly well and his ball has good movement, and he has some level of command.

this is what i think the rotation should be 1. Price..think he will figure it out 2. Porcello..proving that he deserves it now 3. Eddy..Left, right combo 4. Buck..this is tentative..had 1 good outing..need to see more 5. Wright..flutterball before hardest thrower. Buchholz doesn't look like he may stick in the rotation if he doesn't find his command O'Sullivan could be an answer, but not right now. Julio Franco played this game a billion years because his bat speed and mechanics never declined.
As long as ortiz's bat speed and mechanics remain, he will be a dangerous hitter.
Watching Ortiz coming out of the batters box, you have to wonder if his Achilles heels don't one day pop.

This is the first time this season that price had filthy movement in his pitches. If he is right going forward, we have a chance to be a very dangerous team this year.

Porcello' pitches do not appear to have the same movement they did earlier in the year.

Good win!
Buchholz continues his long running pattern of total inconsistency.
He is either brilliant or maddeningly frustrating.

Portland with yet another 1 run loss. If only there was a way to do something about that. Are you suggesting that Portland needs a B.M.?

Wright was fantastic tonight.
Yankees really struggling with the dancing knuckleball.
So good to see him get some run support.

Poyner gave up a run. He's obviously not ready for this. He had been absolutely on fire this year. Very clean delivery and good location. Sample is small, but impressive.

Ball so far: 6IP 2H 0R 0BB 2Ks Certainly nice WHIP, nice to see no walks, 2Ks aren't too exciting. I haven't given up on him, though. He's still got stuff that can play. I always thought he had the stuff to be successful, but the execution was just beyond his grasp. Here's to hoping his reach gets longer this year.

Washington of Greenville has really surprised me this far this year.
Really hope he has a good weekend.

I am really amazed at how bad the Yankees starters we face this series have been thus far this year.
You have to think that at some point they are going to pitch to their potential.

Thoughts on Devers' struggles this season? His K and BB rates look healthy. BABIP is hilariously low, weighed down by a huge Pop%. Not worried at this point... Just curious to see if anybody has any comments. looks like he is not picking up the spin of the ball which is giving him fits.

Great win tonight! Ortiz bat speed is still there.
Bogey just taking what they giving him and hitting it. He is getting locked in.

Yeah I get that these guys are baseball players and should be tough and all but it's pretty common knowledge that exercising in the cold significantly increases risk of muscle injury. I would think even more so in baseball where so many of the actions are taking place in random bursts - chasing fly balls, throwing from the outfield, diving on grounders, etc. Spending a month and a half in Salem, Virginia isn't going to have as adverse an effect on a players season as a hamstring strain will. Exactly!

Really worried about price. His pitches are very hittable. They lack life and movement.
The home grown hitters continue to shine!

By mid June, Johnson could be the in house option to layne.
Johnson is still working his way back into form, but in six more weeks, he should be at the top of his game.
But his best avenue for helping the team could be via the pen.
Doesn't workman come back in July, if all goes well. He might be able to give us something in the pen once tawaza''s arm falls off, especially since Farrell is using Tawaza in 8 to zip games against the Yankees.

Wasn't the weather in the mid to high 20's the other night in Portland?
Maybe another week in high a ball might be called for.
I would hate for his swing to get messed up he to uncontrollable shivering.

Something needs to be done with Buchholz soon I think. He is killing this team. I agree. He is not commanding the strike Zone at all and just looks lost out there. He is not injured so we can not send him to the dl, maybe a short stint in the pen to work out his issues would be best for the team.

Great game by porcello. The ball looks really good coming out of his hand.
Bradley, shaw and betts swinging the bat really well.

Tonight against the Yankees was the best I have seen bogey swing the bat this year. He still has to remind himself to lay off the sliders low and away, but other than that, I really like the way he is swinging the bat.
