Nunez simply being on the team is a fireable offense. He can't hit and he's probably the worst MLB 2B I've ever seen. There are tons of org guy, capable defensive types who would be an immediate upgrade in overall value to our roster.

Yeah, those are Tweets. Are you blocking cookies or ads? And what web browser are you using?

I'm just getting some blank posts for posts that others are obviously seeing -- e.g., they are either liking or responding to. These are not people I have blocked, I can see the poster's user name. What's going on? My guess is they are posts that just contain an embedded Tweet? Happens to me sometimes, and refreshing the page may or may not fix it. Feel free to point out some posts you're seeing this with, and I can confirm.

Tendler making his IF debut at 2B, Netzer debuting at 3B. Let's get weird.

Don't love this for Milwaukee, even though it's where Moose wanted to be, and he's well-liked there. Forces Shaw back to second base, at least until Hiura is up, and Moose was pretty mediocre for the Brewers last year. It'd have taken a multi-year commitment, but getting Marwin Gonzalez would have been a much better fit and had a similar AAV -- he plays a solid second base where you have a need at the moment, and can shift all around the field. Milwaukee could have used him significantly at SS and LF, while Shaw would've remained playing a more natural position.

Chapman Betances Ottavino Green vs. Barnes Brasier Hembree Thornburg Call it a wash? Let's even it out some more. Add Britton to the Yankees side and add Workman or even Colton Brewer to the Red Sox side. Yikes. Their bullpen is so stacked I completely forgot they re-signed Britton.

Tulo seemed dead set on pursuing opportunities where he could remain a shortstop, rather than transitioning into a super utility type or second/third baseman. Also, he's been an average hitter at best since 2014. I sense that his defense will still range from passable-to-good, as long as he can stay on the field, but even so, I don't think we can honestly view this as a big missed opportunity. He'd be preferable to Nunez, if he was content in the role, but that swap likely isn't more than ~1 WAR difference maker. The Sox were probably a fit for Tulo only had they shipped Bogaerts out in a trade. If this is true about him being dead set on being a SS, then why would he sign in NY before Machado made a decision? Machado would probably be playing primarily third base in New York, regardless of Tulo. The Yankees have Gregorius coming back eventually, and they don't like Andujar's defense at third base.

The Sox were probably a fit for Tulo only had they shipped Bogaerts out in a trade. Or if Pedroia was viewed as highly unlikely and a fit for the Yankees because of the Gregorius situation. Both him and his agent said switching positions wasn't the issue, starting was the issue. Regarding Machado. I read after they said he wouldn't be signing until after the New Year that they have not discussed money with any of the 3 finalists, only situations. If that is true, I'd put my money on Phily. Given Tulo's previous pointed comments over the position switch, I definitely believe it was a significant factor - albeit, not quite as important as starting, which makes sense.

Loved Kelly as a person, but his inconsistency made him frustrating as a player. He was a fun presence for fans and seemed like a terrific teammate, and overall, I'm happy for him and OK with his departure. He's a California guy and goes home to another good team.
I was one of the folks who questioned whether he should even be on the playoff roster, and no matter how well he pitched in the playoffs -- by the end of which he looked elite -- that's not a guy I'm going to pout too much about not spending $25M on to retain. I hope he kills it on LA setting up Kenley, but I'd prefer the Sox grab a more stable option, a la David Robertson, to replace Kelly's spot.

Marcos Grunfeld M. Verified account @bvenezolano Former LA Angels infielder Luis Valbuena was killed in a car accident with former Pirates 2B Jose Castillo. Awful. RIP. Former Red Sox player Carlos Rivero was in the car as well -- he survived.

RE: Benintendi's position, I think it's fair to say that he'll primarily be a LF-only type as long as he's in Boston. His arm is too fringy for RF in general, let alone at Fenway, and he stinks in CF.

Love that deal for the Braves. Folks had been thinking Donaldson would get something in the $60/3 year range this offseason. I'll note that he turns 33 next week. If he has a productive and healthy 2019 season, reestablishing himself as a 4+ WAR player, what kind of contract do we think he gets next ofseason? I find it surprising he went the pillow route rather than cashing in on a multi-year deal. With a great 2019, will he even get $75/3, if that, considering he'll be 34 with a history of injuries (and declining defense)? I mean, $23 million is a hell of a pillow. No doubt. Tempurpedic-status.

I hate that decision to PH Moreland. He's atrocious vs LHP and merely decent vs RHP. You don't PH unless you know he's guaranteed to go up vs a righty. I'm sure Cora didn't love the Pearce/Maeda matchup, but I'd still take that over Moreland vs any LHP.

Should have done Lin to SS, Holt to RF, leave JBJ in CF.
